University of Calcutta Admission Ph.D. at Department of Psychology

Applications are invited for admission to the Department of Psychology, University of Calcutta (UCSTA, 92, Acharya Prafulla Chandra Road, Kolkata-700009) for Ph.D. course and subsequent research work for obtaining the Ph.D. degree in Psychology, following the Regulation for the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy, 2016, University of Calcutta (www.caluniv.ac.in).

The number of vacant seats is not more than 29 (twenty nine) (Reservation Policy of West Bengal State Higher Educational Institutions – Reservation in Admissions rules, 2013 applicable).

Candidates who wish to pursue research work in the Department should apply in the prescribed application form (obtainable from the Department of Psychology) by paying Rs. 100.00 through a challan.

Duly filled application form must reach the office of the Head of the Department within 8/12/2023.

Candidates should attach self-attested copies of certificates and marksheets of Master degree, NET/SET/M.Phil. (if applicable), age proof certificate, caste certificate (if applicable) etc. along with duly filled application form.

The eligible candidates will have to appear in a written examination of 2 hours, to be held on 18/12/ 2023 from 12 noon at N.N. Sengupta Auditorium at the Department of Psychology.

The syllabus of this examination is the UGC NET (Paper II and III) on Psychology and existing syllabus of M.A./M.Sc. in Psychology, University of Calcutta.

The results of the written test will be published on 19/12/ 2023 at 10.30 am in the Department of Psychology Notice Board. The candidates will appear for the interview on 19/12/2023 from 11.00 am.

The candidates selected based on interview will be considered as Probationary Ph.D. students of this department. The candidates who have already cleared UGC (JRF) examination/NET/SET/SLET /Teacher Fellowship or equivalent examinations or passed the M.Phil. in Psychology or equivalent examinations need not appear for the written examination.

They can appear directly for the interview but they need to submit their application forms for admission within stipulated date i.e. 8/12//2023.

GUIDELINES FOR Ph.D. APPLICANTS : University of Calcutta Admission Ph.D. at Department of Psychology

The candidates who will appear for the written examination have to write a research proposal of 40 marks. They have to answer one question within 800 words (Out of six alternatives) of 20 marks from any one of six specialization areas, namely, Clinical Psychology, Cognitive Psychology & Research Methodology, Developmental Psychology, Social Psychology, Health Psychology and Industrial Psychology.

The total marks of written examination are 60 and duration of examination is 2 hours.
