Sidho-Kanho-Birsha University (SKBU) Admission PhD Programme 2023. Admission to Ph.D. Programme (1^st Part i.e. CourseWork) – 2023

Applications in prescribed format are invited online [https://skbu.ac.in/students/phd_admission.php] for admission to Ph.D. Programme – 2023 (1^st Part i.e. Course Work) in the Department of Anthropology & Tribal Studies, Bengali, Botany, Commerce, Chemistry, Economics, Education, English, History, Mathematics, Physics, Philosophy, Sanskrit, Sociology , Zoology ,Geography, Political Science and Psychology.

Admission to the said Ph.D. Programme (1st   Part i.e. Course Work) will be conducted through 02 (two) phases – 1. Research Eligibility Test (written examination) and 2. Viva-voce.

Eligible Foreign students will be admitted through an eligibility test followed by an interview to be conducted by the concerned RAC .They will have to apply to the Registrar separately as per the Regulations for the Foreign Nationals for admission to the Ph.D. programme of SKBU.

Eligibility for admission: Sidho-Kanho-Birsha University PhD Admission

1. Normally, a candidate seeking admission to the Ph. D. programme will have to appear at the Research Eligibility Test ( RET) . The candidate must obtain 55% marks in the Two- Year Master’s level in relevant subject after a Three-year Bachelor’s degree or in M.Phil . Five percent marks relaxation will be allowed to SC/ ST/OBC-A/ OBC-B/ Differently Able candidates.
2. The candidates who have cleared UGC/CSIR – NET (including JRF)/SET/GATE/Teacher Fellowship/INSPIRE Fellowship) will not be required to appear at the Research Eligibility Test( RET) . However, they will have to submit the application form along with the required fees to appear at the Viva-voce directly.M.Phil. candidates will be selected through Research Eligibility Test ( RET) .

An application fee of Rs. 1000/- for Unreserved & OBC candidates and Rs. 500/- for SC/ST / Differently Able candidates is to be paid online during the submission of application form.

The syllabus of the Entrance Test consists of 50% in the area of Research Methodology and remaining 50% shall be subject-specific. For subject part of entrance test (RET), the UGC/CSIR NET syllabus will be followed. The qualifying marks for Entrance Test will be 50% for general candidates and 45% for the SC/ ST/OBC-A/ OBC-B/ Differently Able candidates.

Other necessary information related to question pattern, list of eligible candidates, schedule & venue of entrance test , mode of entrance test etc. will be uploaded in the official website of University (www.skbu.ac.in ) in due course.

Note: (1) Mere passing in the entrance test and successful performance in subsequent viva-voce examination will not ensure any guarantee to a candidate for admission to Ph.D. Programme( 1^st Part i.e. Coursework). Admission of the successful candidates also depends on the availability of seats in the respective Department. Further, mere passing in Ph.D. Course Work will not guarantee to a candidate for granting registration to Ph.D. programme.

In service applicants will have to submit No Objection Certificate in a specific format from the employer clearly stating that:

(i)The candidate is permitted to pursue studies on a part-time basis.

( ii) His/her official duties permit him/her to devote sufficient time for research.

(iii) If required, he/she will be relieved from the duty to complete the course work.
