Admission to Ph.D. Programme (1″ Part i.e. Course Work)-2024
Applications in prescribed format are invited online [https://skbu.ac.in/students/phd admission ] for admission to Ph.D.Programme – 2024 (1″ Part I.e. Course Work) in the Department of Anthropology & Tribal Studies, Bengali, Botany, Commerce, Chemistry, Economics, Education, English, Geography, History,Mathematics, Physics, Political Science, Philosophy, Psychology, Santali, Sanskrit, Sociology and Zoology.
Admission to the said Ph.D. Programme (1ª Part I.e. Course Work) will be conducted through 02 (two) phases –
1. Research Eligibility Test (written examination) and
2. Viva-voce. Eligibility for admission:
I. Normally, a candidate seeking admission to the Ph. D. programme will be to appear at the entrancetest. The candidate must obtain 55% marks in the Master’s level (2 years /4 Semesters).” Marks relaxation of 5% will be allowed to SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B/ Differently Able candidates.
II. Candidates who have completed M.Phil. programme with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade.
III. The candidates who have been qualified for fellowship/scholarship in UGC_NET/UGC-CSIR NET/GATE/CEED and similar National level tests will not be required to appear at the Ph.D. entrance test. However, they will have to submit the application form along with the required fees to appear at the Viva-voce directly.

An application free of Rs. 1000/- for Unreserved & OBC candidates and Rs. 500/- for SC/ST/Differently Able candidates is to be paid online during the submission of application form.

As per WB Govt. Rules. The syllabus of the Entrance Test consists of 50% in the area of Research Methodology and remaining 50% shall be subject-specific. For subject part of entrance test (RET), the UGC/CSIR NET syllabus will be followed.
The qualifying marks for Entrance Test will be 50% for general candidates and 45% for the SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B/ Differently Able candidates.
Other necessary information related to question pattern, list of eligible candidates, schedule & venue of entrance test, mode of entrance test etc. will be uploaded in the official website of University (www.skbg.ac.in) in due course.

(1) Mere passing in the entrance test and successful performance in subsequent viva-voce examination will not ensure any guarantee to a candidate for admission to Ph.D. Programme( 1 Part Le. Coursework).
Admission of the successful candidates also depends on the availability of seats in the respective Departmeat. Further, mere passing in Ph.D. Course Work will not guarantee to a candidate for granting registration to Ph.D. programme.
(2) lo service applicants will have to submit No Objection Certificate, from the employer during the time of submission of online application form, clearly stating that:
((a) The candidate is permitted to pursue studies on a part-time basis.
b) His/her official duties permit him/her to devate sufficient time for research.
(c) If required, he/she will be relieved from the duty to complete the course work.
3. The University may decide the number of eligible candidates to be called for an interview before the DRC, based on the number of vacant seat for Ph.D. available in the concerned departmeal.
