About the University

Rama Devi Women’s University, Bhubaneswar, Odisha has been established by the State Legislature of Odisha as a State University in 2015. It is the only Women’s University of Odisha named after Maa Rama Devi as a humble tribute to her values and sacrifices.

The University is located in the heart of the city of Bhubaneswar close to NH-5 near Vani Vihar Square on one side and Rupali Square on the other side; and 3 kms from the Bhubaneswar Railway Station; and 7 kms from the Biju Patnaik International Airport.

It offers U.G., P.G. and Ph.D. programmes to cater to the educational needs of women of the region.

Rama Devi Womens University Ph.D. Programme 2023-24

Ph.D. programme in Rama Devi Women’s University is regular in nature. It will offer Ph.D. programmes in 13 subjects during the academic session 2023-24: Biotechnology, Commerce, Computer Science, Economics, Education, English, Gender Studies, Hindi, Journalism and Mass Communication, Life Sciences, Philosophy, Political Science and Psychology.

Applications are invited from the eligible women candidates for Pre-Ph.D. Coursework (one semester) for the academic session 2023-24 and subsequent Ph.D. Registration in the University.

Eligibility of Candidates: Rama Devi Womens University PhD Admission 2023-24

  • Women candidates with Master Degree securing at least 55% of marks or equivalent Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) or an equivalent Grade in the concerned subject or related allied subject from any University/ Institution recognized as equivalent thereto by RDWU. The allied subjects for admission into Ph.D. programme in a particular department shall be decided by the respective Department Research Committee (DRC).
  • A relaxation of 5% marks, from 55% to 50% or equivalent relaxation of grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/PwD and other categories of candidates as per the State Reservation Policy from time to time or for those who had obtained their Master’s Degree prior to 19th September, 1991. A relaxation of 5% to the categories mentioned above are permissible based only on qualifying marks without including grace marks.
  • Candidates who have qualified UGC-NET/JRF / UGC-CSIR NET/JRF / GATE / DBT / ICMR/ ICSSR / ICAR / NBHM / BRNS INSPIRE Fellowship of DST / RGNF / Teacher Fellowship holder/ M.Phil. Degree or any other fellowship at national level for Ph.D. will be exempted from Entrance Test.

[N.B. 1: NET/JRF qualified applicants are required to submit the category certificate (SC/ST/OBC/Gen-EwS/PwD) along with application form online as well as at the time of admission, under which they have qualified NET/JRF].

RDWU-Research Eligibility Test (RDWU-RET)

  1. For admission into Ph.D. programme at RDWU the candidate needs to qualify an Entrance Test and Viva-Voce Examination.
  2. The Entrance Test called ‘RDWU-RET, 2023-24’ is applicable to non-exempted candidates and it will be conducted in Rama Devi Women’s University, Bhubaneswar.
  3. The syllabus for RDWU-RET, 2023-24 will be the same as prescribed for Post Graduate syllabus of Rama Devi Women’s Universityin the respective subject in addition to research methodology.
  4. There will be Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) of 100 marks each and two hours duration. The questions of the Entrance Test, as far as practicable, shall consist of 50% from research methodology and 50% from the subject concerned. There is no negative marking.
  5. RDWU-RET 2023-24 will be treated as only qualifying examination.
  6. Qualifying percentage is 50% in RDWU-RET 2023-24.
  7. List of Entrance Qualified candidates will be published on the University Website.

Viva-Voce Examination and Selection Procedure.

  1. A list of eligible candidates (Entrance Qualified and Exempted Candidates) will be published on the University Website for appearing viva-voce examination.
  2. Selection of candidates will be based on Career Score and Viva-Voce Score:

For Example: An applicant has scored the following percentage of marks in: 10th/ HSC          : 72.50 ·    +2/Intermediate: 80.40 UG / Equivalent (Hons): 70.00PG:78.00 Her career score will be: a) 10th/ HSC: (72.50 X 8) / 100=5.80 b) +2/Intermediate: (80.40 X 10) / 100= 8.04 c)   UG: (70.0 X 15) / 100=10.50 d) PG: (78.0 X 17) / 100=13.26 Total Career Score = 5.80+8.04+10.5+13.26=37.60 Note: For candidates passing as ‘Compartmental’, no career points shall be awarded in that examination.

d) The candidates having Grade Points, are requested to submit the conversion rule (% conversion), otherwise the conversion rule of RDWU will be applicable to calculate the percentage.

e) Viva-Voce Examination will be conducted by the respective Department Research Committee (DRC).

f) The list of successful candidates will be published on the University Website for admission.

g) The candidates are requested to visit the University Website regularly for updates regarding Ph.D. admission related information.

How to Apply: Rama Devi Womens University PhD Admission 2023-24

a) The interested and eligible candidates may apply ONLINE by clicking ‘e-Admission’ in the University Website (https://rdwu.ac.in).

b) The candidate needs to read the Ph.D. Admission Prospectus 2023-24, instructions related to online application process and eligibility minutely before registration into online application.

c) The candidate has to upload all required documents/certificates on online portal.

d) Application fees of Rs. 1000/-(Rupees One Thousand) only is to be paid by each applicant online and deposit/transfer slip to be kept for reference and later use.

e) Application fees are to be deposited through online Bank Challan (pdf available in application portal).

f) Application fees depositslip (University Copy) with reference number is to be uploaded in the application portal.

g) Hard copy of the application form will not be received by the University.

h) The candidate has to keep a print- out of online generated application form for reference and later use.

g) Category Certificate (Gen-EWS/SC/ST/OBC/PwD etc.) in which the candidate has qualified NET/NET-JRF etc. The category shall be verified by scanning the QR Code of NET/NET-JRF and other certificates as applicable.

h) No Objection Certificate for Pre-Ph.D. Coursework as well as Ph.D. registration issued by the employer in case of employed candidates.

i) In case of unemployed, the candidate has to give an undertaking that she is not working in any State/ Central/ Private College/ University/ Institution either on short time / full time/contractual/Guest Faculty basis.

j) Proof of reservation category (SC/ST/PwD), if any.

k) Photo copy of Aadhaar Card.

Documents to be produced (in original) for verification at the time of Admission

  1. Aadhaar Card (mandatory).
  2. All original certificates, mark sheets and documents as mentioned above.
  3. Original Transfer Certificate & Conduct Certificate from the institution that the candidate has last attended.
  4. NOC from the employer (if employed).
  5. Relieve Order for doing Ph.D. coursework (if employed).
  6. Blood Group Certificate.
  7. Three recent passport size colour photographs.
  8. Proof of payment of admission fees.
  9. Anti-ragging undertakings are to be submitted by the candidate and her parents/guardian at the time of admission (Formats available as Annexure C (1), C (2).

Fee Structure for Rama Devi Womens University PhD Admission 2023-24

Application Fees Rs. 1000/- will be paid through Bank Challan only. Applicants are required to download the challan copy from the online portal and deposit the application fees at any Nationalised Bank of their own locality. After depositing the amount, the softcopy ‘University Copy of Challan’ is to be uploaded in online application process.

General Rules for RDWU-RET 2023-24

  1. Application fees, once paid, in no case shall be refunded.
  2. Any visually challenged candidate can avail of the services of a writer/scribe in the written examination of RDWU-RET-2023-24.The maximum qualification of a writer is +3 or PG. The interested visually challenged candidates should contact the OIC, Ph.D. Admission Committee, 2023-24 one week before the commencement of the examination to fulfill the formalities for the assignment of a writer/scribe.
  3. Admit Cards for written examination will be issued to the candidates provisionally. Eligible candidates are required to down load the Admit Card online from the University Website.
  4. The candidates shall be appearing in the examinations at their own risk and responsibility subject to final confirmation of their eligibility at the time of admission.
  5. Any person who impersonates a candidate shall be disqualified from appearing in any university examination for a period of five years including this test.
  6. The Centre Superintendent/ any other Authorized Officer of the University shall be competent to expel a candidate from the examination center if the situation so warrants.
  7. If it is found that a candidate has knowingly or willfully concealed or suppressed any information/ fact which renders her ineligible to take the RDWU-RET-2023-24, her result of the test and as also enrolment to Ph.D., if granted, shall stand cancelled. She shall have no claim, whatsoever, against the university. The case, if necessary, shall be reported to the police for any further necessary action in the matter.
  8. If any dispute or controversy of any kind arises before, during, or after conduct of the RDWU-RET-2023-24, the decision of the Ph.D. Admission Committee 2023-24 on approval of competent authority of Rama Devi Women’s University, Bhubaneswar, in all such cases, shall be final.

Interpretation of Rules

The decision of the Ph.D. Admission Committee 2023-24, on approval of competent authority of Rama Devi Women’s University, Bhubaneswar, with regard to anything not covered in this prospectus or has given rise to dispute in interpretation of any rule, shall be final and binding.

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

  • Candidates are advised NOT to use mobile phones for filling up Online e-Admission form in order to avoid possible mistakes. Otherwise University will NOT be responsible for those wrong entries.(Apply Only Women Candidates)
  • Use latest version of Google Chrome Browser for best view.
  • Read the prospectus & eligibility criteria carefully before registration, otherwise any wrong entries will lead to rejection of your application and there will be no refund of money.
  • Online application incomplete in any aspect will be rejected.
  • The University will not be responsible for any discrepancies in the online form.
  • Applicant must upload original scanned copies of all relevant/applicable documents/certificates.
