Sibsagar College Ph.D Admission 2023-24 Notification

(Academic Session: 2023-24)

Online applications are invited from the intending candidates for admission into Ph.D. Programme as per UGC norms and regulations of Sibsagar College, Joysagar (Autonomous) in different subjects for the academic session 2023-24.

The intake of different subjects are-

Eligibility: Sibsagar College Ph.D Admission 2023

Candidates having Masters in relevant subject with 55% Marks (50% for SC/ST/PWD) or minimum CGPA of 5.50 (CGPA 5.0 for SC/ST/PWD) wherever Grading system is applicable.

The selection will be done on the basis of the Sibsagar College Research Admission Test (SCRAT). The Question pattern of SCRAT examination shall consist of research methodology (20%), subject specific (60%) and viva (20%).

However, candidates having UGC NET-JRF/LS and CSIR NET-JRF/LS, SLET, GATE are exempted from the Entrance Test but they have to appear in the Viva.

The reservation policy shall be followed as per Govt. Rule. All candidates will have to pay a sum of Rs. 500/- as application fee:

SIBSAGAR COLLEGE RESEARCH ADMISSION TEST,2023

Sibsagar College Research Admission Test, 2023 is scheduled on 21.09.2023 (11 a.m. to 2 p.m.) for admission to the Ph.D. Programmes for the session 2023-2024 in the following subjects.

SELECTION PROCEDURE:

a. The SCRAT shall comprise of TWO phases.

i) Phase-I- Written Test in a single Paper for 80 Marks.

ii) Phase-II- Viva for 20 Marks to be conducted by the concerned Department

b. The list of the provisionally selected candidates shall be prepared by the concerned Department on the basis of the performances of the candidates in both Phase-I and Phase -II.

c. The admission of the selected candidates shall be done as per the information of the subsequent notifications.

d. The selection of candidates for admission shall be purely provisional and confirmation of seat is subject to verification of original documents by the concerned Departments.

GUIDELINES FOR SCRAT, 2023

1. The number of seats available in the subjects concerned shall be ascertained by the Departmental Research Committee (DRC) concerned.

2. The SCRAT shall comprise of TWO phases.

a. Phase-I- Written Test in a single Paper for 80 Marks. (Qualifying Examination only)

3. Phase-II- Viva for 20 Marks to be conducted by the concerned Department The SCRAT (PHASE-1) shall be conducted in a single paper which shall comprise of TWO parts-(a) – 20% on Research Methodology- (SHORT ANSWER TYPE) (b) 60% from the subject specific contents (DESCRIPTIVE TYPE)

The papers shall carry 80 Marks and the duration of the Examination shall be of 3 hours

NB:- Admit Card for the PhD Entrance Test shall be issued by the College Office 30 (THIRTY) minutes before commencement of the examination. Candidates must bring a valid photo identity card (PAN/ADHAAR/VOTER) to collect the ADMIT card.

Instructions for the Candidates

1. The examination will commence on the date as per NOTIFICATION.

2. The Doors of the Examination Hall shall be opened 15 minutes earlier than the time appointed for the commencement of the examination. In no case a candidate shall be admitted or given a question paper more than 15 minutes after the examination has commenced.

3. Candidates must take their seat at least 15 minutes before the time allotted for the commencement of the examination.

4. No Candidate shall be allowed to leave the Examination Hall until an hour has elapsed from the time when the papers are given out.

5. Any Candidate having completed his/her answer paper, must hand it over, even if blank, to an invigilator before leaving the Examination Hall. The answer paper must on no account be left on the desk. No candidate shall be allowed to remain in the Examination Hall after close of the examination, except to allow his/her answer paper to be collected by the invigilator.

6. Candidates are required to provide themselves with their own pens and pencils, dividers, pencil compasses and straight rulers etc.

7. Each candidate shall write on the cover of the answer book, only his/her Roll Number provided in the Admit Card. 4

8. Candidates are forbidden to carry into the Examination Hall or have in their possession while under examination any book, note paper, writing scribbling or other materials except their Admit Cards. Any articles carried into the Examination Hall or found in the possession of a candidate in contravention of this rule shall be liable to be seized by the Officer-in-Charge and the candidate shall be liable to expulsion.

9. A candidate, while under examination, shall not help or try to help any other candidate nor obtain any or try to obtain any help from any other candidate or other person. Communication of any sort or in any form is strictly forbidden between candidates and any other person whether inside or outside the Examination Hall.

10. Use of Mobile Phone, Digital Watch and other Electronic Gadgets are strictly prohibited inside the Examination Hall.

11. The decision of the College Authority in all cases shall be final.
