Applications for admission to M.Phil/Ph.D. programme (Full-Time/PartTime- Regular Stream) for July 2023 session in the various departments of Bharathiar University, Colleges Affiliated to Bharathiar University in the Districts Coimbatore, Erode, Tirupur and The Nilgiris and Recognized Research Institutions are invited from eligible candidates.
About BU
The Bharathiar University was established at Coimbatore by the Government of Tamilnadu in February 1982 under the Bharathiar University Act, 1981 (Act 1 of 1982). The erstwhile Postgraduate Centre of the University of Madras formed the core of the Bharathiar University, which was functioning at Coimbatore before 1982. University Grants Commission (UGC) recognized Bharathiar University in 1985 for grants.
The University has 39 Departments, offering 54 post-graduate programs besides offering M.Phil. and Ph.D. programs. The University is an affiliating University. The jurisdiction of the University covers the districts of Coimbatore, Erode, Tirupur, and The Niligiris with 133 affiliated colleges.
The National Assessment and Accreditation Council have accredited the University with an ‘A++’ Grade in the Fourth cycle assessment. Bharathiar University is marching towards becoming a World Class University by garnering ranking in the International arena. Times Higher Education Young Universities World Ranking ranked our University in the range of 201 to 250. We stand at 15th rank under the category of University and 24th among the top 100 institutions in the MoE’s National Institute Ranking Framework’s (NIRF 2022) ranking.
In 2021, Bharathiar University secured a ranking in the range of 801-1000 in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings.
Bharathiar University Admission M.Phil/Ph.D. programme 2023
Candidate who are eligible and willing to apply for M.Phil/Ph.D. (F.T./P.T.) admission to more than one college shall submit separate applications for each and every college through online mode from the University website (www.b-u.ac.in) from 15.06.2023 to 30.06.2023 Candidates have to pay the cost application for Rs.1000/- for Ph.D. and Rs.750/- for M.Phil. for each programme through Online mode only. (for SC/ST candidates Rs.375/- for M.Phil and RS.500/- for Ph.D) and should produce a photo copy of his/her community certificate.
The applications should be submitted on or before 30.06.2023 Late applications and incomplete applications will not be accepted.
Candidates who have successfully completed CET during August 2022/June 2023 are eligible to seek admission in the forthcoming July 2023 session only.
M.Phil. FT/PT admission will be made only on the basis of the marks obtained in the June 2023 Common Entrance Test and interview.
July 2023 Ph.D. (FT/PT) admission will be made on the basis of the Common Eligibility Test marks obtained in the August 2022/June 2023, the interview marks and the Rules and Regulations of Bharathiar University.
