PH.D. ADMISSION IN HISTORY, ADDENDUM (2023-24) This should be read with the advertisement uploaded in the University website on 4.10.23. Please download the application form attached in this advertisement along with the admit card.
The completed application form with all relevant self attested documents should be submitted in the Office of the History Dept. 4th Floor Alipore campus,(Shahid Kshudiram Siksha Prangan) 1 Reformatory Street, Kolkata 700027, on or before 17 October, Tuesday by 4pm.
An application fee of Rs 100 to be submitted online through sbi collect (https://www.onlinesbi.com/sbicollect). You must preserve this payment document.

PhD Entrance Test in History (2023-24)
Ph.D. written entrance test for admission in History (2023-24), University of Calcutta will be held at 1.00pm (duration two hours), on 23 November, 2023, Thursday, in the Dept. of History, Alipore Campus (Shahid Kshudiram Siksha Prangan) of Calcutta University, 3rd Floor, 1 Reformatory Street, Kolkata 700027.

The candidates will have to answer two essay type questions of 25 marks each (Full marks 50). There will be one compulsory question on the research proposal and one optional question on historiography relating to India and Europe.
The successful candidates in the Entrance Test will be interviewed (interview marks 50), the date of which will be announced later.

The candidates with NET/SET/M.Phil are exempted from the Entrance Test, however, the interview is compulsory for all.
The list of candidates to be interviewed would be displayed on the Departmental Notice Board two weeks after the entrance test.
All candidates must submit a research proposal not exceeding 1000 words in the Departmental Office two weeks before the interview.
Candidate without a research proposal will not be interviewed.
The Department can admit a maximum number of 6 (six) candidates, this time. (Following Reservation Rules)
