Information’s regarding Ph.D. programme:
Eligibility Criteria: Diamond Harbour Women’s University Ph.D Admission 2023-24
Women candidates having a Master’s degree in her own discipline or in an equivalent subject or a degree declared equivalent to Masters degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade “B” in the UGC 7 point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) or an equivalent degree from foreign educational institution accredited by an Assessment and Accreditation Agency, may apply for admission to the Ph.D. programme. There will be a relaxation of 5% of marks or an equivalent relaxation of grade for SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/ differently abled candidates.
Selection Procedure: Diamond Harbour Women’s University Ph.D Admission 2023-24
The following procedures will be adopted for the selection of eligible candidates in Ph.D. Programme.
- The admission to Ph.D. programme would be on the basis of Research Eligibility Test (RET) and it is to be conducted by the concerned department followed by an interview for the candidates qualifying in RET.
- The candidates who have qualified NET/SLET/SET/GATE or any other equivalent examinations are exempted from RET and can appear directly in the interview.
- The candidates who have qualified M.Phil. in the subject concerned under UGC regulation 2009 would be exempted from RET and to be considered for appearing before the interview board.
The candidates qualified NET/SLET/SET/GATE or any other equivalent examinations, qualified M.Phil. in the subject concerned under UGC regulation 2009 and qualified in RET will have to appear in an interview with a research proposal (1000 words).
Duration of Ph.D. programme: Diamond Harbour Women’s University Ph.D Admission 2023-24
The Ph.D. programme shall be for a minimum duration of three years, including course work and a maximum of six years. As per the guidelines of the UGC, women candidates and Persons with Disability (more than 40% disability) may be allowed a relaxation of two years in the maximum duration. In addition, women candidates may be provided Maternity Leave/Child Care Leave once in the entire duration of Ph.D. for a maximum period of 240 days.

Application Fees: Rs. 1000/- (Rupees One Thousand only). A Bank Draft of Rs. 1000/- in favour of Diamond Harbour Women’s University payable at Diamond Harbour is to be attached with the application form.

General Rules: Diamond Harbour Women’s University Ph.D Admission 2023-24
- The students will have to abide by the rules and regulations of the Diamond Harbour Women’s University.
- Any up gradation of marks (due to review, inadvertent mistake or otherwise) will not be entertained at the time of counseling / admission.
- Ragging is a punishable offence and students are required to submit an affidavit of Anti-ragging.
Note: The Doctor of Philosophy programmes will be governed by the Regulations relating to Doctor of Philosophy of Diamond Harbour Women’s University and UGC Regulations published on 13th July 2016 (UGC Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of Ph.D. Degrees Regulations, 2016), UGC Amendment, 2018 and subsequent UGC regulations in this regard from time to time.
