Broadcasting live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, this grand event commemorated 50 years of Hip Hop and recognized Busta Rhymes with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award.

During the show, Patti LaBelle graced the stage to pay homage to Tina Turner, but appeared to momentarily forget the lyrics to “Simply The Best.” Nevertheless, she captivated the audience with her stunning performance. In another exciting moment, Coco Jones became the first recipient of the esteemed Best New Artist award.

The BET Awards continue to showcase remarkable talent and celebrate the achievements of artists across various fields.

Teyana “Spikey Tey” Taylor emerged victorious, clinching the prestigious Video Director of the Year award, although she couldn’t be present at the ceremony. Instead, her mother graced the stage and facilitated a video call with Teyana, who graciously accepted the award remotely. Another notable absence was Beyoncé, who scooped up two awards—BET Her and Viewers’ Choice—yet couldn’t attend to collect them in person.

The night was filled with remarkable moments, one of which was the reunion of Offset and Quavo, paying heartfelt tribute to the late Migos member, Takeoff. Additionally, Muni Long took a moment to acknowledge the vital role of writers amidst the ongoing Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike.

These highlights exemplify the significance of collaboration, remembrance, and recognition that permeated throughout the event.
