The University of Calicut invites applications from eligible candidates with excellent publication record for University Post Doctoral Fellowships-2023 to various teaching departments of the University.

This year, University offers 10 Post-Doctoral Fellowships, in faculties such as Science, Humanities and Social sciences and Languages. The target candidates are scholars with an aptitude for research.

Calicut University Post-Doctoral Fellowship 2023: Eligibility

  • The applicant should possess a doctoral degree (Ph.D.) awarded within five years of the date of submitting of application and preferably with published research works to their credit.
  • ln case of general / open category 55% of marks is required at PG level while for reserved category (SC/ST/OBC/PH) candidates, 50% marks needed at PG level.
  • There will be reservation for SC/ST/OBC and Physically Handicapped candidates as per provision of the Government of Kerala from time to time.

Calicut University Post-Doctoral Fellowship 2023: Age Limit

There is upper age limit of 35 years of age as on 1st August of the year of application for candidates belonging to General Category and 40 years for reserved category (SC/ST/OBC/PH) as on 1st August on the year of application.

The applicant must submit a detailed Bio-data in prescribed proforma along with the documents listed below:

Documents to be submitted by the applicant

1. A covering letter addressed to the Director, Directorate of Research

2. Bio-data of the candidate in the prescribed format ( Please see proforma for bio-data attached)

3. Age Proof Certificate.

4. Qualification Certificate.

5. Category Certificate (in case of Age Relaxation).

6. Undertaking Certificate by the applicant (Please see proforma for undertaking attached)

7. Short CV of the Mentor ( Please find attached the direction to prepare Mentor’s short CV )

8. Details including Project Title (max 500 characters), Project summary (max 3000 characters), Keywords (max 6), Objectives of the proposal (max 1500 characters), Expected output and outcome of the proposal (max 1500 characters) should be provided at the time of submission of the application.

Tenure and Award

  • The financial assistance available under the scheme is as follows: Fellowship @ Rs.32,000/-p.m. After 1 year @ Rs. 35,000/- p.m
  • Contingency @Rs.25,000/-p.a. for two years.
  • The fellowship is tenable only in Calicut University. Total tenure of the fellowship is 2 years. The tenure of the award is two years with no provision for further extension.

Mode of Selection: Calicut University Post-Doctoral Fellowship 2023

  • The applications received will be scrutinised by a Screening Committee, eligible candidates will be short listed, thereafter the candidates will be called to appear before the Selection Committee.
  • The selections would be made by Selection Committee.
  • The decision of the Selection Committee will be final.
  • The Vice Chancellor reserves the right to withdraw/cancel the award on specific reasons.

Terms and Conditions: Calicut University Post-Doctoral Fellowship

  • To carry out Post Doctoral Research work in any of the teaching departments there should be a Mentor/Supervising teacher in the department and who should be an approved research guide of the University of Calicut.
  • In addition to research assignments, the fellow may assist the department in academic activities (Lab/Tutorial/Remedial /Coaching/Seminars) up to a maximum of four hours per week.
  • ln case the progress of the work is found unsatisfactory, the award may be terminated by the University at any time during the tenure of the award. The decision of the University in this regard will be final.
  • lf the candidate wishes to leave the associateship before the end of the tenure, it should be done with prior approval of the university as per the requirements of the undertaking given by the associate.
  • An Annual Progress Report of the research work done by the Associate may be examined by a Departmental Research Committee constituted by the Vice Chancellor.
  • The fellow shall not accept or hold any appointment, paid or otherwise, or receive any emoluments, salary, stipend, etc. from any other source during the tenure of the award.
  • The fellowship is liable to cancellation, in case of: misconduct, unsatisfactory progress of research work or the candidate is later found ineligible. The Fellow shall be governed by the existing rules and regulations of the University of Calicut.
