Central University of Tamil Nadu (CUTN) PhD Admission (Full Time) Notification. The following candidates can register online for PhD Admission (Regular) and appear for the interview conducted by the Department.

a. Candidates who have qualified any national level examinations [such as JRF (UGC/CSIR/DBT/ICMR/ICAR), NET (UGC/CSIR), GATE or equivalent)]

b. Candidates who have secured DST-INSPIRE Fellowship

c. Government-sponsored candidates and teacher fellowship holders

1. All eligible candidates will be required to pay a Non-Refundable fee of Rs. 1000/- (GEN/OBC) and Rs.500/- (SC/ST/PWD/Third Gender), plus transaction charges & taxes as applicable through SBI Collect.

2. The University shall not be responsible for technical glitches or delay, if any, in submission of form or payment of application fee.

3. Students having grievances, if any, regarding their eligibility contact the concerned department.

4. The interview schedule will be notified by the concerned department. 5. Admission will be offered to the candidates in the order of merit after verification of the original documents by the concerned department.

6. The selected candidates will be required to deposit the prescribed fee as per the schedule intimated.

A duly completed application form with the prescribed application fee must be submitted online on or before 31.05.2022.

2.Ph.D (Chemistry)A consistently good academic record possessing a Master’s Degree with a minimum of 55% marks [50% for OBC (Non-creamy layer) / SC/ST/PWD candidates] in Chemistry/ Organic Chemistry/ Inorganic Chemistry/ Physical Chemistry or equivalent degree, preceded by a Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent Degree of three years duration from a recognized University/Institute.
3.Ph.D (Commerce)A consistently good academic record and possessing a Master’s degree in Commerce / MBA or Post Graduation in Financial Economics / Econometrics / Statistics or Equivalent or ACA/ACS/CMA or M.Phil. in Commerce / Management / Financial Economics / Statistics of Equivalent obtained from any recognised Indian University or its equivalent, with a minimum of 55% marks for General category and 50% marks for OBC/SC/ST/PWD categories at P.G level.
4.Ph. D (Computer Science)A consistently good academic record possessing a Master’s Degree (two years or Integrated five years) / M.Phil. degree with a minimum of 55% marks [50% for OBC (Non-creamy layer)/SC/ST/PWD candidates] in Computer Science / Information Technology or allied subjects, preceded by a Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent Degree of three years / four years duration from a recognized University/Institute.
5.Ph.D (Economics)A consistently good academic record possessing a Master’s Degree in Economics with a minimum of 55% marks [50% for OBC (Non-creamy layer) / SC/ST/PWD candidates] overall marks, preceded by a Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent Degree of three years duration from a recognized University/Institute.
6.Ph.D (Education)A consistently good academic record possessing M.Ed. Degree, offered by NCTE approved Institution with a minimum of 55% marks [50% for OBC (Non-creamy layer) /SC/ST/PWD candidates].
7.Ph.D (English)A consistently good academic record possessing a Master’s Degree (two years duration) with a minimum of 55% marks [50% for OBC (Non-creamy layer) / SC/ST/PWD candidates] in the concerned or an allied subject, preceded by a Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent Degree of three years duration from a recognized University / Institute.
8.Ph.D (Epidemiology & Public Health)The minimum academic qualification for admission to the Ph.D. programme is a second class Master’s or equivalent degree in the relevant subject awarded by a recognised university in India or abroad, with at least an average of 55 % of aggregate marks, or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed. In the case of SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/differently-abled candidates, the minimum eligibility is an average of 50 per cent of aggregate marks, or an equivalent grade.

The programme suits for those candidates who have an interest/ expertise/ practical exposure in the area of epidemiology and public health. Relevant subjects include Masters in Life Sciences, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Public Health, Epidemiology, Social Work, Sociology, MD/PSM/MVSc/MPH/, and other relevant disciplines.
9.Ph.D (GeologyA consistently good academic record and possessing a M.Sc. or M.Phil. or M.Tech in Geology/Applied Geology/ Marine Geology/Geophysics or related disciplines of Earth Sciences obtained from any recognised Indian University or Foreign University equivalent, with a minimum of 55% marks for General category and 50% marks for OBC/SC/ST/PWD categories at P.G level.
10.Ph.D (Geography)A consistently good academic record and possessing a M.A./M.Sc. or M.Phil. in Geography/Applied Geography or related disciplines of Earth Sciences obtained from any recognised Indian University or Foreign University equivalent, with a minimum of 55% marks for General category and 50% marks for OBC(NCL)/SC/ST/PWD categories at PG level.
11.Ph.D (History)A consistently good academic record possessing a Master’s Degree (two years duration) in History with a minimum of 55% marks [50% for OBC (Non-creamy layer) / SC/ST/PWD candidates] overall marks, preceded by a Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent Degree of three duration years in any discipline from a recognized University/Institute.
12.Ph.D (Hindi)M.Phil. or Master’s degree or its equivalent degree in the relevant or allied subject from any University/ recognised Institution with at least 55% marks (50% for SC/ST /PWD candidates) at P.G. level.
13.Ph.D (Horticulture)M.Sc. in Horticulture / Fruit Science / Vegetable Science / Floriculture/ Spices, Plantation Crops & Medicinal and Aromatics / Post Harvest Technology / M.Sc. (Agri.) in Horticulture / Plant Breeding and Genetics/ Seed Science and Technology / Biotechnology in a 10+2+4+2 system obtained from any recognized Indian University or Foreign University equivalent (approved by AIU), with a minimum of 55% marks for General category and 50% marks for OBC/SC/ST/PWD categories.
14.Ph.D (Library and Information Science)A pass in the Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science Programme from a recognized University with at least 55% marks or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed. A relaxation of 5% may be provided in marks from 55% to 50% to the candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/PWD categories.

25.Ph.D (Tamil)A consistently good academic record possessing a Master’s Degree (two years duration) with a minimum of 55% marks [50% for OBC (Non-creamy layer) /SC/ST/PWD candidates] in Master’s degree in Tamil / equivalent subject in Tamil , preceded by a Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent Degree of three years duration from a recognized University.
26.Ph.D (Tourism & Hospitality Management)A consistently good academic record possessing a Master’s Degree (two years duration) with a minimum of 60% marks (55% for SC/ST/PWD candidates) in Tourism Management/ Hotel and Hospitality Management/General Management / other allied subjects, preceded by a Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent Degree of three years duration from a recognized University/Institute.
27.Ph.D (Law)A candidate shall be eligible for admission to the Ph.D. programme, if they possess: A Master’s degree in Law, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC’s 7-point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever the grading system is followed), or an equivalent degree from a foreign educational Institution accredited by an Assessment and Accreditation Agency which is approved, recognized or authorised by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country, or any other statutory authority in that country for the purpose of assessing, accrediting or assuring quality and standards of educational institutions.

A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, may be allowed for the candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently abled and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the University Grants Commission from time to time, or for those who had obtained their Master’s degree prior to 19th September, 1991. The eligibility marks of 55% (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever the grading system is followed) and the relaxation of 5% to the categories mentioned above are permissible only on the basis of the qualifying marks without including the grace mark procedures.”
