Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya Applications are invited from Indian citizens only for admission to Master Degree Programmes (2-Years) of Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya (BCKV) at Mohanpur Campus for the academic session 2023-24.

Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya PG Admission 2023-24

Applications are invited from Indian citizens only for admission to Master Degree Programmes (2-Years) of Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya (BCKV) at Mohanpur Campus for the academic session 2023-24. Interested candidates may apply for admission to the Master degree programmes through online mode. Link will be available on university website (www.bckv.edu.in).

(1) ALLOTMENT OF SEATS: As per Annexure-I and II

(2) Procedure of filling up of PG seats : Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya

Out of total seats (Department/Programme-wise):

  • 70% seats will be reserved as University seats;
  • 30% seats will be reserved as ICAR quota. ICAR’s nominees will be considered as per prevailing rules.

All Master’s Degree seats, excepting ICAR seats, will be filled up in the following manner :

(i) Out of the 70% University seats: 80% seats will be filled from domicile of West Bengal and remaining 20% will be filled from open category (domicile and non-domicile). During admission 80% domicile category seats will be filled first, then only remaining 20% open category seats will be filled.

(ii) Eighty percent (80%) of the seat in each department rounded off to nearer absolute number will be filled up category-wise (UR/SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B/PwD) as per reservation policy of the Government of West Bengal on the basis of merit list.

(iii) Reservation policy of Government of West Bengal will be followed in respect of filling the remaining 20% open category seats.

(iv) No benefit of reservation will be extended to the non-domicile candidates.

(v) In case any seat falls vacant due to non-availability of domicile candidates, it will be filled up by non-domicile candidates on the basis of merit list.

(vi) The ICAR left over seats, if any, will be filled up by the students of BCKV only.

(vii) Only one time up-gradation will be allowed module-wise.

(viii) Admission test (to be conducted by BCKV) and also academic record will be considered for preparation of merit list.

(3) GUIDELINES FOR ENTRANCE EXAMINATION OF MASTER DEGREE PROGRAMME :

i. Admission test will be conducted by BCKV.

ii. Under three Faculties (Agriculture, Horticulture & Agril. Engineering) there will be all total nine (9) Modules to choose from (Annexure-III).

iii. The nine modules are categorised under three Groups- A, B & C (Annexure-III).

iv. Admission test will be held Module-wise. v. Admission test for all the modules will be held on the same day in three separate time slots, specified for the three Groups (A/B/C) [Annexure-III].

vi. Candidates with Agriculture and Horticulture background can opt for any two modules under any two Groups (any one module under each Group).

vii. Module 9 – Agricultural Engineering will be available to Agricultural Engineering graduates.

viii. Agriculture graduates will have eight (8) modules (Module 1 to 8) to choose from and Horticulture graduates will have only seven (7) modules (Modules 1 to 8, except Module 5) to choose from [B.Sc.(Hort.) graduates will not be eligible to apply for Agronomy Module (Module 5)[Annexure-III].

ix. At the time of counselling, as per merit list, the candidates shall get the opportunity of choosing a department/programme of study under the particular Module for which they may get selected (details of courses is provided in Annexure-III.

x. Candidates desiring to apply under two modules, will be required to fill only one Application Form, and will not be required to pay any extra application fee.

xi. Admission test will be of 60 marks. The question paper will comprise of 60 MCQs of 1 marks each, and each with 4 unambiguous alternatives. Xii. The duration of the admission test will be one (1) hour.

xii. There will be negative marking of 0.25 for each wrong answer;

(4) ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION : Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya

(A) Agriculture and Horticulture (M.Sc.):

(i) Candidates must have passed 4-year Bachelor Degree examination in Agriculture/ Horticulture. General and OBC candidates must secure Overall Grade Point Average (OGPA) of at least 6.50 in 10.00 scale whereas for SC/ST/PWD candidates, the said requirement is at least 5.50 in 10.00 scale. In traditional system where grade-points are not awarded, the General and OBC category candidates must have secured at least 60% marks, whereas for SC/ST/PwD categories, the requirement is at least 50% marks.

(ii) Candidates must have passed Higher Secondary or equivalent examination (10+2) in General stream or Vocational stream securing at least 50% marks in aggregate for General and OBC categories, whereas for candidates under SC/ST/PwD categories the said requirement is at least 40% marks

(iii) Students from ICAR accredited/State/Central Aided Universities/Institutes would only be eligible to take admission in PG courses. At the time of admission, candidates will be required to submit certificates from competent authority in support of accreditation of the Institute/University from which the candidate has obtained his/her bachelor degree.

(iv) All the candidates are required to submit photocopy of all transcripts at the time of Counseling/ admission.

(B) Agricultural Engineering (M.Tech.):

(i) Candidates must have passed 4-year Bachelor Degree examination in Agricultural Engineering. General and OBC candidates must secure Overall Grade Point Average (OGPA) of at least 6.50 in 10.00 scale, whereas for SC/ST/PwD candidates the said requirement is at least 5.50 in 10.00 scale. In traditional system where grade points are not awarded, the General and OBC category candidates must have secured at least 60% marks, whereas for SC/ST/PwD categories the requirement is at least 50% marks.

(ii) Candidates must have passed Higher Secondary or equivalent examination (10+2) and securing at least 45% in aggregate for general and OBC candidates and 40% for SC/ST/PwD candidates.

(iii) In respect of candidates who earlier got admitted in B.Tech. (Ag. Engg.) programme through Lateral Entry Scheme, marks obtained by them in Diploma course will be considered in place of H.S. score. In this case, student under Lateral Entry Scheme, candidate must have passed with 60% marks under General and OBC category and 55% marks for SC/ST/PwD category.

(iv) Candidate who might have obtained his/her B.Tech Degree from any University where the concerned Faculty/College/Programme is not approved by AICTE or is not aided by the State/Central Government shall not be eligible for admission to Master Degree programme.

(v) Applicants having Bachelor Degree from other University or college will have to produce a certificate from appropriate authority mentioning that the concerned Faculty/College/ Programme is either AICTE approved or is aided by State/Central Government, before taking admission/ reporting, failing which his/her candidature is liable to be cancelled.

(vi) All the candidates are required to submit photocopy of all the transcripts at the time of Counseling/reporting for admission.

(5) MODE OF APPLICATION (ONLINE) AND PAYMENT OF FEES (ONLINE) :

III. BLOOD ELECTROPHORESIS (THALASSAEMIA) TEST REPORT:

Candidates who will be admitted in this University are required to submit self-attested copy of Blood Electrophoresis (Thalassaemia) test report to the Registrar’s Department (Admission & Scholarship Section) within 1 (one) month from the date of admission.

IV. ANTI-RAGGING: Candidates who will be admitted in this University are required to submit necessary Affidavit/ Declaration / Undertaking to the office of the Dean, Students’ Welfare (DSW) on the date of reporting.

(9) ADMIT CARD For Entrance Examination:

Candidates eligible to appear in the Entrance Examination of M.Sc. / M.Tech. programme are required to bring the computer generated Admit Card along with two copies of duly self attested passport size photograph on the day of the entrance examination.

(10) SCHEDULE FOR ENTRANCE EXAMINATION:
  • Entrance test will be held Module-wise;
  • Entrance test for all the modules will be held on the same day in three separate time slots, specified for the three Groups (A/B/C) [as per Annexure-III];
(11) Special Attention :
  • Canvassing in any form will lead to disqualification of the application.

(a) Out of total seats (Department/Programme-wise):

  • 70% seats will be reserved as University seats;

(f) Vacancies created under URS category at a later stage, will be filled-up by candidates already admitted under Non- URS (Project Fellow, UGC/CSIR Fellow and Self- Finance category), as per merit list;

(g) Project Research Fellows are to be filled by domicile and non-domicile candidates as per merit list and also as per teacher-student ratio following ICAR accreditation norms.

(h) Any candidate engaged in any Project may take admission in Doctoral Degree programmes, provided his/her name must appear in the Merit List. Moreover, the tenure of the project must be at least of two years. The cut-off date for considering such tenure of the project would be from the date of advertisement.

(i) The ICAR left over seats, if any, will be filled up by the students of BCKV only.

(j) Only one time up-gradation in respect of fellowship will be allowed as per merit list.

(k) If any vacant seat in In-Service category remains, that would be filled up from Non-URS category following the roster point, from BCKV student as per merit list.

(5) ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION :

(i) A student can opt for admission to doctoral degree programme in a discipline only in which he/she has obtained M.Sc./M.Tech. degree.

(ii) Candidates must have passed 4-year Bachelor Degree programme followed by 2-year Master Degree programme in Agriculture / Horticulture /Agril. Engineering from duly recognized University. Students under General and OBC categories must secure Overall Grade Point Average (OGPA) of at least 6.50 in 10.00 scale and the students under SC/ST/PwD categories must secure OGPA of at least 5.50 in10.00 scale in both Bachelor and Master degree examination. In traditional system where grade points are not awarded, the General and OBC category candidates must have secured at least 60% marks whereas for SC/ST/PwD categories, the requirement is at least 50% marks.

(iii) In the doctoral degree programme in Agriculture and Horticulture, candidates must have passed Higher Secondary or equivalent examination (10+2) in general stream or vocational stream securing at least 50% marks in aggregate for General and OBC categories, whereas for SC/ST/PwD categories the said requirement is 40% marks.

(iv) In the doctoral degree programme in Agricultural Engineering, candidates must have passed Higher Secondary or equivalent examination (10+2) with subjects and minimum marks of 45% for general and OBC candidates and 40% for SC/ST/PwD candidates.

(v) Candidate who might have obtained his or her Master Degree from a University where the concerned Faculty/College/ Programme is not accredited by ICAR or is not aided by State/Central Government or is not AICTE approved, shall not be eligible for admission to doctoral degree programme.

(vi) Applicants having Master degree from other University will have to produce a certificate from appropriate authority mentioning that the concerned Faculty /College/ Programme in the University is either ICAR-accredited or State Government aided or AICTE approved before taking admission / reporting, failing which the candidature is liable to be cancelled.

(vii) Student have passed M. Sc.(Ag.) in Soil & Water Conservation , they are allowed for application for admission in Ph.D. Programme in the Department of Agronomy/Soil Science.

(viii) All the candidates are required to submit photocopy of all the transcripts at the time of counseling / reporting for admission.

(6) IN-SERVICE CANDIDATE :

(i) In-Service seat matrix has been mentioned in Annexure-II.

(ii) In-service candidates, serving in a Govt. Organization/Institute/University at least for three (3) years, are eligible for admission to Doctoral Degree programme. The candidates need to apply through online portal.

(iii) In-Service candidates are required to send a printed copy of filled-in online application form, duly forwarded by his/her employer, to the Registrar, BCKV, so as to reach the university before commencement of counseling/admission.

(iv) For in-service candidates, the entrance test is not required. However, the candidate has to appear for one on-line/off-line interview before the interview board.

(v) In-Service candidates must submit a “NO OBJECTION CERTIFICATE” from his/ her present employer during counselling /at the time of reporting. After admission, the concerned students have to submit an approval letter of leave for a period of 3 (three) years, issued by his/her employer, within two (2) months from the date of admission /reporting, failing which his/her admission will be treated as cancelled without any further intimation.

(10) ADMIT CARD For Entrance Examination:

Candidates eligible to appear in the Entrance Examination of Doctoral Degree programme are required to bring the computer generated Admit Card along with two copies of duly self attested passport size photograph on the day of the entrance examination.

(11) SCHEDULE FOR ENTRANCE EXAMINATION: Annexure-III

• Admission test will be held Discipline-wise

• Admission test for all the Disciplines will be held on the same day in one time slot;

(12) Special Attention :
  • Canvassing in any form will lead to disqualification of the application.
  • On the day of reporting, candidates who will be found eligible after verification of documents with the data provided in the application form, will only be allowed to take final admission.
  • Hostel accommodation will be provided subject to availability of vacancy.
  • The decision of the Admission Committee will be treated as final.
