1. The Management of Pachaiyappa’s Trust Board, Chennai being a Single Unit, which runs the following Six Government Aided Arts and Science Colleges at

(1) Pachaiyappa’s College, Chennai-30;

(3) Chellammal Women’s College, Chennai-32;

Kandaswami Naidu College for Women, Cuddalore has decided to recruit the following vacant posts in the category Assistant Professors/ Librarian / Director of Physical Education for regular appointment against sanctioned vacancies in various subjects by the Director of Collegiate Education,Chennai as per UGC Regulations 2018.

The posts will be filled up on the basis of weightage marks to be awarded for (a) Teaching experience, (b) Higher educational qualifications in the subject and (c) marks to be awarded in the Interview.

Assistant Professor:

Eligibility – (A or B)

i)A Master’s degree with 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point-scale wherever the grading system is followed) in a relevant/allied subject concernedfrom an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university.
ii)Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidate must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC or the CSIR, or a similar test accredited by the UGC, like SLET/SET or who are or have been awarded a Ph.D Degree in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil/Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009 or 2016 and their amendments from time to time as the case may be exempted from NET/SLET/SET. Provided, the candidates registered for the Ph.D., programme prior to July 11, 2009, shall be governed by the provisions of the then existing Ordinances/Bye-laws/Regulations of the Institution awarding the degree and such Ph.D., candidates shell be exempted from the requirement of NET/SLET/SET for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professor or equivalent positions in Universities /Colleges/Institutions subject to the fulfillment of the following conditions:- The Ph.D. degree of the candidate has been awarded in a regular mode;The Ph.D. thesis has been evaluated by at least two external examiners:An open Ph.D. viva voce of the candidate has been conducted;The Candidate has published two research papers from his/her Ph.D. work, out of which at least one is in a refereed journal;The candidate has presented at least two papers based on his/her Ph.D. work in conferences/seminars sponsored/funded/supported by the UGC / ICSSR / CSIR or any similar agency

The fulfillment of these conditions is to be certified by the Registrar or the Dean (Academic Affairs) of the University concerned.

Note:    NET/SLET/SET shall also not be required for such Masters Programmes in disciplines for which NET/SLET/SET is not conducted by the UGC, CSIR or similar test accredited by the UGC like SLET/SET.

B. The Ph.D. degree has been obtained from a foreign university/institution with a ranking among top 500 in the World University Ranking (at any time) by any one of the following: (i) Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) (ii) the Times Higher Education (THE) or

(iii) the Academic Ranking or World Universities (ARWU) of the Shanghai Jiao Tong University (Shanghai).

Note: The Academic score as specified in Appendix II (Table 3B) for Colleges, shall be considered for short- listing of the candidates for interview only, and the selections shall be based only on the performance in the interview.

Librarian:

Eligibility –

i)A Master’s degree in Library Science, Information Science or Documentation Science or an equivalent professional degree, with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point-scale, wherever the grading system is followed)
ii)A    consistently    good    academic    record,    with       knowledge      of computerization of a library.

ii)Record of having represented the university / college at the inter- university/inter-collegiate competitions or the State and / or national championships.
iii)Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidate must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC or CSIR, or a similar test accredited by the UGC, like SLET/SET, or who are or have been awarded a Ph.D. Degree in Physical Education or Physical Education and Sports or Sports Science, in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil./Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009 or 2016 and their amendments from time to time, as the case may be: Provided that, candidates registered for the Ph.D. degree prior to July 11, 2009, shall be governed by the provisions of the then existing Ordinances/Bye-laws/Regulations of the Institutions awarding the degree and such Ph.D. degree holders shall be exempted from the requirement of NET/SLET/SET for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professor or equivalent positions in Universities/Colleges/Institutions, subject to the fulfillment of the following conditions:- The Ph.D. degree of the candidate has been awarded in a regular mode;The Ph.D. thesis has been evaluated by at least two external examiners;Open Ph.D. viva voce of the candidate has been conducted;The candidate has published two research papers from his/her Ph.D. work out of which at least one is in a refereed journal;The candidate has presented at least two research papers in conference / seminar, based on his/her Ph.D. work.

(ii) Passed the physical fitness test conducted in accordance with these Regulations.

B. An Asian game or commonwealth games medal winner who has a degree at least at Post-Graduation level.

General Instructions for Applicants

1.The direct recruitment to the Post of Assistant Professors, Librarian & Director of Physical Education are on the basis of merit through newspaper advertisement, followed by selection by the a duly constituted Selection Committee as per the UGC 2018 regulations, as adopted by the Government of Tamil Nadu and the University of Madras.
2.Applicants should possess the prescribed qualifications and experience as on the closing date of application. Applicants are required to produce specific certificates as per eligibility conditions and other requisite evidences as required.
3.The employment will be governed by the Tamil Nadu Private Colleges (Regulation)Rules, 1976. The pay scale as per UGC norms.
4.A minimum of 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point-scale, wherever the grading system is followed) at the Master‘s level shall be the essential qualification for direct recruitment of teachers and other equivalent cadres at any level.   A relaxation of 5% shall be allowed at the Bachelor’s as well as at the Master‘s level for the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe/Other Backward Classes (OBC)(Non-creamy Layer) / Differently-abled (a) Blindness and low vision; (b) Deaf and Hard of Hearing; (c) Loco motor disability including cerebral palsy, leprosy cured, dwarfism, acid-attack victims and muscular dystrophy; (d) Autism, intellectual disability, specific learning disability and mental illness; (e) Multiple disabilities from amongst persons under (a) to (d) including deaf-blindness) for the purpose of eligibility and assessing good academic record for direct recruitment. The eligibility marks of 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever the grading system is followed) and the relaxation of 5% to the categories mentioned above are permissible, based only on the qualifying marks without including any grace mark procedure.
5.A relaxation of 5% shall be provided, (from 55% to 50% of the marks) to the Ph.D. Degree holders who have obtained their Master‘s Degree prior to 19th September, 1991.
6.The time taken by candidates to acquire M.Phil. / Ph.D. Degree shall not be considered as teaching/ research experience to be claimed for appointment to the teaching positions. Further the period of active service spent on pursuing Research Degree simultaneously with teaching assignment without taking any kind of leave, shall be counted as teaching experience.
7.Publications ‘under submission’ or submitted to referees will not be considered   towards calculation of points for publication criteria. Further, all the items for which points are claimed should be strictly in accordance with the screening guidelinesattached with the advertisement.
8.The applications received shall be scrutinized as per UGC screening guidelines for short listing the applicants to be called for interview.
9.Applications which do not meet the eligibility criteria given in this circular and / or are incomplete in any respect shall be summarily rejected.
10.Application forms have to be submitted only in online mode, within the prescribed time limit indicated in the notification.
11.Consequent upon adoption of self-certification provisions as required by the Govt. of India, the College shall process the applications entirely on the basis of information / documents attached with the application. In case the information / documents are found to be false / incorrect by way of any omission or commission, the responsibility shall lie solely with the applicant who shall be liable for action as per law.
12.The shortlisted candidates called for interview should report along with all the Testimonials /certificate in original along with photo ID. A set of photocopy of certificates/testimonials with respect to the qualifications and experience indicated in the application form, duly certified by the applicant should be submitted at the timeof interview.
13.Applicants serving in Government / Public / Private Sector Institutions (including Boards /Autonomous Bodies) are required to submit ‘No Objection Certificate’ as per the service rules of the current employer.
14.All correspondence from the College including interview letter, if any, shall be sent to the e-mail address / mobile number provided by the applicant in the application form.
15.Canvassing in any form will be treated as a disqualification.
16.Applicants must not furnish any particulars that are false, tampered or fabricated, or suppress any material/ information while submitting the application and self-certified copies/ testimonials.
17.The College shall verify the documents submitted by and antecedents of the applicantat the time of appointment or anytime during the tenure of the service. In case it is found that the documents/ information submitted by the candidate are false or the candidate has suppressed relevant information, the services of the candidate shall be terminated without prejudice to any other action initiated by the College.
18.In case of any inadvertent mistake in the process of selection, which may be detected at any stage even after issuing an appointment letter, the College reserves the right to modify/withdraw/cancel any communication made to the applicant.
19.In case of any dispute/ambiguity that may occur in the process of Screening/ selection, the decision of the Selection Committee shall be final.
20.Applicants are advised to satisfy themselves before applying that they possess the essential qualifications laid down in the advertisement.
21.All degrees should be from “UGC/NCTE recognised universities only. The candidate should have passed Tamil Language as Part-I or Part-II upto S.S.L.C (10th Std) and PUC/ Higher Secondary Course levels. If not he/she should pass Tamil language test conducted by Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission within two years from the date of his/her appointment.Equivalent Qualification: If a candidate claims that the educational qualification in the subjects possessed by him/her is equivalent to though not the same as those prescribed for the appointment, he/she has to produce the letter of equivalence issued by the competent authority i.e., Govt. of Tamilnadu. However, the claim would be subject to the decision of equivalence committee constituted by the Govt. of Tamilnadu and the decision of the Govt. of Tamilnadu. c) Employment Registration: Only those candidates who have registered in provisional and executive employment office Chennai for the Assistant Professor, Librarian and Director of Physical Education on or before the last date for submission of online application and to hold the updated registration card are also eligible to apply for the post.
22.Age: Candidates should not have completed 59 years as on 31.01.2024 since the age of superannuation is 60.
23.Special Category Candidates: 1% for physically challenged, 1% for visually impaired and 1% for Hearing impaired are reserved.
 Physically challenged: Candidates should possess certificate in prescribed form issued by a Medical Officer (not below the rank of Civil Surgeon) or Competent Authority for at least 40% disability.Visually Impaired: Candidate should possess a certificate in prescribed format issued by a Medical Officer not below the rank of Civil Surgeon for one of the following: (i) Total absence of sight, or (ii) Visual acuity not exceeding 6/60 or 20/200 (snellen) in the better eye with correcting lenses or (iii) limitation of the field of vision subtending an angle of 20 degree or worse (one-eyed persons cannot claim reservations against Blind or PHO category).Hearing Impaired: The Hearing impaired persons who are in possession of a National Disability Identity Card and having the following qualities may be selected for the Assistant Professors posts. “A person with hearing impairment should have functional communication skills for class room teaching with or without assistance like sign language, create access as per Person with Disability Act, etc., so that he can discharge his teaching profession without any hindrance. This will be assessed by the ENT surgeon at the time of selection for the post.”
24.Community Certificate: Permanent Community Certificate obtained from the under-mentioned authorities on or before the last date for submission of the Application Form is necessary for candidates claiming reservation category. Candidates with Community Certificate issued by other than authorities from TamilNadu will be treated as GT.Married women should possess Community Certificate issued in her father’s name only.ST – Revenue Divisional Officer /Sub Collector/ Asst. Collector, dated after 11-11-1989SC/SC(A) – Tahsildar of native Taluk of the candidate.BC / BC(M) / MBC/DNC – Headquarters Deputy Tahsildar or Special Deputy Tahsildar.
25.Availability of Application Form: All the candidates should apply only through Online registration in the website : www.pachaiyappastrustboard.org Recruitment Processing Fee: The Processing Fee is Rs.1000/- for all the candidates except SC/ST and Differently abled candidates. For SC/ST and Differently abled candidates processing fee is Rs.500/- Payment of Processing Fee: The processing fees paid through NEFT / RTGS at INDIAN OVERSEAS BANK, Aminjikari Branch, Chennai, Tamilnadu, Savings Bank A/C. The prescribed remittance challan with UTR No. for the proff of evidence for making payment of processing fee should be in possession with the candidate at the time of attending interview and no any other method will not be accepted.
26.Submission of filled-in online Application Forms: Submission of filled in Application forms should be submitted only through On-line registration and any other form of submission will not be entertained and the copy of remittance NEFT details should be kept safe and produced at the time of certificate verification during interview.
27.Scheme of Selection: The selection is based on the academic merit and ability, experience in the relevant field and performance of the candidate in the interview. The date of certificate verification and interview will be communicated through online/SMS/email. The Teaching experience will be taken into account only from the date of possession of requisite qualification i.e., PG Degree with SLET/ NET/Ph.D., and authenticated Proof should be produced at the time of certificate verification. Post Graduate Degree /M.Phil Degree obtained through Distance mode / Correspondence will not be eligible for any weightage marks, even though it has been taken for qualification purpose.
28.CERTIFICATE VERIFICATION: Candidates will be ranked Subject-Wise based on the information given by them. During Certificate Verification if there is any discrepancy in the information provided, the candidature will be summarily rejected and shall be subject to punishment of debarment for future recruitment. Hence, candidates are requested to fill in the on line application form with great care.
29.INTERVIEW: Interview will be conducted by the Selection Committee to be constituted under provision of the UGC Regulations for this purpose. At the time of interview, all original certificates in support of community, qualifications, experience, etc. will be verified and in case of any discrepancy between the certificates and information provided in the Application Form, candidate shall not be allowed for the certificate verification and such the candidates will not be considered for selection. They will be debarred from the future recruitment. Selection will be made for the current vacancies as per rules in vogue. All candidates should have the ability to speak and write in Tamil. The Syllabi to be adopted for personal interview will be the latest UGC syllabus for each Subject.
30.The Teaching Experience Certificate: (Counter Signing Authority) The experience certificates will have to be furnished as supporting documents and produced at the time of certificate verification.The experience certificates of Candidates who worked / are working in Govt./Aided/Self-financing Engineering Colleges should be countersigned by the respective educational authorities / affiliating universities authorities.Teaching experience in colleges for the relevant subject handled alone will be considered. The Teaching experience will be reckoned from the date of passing of SLET/NET/Ph.D. In case of any false certificate, Pachaiyappa’s Trust Board will initiate legal proceedings against the Individual and the Countersigning Authority. All experience Certificates will be verified by a Competent authority of the Pachaiyappa’s Trust Board on the date of certification verification. The responsibility of authentication and genuineness of the certificates rests with the candidates. The decision of selection committee on the genuineness of the certificates produced will be final.
31.General Instructions: The applicant should note down the registration number while filling up the on line application.The fee should be paid only through the NEFT/RTGS, which could be generated on submission of the filled in online application form.In the matter of recruitment, the decision of the Selection Committee to be constituted under provisions of the UGC regulations is final. Any representation for non-selection will not be entertained.

  1. The total number of post mentioned above is only tentative and may vary due to circumstances beyond the control of the Pachaiyappa’s Trust Board Management and on administrative grounds.
  • The Trust has got every right to post the selected candidates to any one of the six colleges at Chennai, Kanchipuram & Cuddalore, which are coming under one unit, as per provisions envisaged in the Tamil Nadu Private Colleges (Regulations) Act and Rules 1976.
