Online application forms for admission to Ph.D. programme 2023-2024 (Indian as well as Foreign Nationals) in various disciplines will be available on website www.amucontrollerexams.com as per following schedule:

⚫ Before filling online application form, the candidate is required to check the availability of vacancies /seats in the concerned discipline as notified on the website www.amecontrollerexams.com
⚫ A candidate can apply for admission to full time/part time Ph.D. Programme in only those discipline(s) inwhich vacancies have been notified on the Controller’s website.
⚫ Candidate eligible for admission to the Ph.D. programme in more than one Faculty of the University can apply for the same but such a candidate will have to fill separate Application Form for each Faculty.
However, s/he can apply only in a maximum of two disciplines within the same Faculty.
Eligibility Criteria: Aligarh Muslim University Ph.D Admission
A candidate will be eligible to apply for admission to Ph.D. Programme, if s/he has passed, in a subject relevant to her/his proposed field of research:
A l-year/2-semester master’s degree Programme after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree Programme or a 2-year/4-semester master’s degree Programme after a 3-year bachelor’s degree Programme or qualifications declared equivalent to the master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed.
OR
M.Phil. Programme with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed.ORA 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree Programme (with research) with a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade on a point scale wherever the grading system is followed.
The above shall be subject to any further requirements for eligibility that may be laid down by the University from time to time.
Provided that the relevant subjects for each discipline shall be as approved by the Academic Council from time to time on the recommendation of the concerned Board of Studies and Faculty.
Provided that a candidate, working in an externally funded research project in the University, who is otherwise eligible, will be eligible to apply for admission to Ph.D. Programme while continuing to work in the project subject to justification by the Principal Investigator of the project that the subject of the project and the proposed Ph.D. topic of the candidate are in consonance.
Provided that an Assistant Professor (Contractual) and Guest Teacher of this University will be eligible to apply for admission to part-time Ph.D. Programme if she fulfills the eligibility criteria and further requirements for eligibility that may be laid down by the Academic Council from time to time.
Provided that a permanent School teacher or Nursing Tutor of this University with five years of regular service will be eligible to apply for admission to part-time Ph.D. Programme if s/he fulfills the eligibility criteria and further requirements for eligibility that may be laid down by the Academic Council from time totime.
Provided that a permanent Non-teaching employee of this University with five years of regular service will be eligible to apply for admission to part-time Ph.D. Programme if s/he fulfills the eligibility criteria and further requirements for eligibility that may be laid down by the Academic Council from time to time.
Note: A relaxation of 5% of marks, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, in the qualifying examination may be allowed for Differently Abled Candidates.
Criteria for Admission: Aligarh Muslim University Ph.D Admission 2023-2024
1. Selection of candidates in Ph.D. programme will be made through an admission test comprising
(a) a written test and
(b) Presentation-cum-interview (for those who qualify the written test and are short-listed for Presentation-cum-interview);
subject to exemptions given under para 3.1(ii)) & 3.1(iii) of Chapter XXV(E) of the Ordinances (Academic)
2. Candidates who qualify for fellowship/ scholarship in UGC-NET/UGC-CSIR NET / GATE / CEED and similar National level tests with a score more than or equal to the qualifying marks of General Category, valid at the time of admission, are exempted from appearing in the written test.
However, they must appear in the presentation-cum- interview in person to become eligible for selection.
3. Foreign nationals are exempted from appearing in the written test. However, they must appear in the presentation-cum-interview in person or through video conferencing person to become eligible for selection.
