University of Hyderabad Admission 2024 PhD Programme

In order to help the students with one national entrance test for Ph.D. admissions as part of implementing the National Education Policy 2020, the UGC vide Public Notice dated March 27, 2024 has notified that the score of UGC-NET 2024 can be used for admission to Ph.D. programmes in place of entrance tests conducted by the different universities/HEls.

The National Testing Agency will be conducting the UGC-NET Examinations for Social Science, Humanities, Management Studies and Computer Science streams.

The last date for submission of application is 10 May 2024.Similarly, the National Testing Agency will be conducting the Joint CSIR-UGC NET Examination June-2024 for the streams Chemical Sciences; Earth, Atmospheric; Ocean and Planetary Sciences; Life Sciences; Mathematical Sciences; and Physical Sciences.

The notifications in this regard have been issued by the NTA.

The last date for submission of application is 21-5-2024.

The above Tests are to determine the eligibility of Indian nationals for ‘award of Junior Research Fellowship and appointment as Assistant Professor‘, ‘appointment as Assistant Professor and admission to Ph.D.’ and ‘admission to Ph.D. only in Indian universities and colleges through Computer Based Test (CBT) mode.

The University of Hyderabad has decided to adopt the scores of the respective NET for admission into Ph.D. programmes offered by it.

The candidates desirous of obtaining admission into Ph.D. programmes are advised to appear for respective NET Exams. For details please visit the website of NTA.

The details of the Ph.D. programmes, Intake, Eligibility Criteria and the NET Exam eligibility and Stream of NET Exam prescribed etc. are appended herewith for information.

The University of Hyderabad will release Admission Notification subsequent to declaration of results in respect of NET Exams by the NTA.

NOTE: Admission to the following Ph.D. programmes will be through the University of Hyderabad Entrance Exam at Hyderabad Centre;

1. Ph.D. Applied Linguistics;

2. Ph.D. Translation Studies;

3. Ph.D. Optometry & Vision Sciences;

4. Ph.D. Nanoscience & Technology;

5. Ph.D. Materials Engineering:

6. Ph.D. Regional Studies;

7. Ph.D. English Language Studies; and

8. Ph.D. Neural & Cognitive Science.

For all other programmes, the admissions will be done based on the scores of UGC NET and CSIR-UGC NET.
