Vacancy for the post of two social workers at Prayas, a field action project of the Centre for Criminology and Justice, School of Social Work, TISS, Mumbai.
Prayas is a field action project of the Centre for Criminology and Justice, School of Social Work, initiated in 1990. It is a response to the needs of disadvantaged groups being processed by the Criminal Justice System.
It aims at socio-legal and economic rehabilitation of persons who are at risk of being criminalized, exploited for commercial sex, and those in destitute states.
This position involves social work intervention with women and youth, towards accessing documentation, welfare schemes and citizenship rights.

MA in Social Work
Nature of Appointment: Contract basis
Work Experience: Minimum One to Three years field work Experience
Period of Contract: 12 months (May be extended based on performance and fund-availability)
Location: Mumbai

• Excellent communication skills in Marathi and fluency in English
• Ability to work effectively in teams as well as independently
• Familiarity with the use of MS-Office, emails and the internet
• Willingness to travel in Mumbai and Thane Districts, and other districts as per requirement
• Preference for persons with prior experience of social work practice in the field of criminal justice.
Salary: TISS Mumbai Recruitment 2024
Approximately Rs. 26000/- per month (including field work allowances)
The terms listed above may be relaxed in exceptional circumstances. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a written test and interview.
This is a full-time position.
Candidates residing within municipal limits of MMR (Mumbai Metropolitan Region) / Thane / Navi Mumbai or those able to travel to Mumbai for daily work are invited to apply.
When required, the selected candidate will also be required to travel to other districts.
