Junior Research Fellow at Department of Archaeology

Applications are invited in plain paper along with two sets of bio-data and testimonials for appointment of one Junior Research Fellow, on purely temporary basis, in the Department of Archaeology, University of Calcutta for the tenure of an interdisciplinary project Geoarchaeology and Geoinformatics for coastal and maritime heritage in Ganges delta and adjoining coast of West Bengal under the scheme of Heritage Research Initiative, Department of Science and Technology, Government of India.

The selection procedure will follow the existing rules of the University of Calcutta.

A walk in interview will be held at the Department of Archaeology, Alipur Campus, 1 Reformatory Street, Calcutta – 700027 on the 30th January 2024 at 12 pm onwards.

The candidates are required to be present at the venue one hour before the commencement of the Interview along with the testimonials (original and self attested copies).

Candidates are further required to carry an identity card either issued by the University or by any other Government agencies for entering the campus on the day of the interview.

Essential Qualifications : Junior Research Fellow at Department of Archaeology

1. M.A./M.Sc. in Archaeology, Environmental Science, Geology, and Geography with at least 55% marks or equivalent grade and field experience

2. NET (Assistant Professor/ Lectureship)

3. Basic Computer Skill – Microsoft Word, Excel

4. Knowledge of Fieldwork

Desirable Qualification

1. Knowledge of GIS in Archaeology

2. Knowledge of working in an archaeological laboratory

Duration: As per the provision in the project budget

Emolument: As per existing DST rules.
