Central University of Andhra Pradesh is inviting applications for admission to PhD programmes in various Departments for the Academic year 2023-2024 under the two categories:
Category A: Regular Candidates

The admission to the Ph.D Programmes shall be made as per the following criteria (Applicable for both Categories A and B):
1. Candidates who have qualified fellowship/scholarship in UGC NET/UGC-CSIR NET/GATE/ CEED and similar National Level Tests, have to apply through CUAP Ph.D. admission portal and appear directly for interview.
2. Candidates who have not qualified for fellowship/scholarship/ in UGC-NET/UGC-CSIR NET and similar National level test need to appear in Ph.D entrance test.
3. For the selection of candidates who qualify in the entrance test, a weightage of 70% to theentrance test and 30% to the performance in the interview/viva-voce shall be given.
4. For the selection of candidates appearing directly for the interview (i.e., the candidates exempted from the Ph.D entrance test, weightage of 100% shall be given to the performance in the interview.
Additional Information
• Mere appearance in the entrance examination does not entitle a candidate for admission to any programme in this University. He/she will be granted admission only if he/she fulfills the eligibility criteria fixed for the programmes.
• Even if a candidate is placed in the admission list based on his/her performance in theentrance test but does not meet the eligibility criteria, he/she will not be granted admission. Admission granted will be cancelled at any time, if it is found that the information furnished by the candidate is false or incorrect or if, at a later stage, it is found that the candidate does not fulfill the eligibility criteria prescribed for the programme.
• Individual entrance test marks, rank and the list of selected/waitlisted candidates will be hosted on the University website along with admission schedule/ instructions. No individual admission intimation will be sent to the selected/ waitlisted candidates. Hence, the applicants are advised to see the University website regularly for updates regarding admission.
• The University reserves the right to increase/decrease the intake of any of the programmes. The University also reserves the right not to offer any of its programmes, if necessary.
Minimum Eligibility: Central University of Andhra Pradesh Ph.D Admission 2023
Master’s degree programme or qualification declared equivalent to the Master’ degree in relevant subjects (see program-specific eligibility criteria in table given 1) with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed or equivalent qualification from a foreign educational institution accredited by an assessment and accreditation agency which is approved, recognized or authorised by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country to access, accredit or assure quality and standards of the educational institution.
A relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade will be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer) / Differently abled, Economically Weaker Section (EWS) categories.
The relaxation in marks is subject to the decisions by the University Grants Commission (UGC) India, from time to time.

Structure of Entrance Test
The structure of the Ph.D. entrance test question papers is outlined as follows:
Each question paper will comprise two sections:
Section 1: Research Methodology/Aptitude and Language:
1. The pattern of examination will be descriptive and objective in nature.
II. The duration of the test is set at 2 hours (120 minutes) carrying total 100 marks where qualifying mark is 50.Section
2: Subject-specific
1. The pattern of examination will be descriptive and objective in nature. The duration of the test is 2 hours (120 minutes).
II. The subject-specific exam consists of both descriptive and objective questions for 100 marks. There are no negative marks.
