GENERAL GUIDELINES FOR Ph.D. PROGRAMME 2023-24

About the Ph.D. Programme Bundelkhand University has been offering admission to Ph.D. programme 2023 in various disciplines as per UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of Ph.D. Degrees) Regulations 2016 and University Ph.D. ordinance under the NEP-2020. Ph.D. program consists of two parts. The first part is related to course work and second part is related to Research work. (a) The duration of coursework is six months. (b) Research work shall be minimam duration of 30 months (Two years and six month), excluding course work and shall becalled as the Residency period. Research Scholar must put regular attendance in the concerneddepartment after the completion of the course work.

Eligibility for admission in the Ph.D. Programme

Candidate for admission to the Ph.D. programme shall have a Master’s degree or a professionaldegree declared equivalent to the Master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body. with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade “B” in the UGC 7-point scale or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed or an equivalent degree from a foreign educational Institute accredited by an Assessment and Accreditation Agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country for the purpose of assessing, accrediting or assuring quality and standards of educational institutions.

A relaxation of 5% of marks, ie 55% to 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer/Differently-abled and other category of candidate as per the decision of the Commission from time to time, or for those who had obtained their Master’s degree prior to 19th September, 1991.

Admission Process: Bundelkhand University Ph.D Admission 2023-24

The admission shall be based on the criteria notified by the University, keeping in view the guidelines norms in this regard issued by the UGC and other statutory bodies concerned and taking into account the reservation policy of the State Government of Uttar Pradesh from time to time into different Vertical and Horizontal-categories viz. unreserved, reserved for OBC/SC/ST/Differently. abled and so classified for each department or subject.

The University shall admit candidates by a two-stage process through:

i. Exemptions from the Entrance Test:

The following categories of candidates shall be exempted from the Common Entrance Test (CET) for admission to the Ph.D. programme:

1(a) Regular teachers of the University, its constituent college or a college affiliated/associated to the University, who have completed their probation period successfully.

1(b) The SFS teacher of University Campus who have completed 5 years of service with at least one research publication.

1(c) International students (including NRIs) shall be subject to the general res framed by the Government of India from time to time and as applicable to the University with regard to the admission, fees, etc.

1(d) All candidates who qualified UGC-NET (including JRF) UGC-CSIR- NET (including JRF/SLET/GATE/Teacher Fellowship holder/ICAR NET (including JRF) shall also be exempted from the Entrance Test/

ii. Qualifying in an Entrance Test which will contain two papers in which multiple-choice/ objective-type questions of 2 marks each.

iii. Note-The University shall arrange for an interview/viva voce for both type of candidate which shall include Presentations on the research interest/area. For this, there shall be maximum of 30 marks.

Examination:Entrance test consist two papers, cach paper comprisesMCQ type questions. The minimum qualifying marks for the Entrance Test shall be 50 percent marks in total aggregate of first and second paper

Provided that a relaxation of 5% of marks ie. 45% shall be allowed for the candidates belonging to SC/ST/Differently-abled category in the entrance examination conducted by the University The Entrance Test shall be conducted ordinarily in the Bundelkhand University campus at Jhansi Guidelines for conducting written examination for persons with disabilities will be followed as defined in Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 (PWD Act, 2106) which came into force Bom 19-04-2017.

Preparation of Academic Merit: Bundelkhand University Ph.D Admission 2023-24

University shall grant Registration Admission to the candidate for the Ph. D. programme on the basis of academics and marks of interview after approval of the Vice-Chancellor.Academic ment shall be prepared as follows:

25% of the Undergraduate percentage

50% of the Postgraduate percentage.

Additional weightage, maximum of 10 marks, shall be given to the following candidates

1- JRF-10 marks

2. Inspire-10 marks

1- GATE or GPAT with more than the score of 95 percentile- 10 marks.

4. Candidates working in Research Project-05 Marks

d. Interview 30 Marks

Note: Scholars who are exempted from the Entrance Test as mentioned and the candidates qualifying the Entrance test both have to go through the process of Academic Merit as already mentioned above.

Details of Fee to be paid for Ph.D. RegistrationApplication feel (for each subject) is Rs. 2,000/- (Rs. Two Thousand only) for General and OBC category and Rs. 1000/- (Rs. One Thousand) for SC/ST category. Please note that this fee is non- refundable under any circumstances. Payment of application fee has to be made through online payment mode only.

Each student shall pay a sum of Rs 25,000- (Rupees Twenty-Five Thousand Only) as a fee for coursework, which may be revised by the University from time to time after taking approval of Tinance Committee

General Guidelines for filling up the application form

1. The Ph.D. Application form, has to be filled online on the University website for admission to the Ph.D. Programme. by candidates required to appear for the Entrance

2. The Online Application form will be filled Test as well as candidates exempted from the Entrance Test for admission to the Ph.D. program.

3. Before applying online, candidates are required to keep ready the following documents inJPEG format for uploading as per the prescribed size:
