The Election Commission of India is gearing up for an exciting round of assembly elections in five states: Mizoram, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Telangana.

Mizoram: A Small State with Big Political Potential
Mizoram, the smallest state among the five, is poised for a significant political showdown. It boasts 40 assembly constituencies, with a unique distribution of General-1, SC-nil, and ST-39 seats.
The state has an electorate of 8.52 lakh, with 4.39 lakh women voters. Notably, 50,611 first-time voters will play a pivotal role in shaping Mizoram’s political landscape.
Impressively, 8490 voters are aged 80 and above, including 578 centenarians. The gender ratio stands at a commendable 1063.
Chhattisgarh: 90 Seats, Millions of Voices
Chhattisgarh, with its 90 assembly constituencies (General-51, SC-10, ST-29), represents a substantial electoral challenge.
The state’s electorate is a massive 2.03 crore, featuring 1.02 crore women voters. Astoundingly, approximately 7.23 lakh voters will be exercising their franchise for the first time.
Moreover, 1.86 lakh voters are aged 80 and above, with 2462 centenarians in the mix. The gender ratio is 1012, reflecting a balanced representation.
Madhya Pradesh: The Big Player
Madhya Pradesh takes center stage in this round of assembly elections with a whopping 230 assembly seats, including 25 reserved for Scheduled Castes and 47 for Scheduled Tribes.
The state boasts a staggering 2.72 crore female voters, with 22.36 lakh first-time voters making their voices heard. Impressively, 6.53 lakh eligible voters are aged 80 and above, including 5124 centenarians.

Telangana: The Youngest Contender
Among the five states, Telangana stands as the youngest with 119 assembly seats (SC-19, ST-12). The state boasts an electorate of 3.17 crore, featuring 1.58 crore women voters.

Youth Participation and Electoral Improvements
The Election Commission highlights the crucial role of youth in the upcoming elections. An impressive 60 lakh individuals will be eligible to vote for the first time.
Furthermore, 15.39 lakh people will participate in elections due to amendments on qualifying dates. Youngsters will manage 2900 polling stations across these states.
Gender balance is also a priority, with 23.6 lakh women electors added to the rolls since the 2018 elections. In total, 1.77 lakh polling booths will be installed, with webcasting planned for 1.01 lakh polling stations.
Ensuring Fair Elections: Vigilance and Check Posts
To ensure fairness and prevent inducements, 940 border check posts will be established to monitor the flow of illicit cash, liquor, and other forms of inducements.
These posts will be distributed across the states, with 15 in Mizoram, 105 in Chhattisgarh, 315 in Madhya Pradesh, 357 in Rajasthan, and 148 in Telangana.
The Election Commission is also committed to preventing suspicious online cash transfers through wallets, conducting joint operations with central and state enforcement directorates, and scrutinizing cargo movement through non-scheduled chartered flights.
