About Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University
Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University was established through an Act of J&K Legislature in 1999 as an autonomous, fully residential and technical University of excellence. The University gets grant and continuing support from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, Katra and J&K government. The University is recognized under section 2(f) and 12(B) of University Grants Commission, Govt. of India.
The University has witnessed a remarkable growth and has transformed 370 acres of area in the lap of Trikuta hills, the abode of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi, into a magnificent “Temple of Learning”.
The University has the unique distinction of being inaugurated in 2004 by Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam (the then President of India). Outgoing students at the university have been privileged to be addressed by Dr. Manmohan Singh (the then Prime Minister of India), Dr. Narayan Murthy (Chairman Infosys), Mrs. Pratibha Devi Singh Patil (the then President of India), Mr. Hamid Ansari (the then Vice-President of India), Sh. Narendra Modi (The Prime Minister of India) and Shri Ram Nath Kovind (the President of India) in the convocations held in 2008, 2009, 2011, 2014, 2016 and 2018, respectively.
The University is ranked 24th Among Architecture Institution, 79th among Engineering Institutions, 100th among top Management Institutions & among Top 150 Universities in the Country by NIRF 2021, Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India.
I. Any change in Date/Time will be communicated on the University Website only (www.smvdu.ac.in). All applicants are advised to check Website regularly for updates.
II. All candidates, who have applied for admission by submitting duly filled Application Form with fee are provisionally eligible for appearing in the Written Test/Entrance Test for that program. Candidates are required to bring photo ID and originals of all relevant documents for verification at time of Written Test/Entrance Exam.
III. Wait-listed candidates may be called for admission based on vacancy. Candidates are advised to check University Website for same regularly and for other updates.
IV. All offers for admission will be purely provisional in nature subject to the candidate fulfilling the eligibility criteria, by the specified date as per university rules, failing which the provisional admission granted will be cancelled.
V. Non-payment of balance fee by candidates by the dates mentioned above will result in cancellation of the provisional admission granted.
VI. Date for Reporting of All New Students for Orientation & Registration at University Campus: 16th August 2022 at 10:00 a.m. & Commencement of Classes: 17th August 2022
VII. Academic Rules & Regulations are available on the University Website, and it is incumbent upon the candidates granted admission to familiarize themselves with the same.
VIII. University reserves the right to increase or not fill all/any seats as displayed in the brochure.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA AND SELECTION PROCEDURE FOR ADMISSION
5.1 Academic Schedule
The Academic Session of the University consists of two regular semesters, i.e., Odd Semester (July-Dec) and Even Semester (Jan-May). Admissions to all programs are made at the beginning of the Academic Session except Ph.D. program where students are admitted in both the semesters.
5.2 Application Procedure
a) Applications are invited from candidates for admission to the various UG, PG, and Integrated & Ph.D. programs in the leading national and local newspapers every year. Admission Brochure can be downloaded and the Application Form to be filled On-Line from the University website (www.smvdu.ac.in).
The application fee of Rs. 1500/- is to be submitted On-line at the time of submission of Application Form. Application Form Fee is waived off, at time of application for candidates applying for the M.Sc. Biotechnology DBT Supported Program based on GAT-B Rank.
b) Candidates, who have appeared OR are appearing in examination of the final year of their qualifying degree and where the result of this examination is yet to be declared, can also apply subject to their meeting other eligibility criteria, and having finished their final qualifying examination including viva-voce, if any, before the date of semester registration (16th August, 2022).
However, if selected, the admission granted is purely provisional in nature. Such provisional admission granted is valid till the time the result of the examination of the final year of their qualifying degree is declared subject to the condition that this date cannot be beyond 15th September 2022.
In case, the result of the examination of the final year of the qualifying degree of the candidate is declared (maximum time for which is 15th September 2022) and at that time the candidate does not meet the eligibility criteria (due to any reason including lower percentage, backlog, re-evaluation case, non-declaration of any other pending result, etc.) then the provisional admission granted is deemed to be cancelled without any further notice or grant of any further extension in time.
However, for the candidates seeking admission to B.Tech./B.Arch./ Integrated programs, providing proof of meeting the eligibility criteria latest by the designated date of physical document verification is mandatory, failing which the offered provisional admission will be cancelled without any further notice.
c) University reserves the right to enhance or reduce the intake, in each program, as indicated in Section
5.3 Eligibility Criteria for Admission to Under-Graduate Programs (B.Tech. & B.Arch.)
a) Candidate applying for admission to B. Tech. program through JOSAA/CSAB 2022 must satisfy the eligibility criteria as per JOSAA/CSAB 2022 guidelines.
b) Candidates applying for admission to B.Tech./B.Arch. program based on JEE(Main) 2022 Rank (CRL) must satisfy the eligibility criteria as per JOSAA/CSAB 2022 guidelines. However, the minimum aggregate percentage obtained at 10+2 must be at-least 60% (or equivalent CGPA).
c) Candidates applying for admission through Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University Entrance Examination-2022 (CUET-(UG)-2022) must satisfy the following eligibility criteria:
i. Only those candidates who have passed their Class 12th Exam or any equivalent qualifying examination in 2020 or 2021; or those who are appearing in their Class 12th Exam or any equivalent qualifying examination in 2022 are eligible to appear in CUET(UG)-2022, irrespective of their age. Date of birth, as recorded in the Secondary Education Board/University certificate will only be considered.
ii. Candidates must have taken at least five subjects in class 12th/qualifying examination to be eligible for writing CUET(UG)–2022 (Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/ Technical Vocational subject). The candidates who have taken less than five subjects in class 12th qualifying exam are not permitted to write CUET(UG)-2022 and even if such candidates appear in CUET(UG)-2022, their provisional admission will be cancelled at any stage. Candidates must have obtained a minimum of 60% aggregate marks in Class 12th /qualifying exam or equivalent CGPA and should be qualified in all the courses at 10+2 level.
Candidates appearing in the qualifying examination (10+2 or equivalent) can also apply subject to condition mentioned in Section 5.2(b).
a) Candidates applying for admission to B. Arch program through JOSAA/CSAB should satisfy the eligibility criteria as per JOSAA/CSAB 2022 guidelines and Council of Architecture (CoA) guidelines.
b) Candidates applying for admission to B.Arch. program through SMVDU Direct Counseling (Subject to availability of vacant seats) based on JEE (Main) 2022 Rank (CRL) (with Mathematics, Aptitude and Drawing Test) must satisfy the eligibility criteria as per JOSAA/CSAB 2022 guidelines along with valid NATA 2022 score and passed an examination at the end of the 10+2 Scheme of examination with at least 60% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and also at least 60% marks in aggregate of the 10+2 level examination or passed 10+3 Diploma Examination with Mathematics as compulsory subject with at least 60 % marks in aggregate.
c) Candidates appearing in the qualifying examination (10+2 or equivalent) can also apply subject to conditions mentioned in Section 5.2(b).
