Applications are invited from eligible candidates for the post of Assistant Professor (Full- Time Contractual) in English for the Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE), Rabindra Bharati University, Salt Lake Campus purely on temporary basis.

1. Assistant Professor

a) Essential Qualification

(i)A Master’s degree with 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point-scale wherever the grading system is followed) in a concerned/relevant/allied subject from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university, along with relaxations applicable to specified categories, as explained in the Note 1.
(ii)Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidate must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC (CSIR) or similar test accredited by the UGC like NET/SLET/SET, along with exemptions to specified categories, as explained in the Note 2.
b)The Ph. D. degree has been obtained from a foreign university/institution with a ranking among top 500 in the World University Ranking (at any time) by any one of the following: (i) Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) (ii) the Times Higher Education (THE) or (iii) the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) of the Shanghai Jiao Tong University (Shanghai).
 (iii)The upper age limit is 55 (Fifty Five) years as on 01.01.2022.
 Consolidated remuneration of Rs. 57,700/- per month.
iFulfillment of minimum qualifications does not guarantee a call for interview. The University reserves the right to decide the number of candidates to be called for interview for a particular post. Incomplete applications are liable to be cancelled. Application received after the last date due to any reasons including postal delay shall not be entertained.
iiCandidates must clearly write his/her mobile number and e-mail ID (in CAPITAL LETTER) in the Application Form. They are also to retain a set of scanned copies of all the documents, including publications, if any, being submitted by them, including filled-in application form. These scanned documents may have to be forwarded to the undersigned electronically before the interview, if necessary. It may be noted that the interview may be conducted in virtual mode, if the University so decides.

Application in the prescribed form is to be downloaded from our website www.rbu.ac.in from 19/05/2022    to 10/06/2022 (up to 4.00 pm). The application form, duly filled in, is to be submitted either in person at the Establishment Section of the university addressed to “The Registrar, Emerald Bower Campus, 56A, B.T. Road, Kolkata – 700050” on all working days (between 11.00 a.m. and 4.00 p.m.)  or to be sent by speed post/courier to the above mentioned address, along with the Demand Draft in original for payment of requisite application fees,  as mentioned under (B) and other Annexures as mentioned under (C).Rs. 500/- [in case of SC/ST/Differently abled (Physically as well as Visually)] and Rs. 1000/- [for candidates belonging to UR and OBC categories] payable in Demand Draft in favour of RABINDRA BHARATI UNIVERSITY payable at ‘KOLKATA’.(i) One (1) set of photocopies of all marksheets, certificates and other testimonials. (ii) Six (6) photo copies of application form only.
(iii) No Objection Certificate/Forwarding from/by the existing employer, if applicable.

1. Relaxation of Marks for Direct Recruitment of Assistant Professor:

 i.A relaxation of 5% may be provided at the Graduate and Masters level for the Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes/Differently-abled (physically and visually differently-abled) / other Backward Classes (non-creamy layer) categories for the purpose of eligibility and for assessing good academic records during direct recruitment to teaching positions. However, differently-abled (physically and visually) candidates are not eligible for any marks relaxation in Physical Education discipline.
 ii.The minimum qualifying marks of 55% is relaxable by 5% marks (from 55% to 50%) at the Master level for Ph.D. Degree holders who have obtained their Masters degree prior to September 19, 1991.
 iii.The eligibility marks of 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) and the relaxation of 5% to the categories mentioned above are permissible, based on only the qualifying marks without including any grace mark procedures.
 iv.All the essential qualifications must have been obtained from a recognized University/ Institute. By a recognized University / Institute is meant a University / institute affiliated to UGC/other statutory apex bodies, or recognized by the State or Central Government as a centre of higher learning. In case of a foreign University, the degree concerned should be recognized as equivalent to its Indian counterpart by the Association of Indian Universities.
2.NET/SLET/SET Exemption for the Post of Assistant Professor:
 i.The candidates who have been awarded Ph.D. Degree in the same or in a relevant subject in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for award of Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009 are exempted from qualifying in the Eligibility Test (NET/SLET/SET).
 ii.Candidates registered for Ph.D. programme prior to 11 July, 2009 shall be exempted from qualifying in the Eligibility Test (NET/SLET/SET) as described hereinafter:   The award of Degree to candidates registered for the Ph.D. programme prior to July 11, 2009, shall be governed by the provisions of the then existing Ordinances/ Bye laws/ Regulations of the institutions awarding the Degree in the same or relevant subject shall be exempted from the requirement of NET/SLET/SET, subject to fulfillment of the following conditions:   Ph.D. degree of the candidate awarded in regular mode only;Evaluation of the Ph.D. thesis by at least two external examiners; Open Ph.D. viva voce of the candidate had been conducted; Candidate has published two research papers from his/her Ph.D. work out of which at least one must be in a refereed journal; Candidate has made at least two presentations in conferences/seminars, based on his/her Ph.D. work.   The fulfillment of these conditions is to be certified by the Registrar or the Dean (Academic Affairs) of the University concerned.
 iii)NET/SLET/SET shall also not be required for such Master’s Programmes in disciplines for which NET/SLET/SET is not conducted.
3.The Ph.D. Degree will be a mandatory qualification for direct recruitment to the post of Assistant Professor in Universities w.e.f. 01.07.2023 as per the extant order of UGC.
  4.Relevant/ allied disciplines in each case, good academic record may be decided by the appropriate bodies of the concerned university.
  5The Period of time spent by the candidates to acquire M. Phil and/ or Ph.D. degree shall not be claimed or considered as teaching/research experience for appointment to the post of Associate Professor/Professor.
  6.Composition of the selection committee and the selection criteria based on the candidates’ academic record, research experience, performance in his/ her previous academic/ research positions in the colleges/universities/ research institutes/ industries and other related aspects may be decided by the appropriate bodies of the concerned university taking into consideration as far as practicable, the relevant guidelines of UGC in such matters.
7.The overall selection procedure shall incorporate transparent and objective methodology of analysis of the merits and credentials of the applicants based on weightages given to the overall performance of the candidate in different relevant dimensions based on a scoring system adopted by the selection committee.
8.In addition to the minimum eligibility criteria and experiences as stated above for each category of academic positions, the concerned universities may include other relevant qualifications/ experiences.
9.Educational qualifications and experiences attained by the applicant till the last date of application will be counted. The University reserves the right to withdraw the notifications at any point of time, partially or completely, if situations so warrant. If done so, application fees will be refunded to respective candidates.
10The last date for submission of duly filled-in application is 10/06/2022. Application received after the last date shall not be entertained.
