West Bengal Police Recruitment Board Constables and Lady Constables Posts

The recruitment to the posts of Constables and Lady Constables in the Kolkata Police shall be made, through the West Bengal Police Recruitment Board. The Board shall invite application from eligible candidates through advertisement.

The appointment on compassionate-ground is excluded from the purview of the West Bengal Police Recruitment Board. Such appointments shall be done by the appropriate authority of Kolkata Police Directorate with prior approval of the State Government.

Eligibility-

(a) The applicant must be a citizen of India.
(b) Age: The applicant must not less than 18 (eightteen) years of age and must not be more than 27 (twenty seven) years as on 1st day of January of the year of advertisement for the recruitment. Upper age-limit shall be relaxable for the candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes as per extant rules / orders of the Government.
(c) Educational qualification : The applicant must have passed Madhyamik Examination from the West Bengal Board of secondary Education or its equivalent.
(d) Language :
(i) The applicant must be able to speak, read and write Bengali Language, provided that the provision will not be applicable to the persons who are permanent residents of hill sub-divisions of Darjeeling and Kalimpong Districts.
(ii) For the applicant of hill sub-divisions of Darjeeling and Kalimpong Districts, the provisions as laid down in the West Bengal Official Language Act, 1961 (West Ben. Act XXIV of 1961) shall be applicable.

Preliminary Test (Maximum-100 Marks)-
The candidates will have to qualify the Preliminary Test. The syllabus and the minimum qualifying marks will be decided by the West Bengal Police Recruitment Board (WBPRB).

Physical Measurement Test (PMT)-
All those candidates who have qualified Preliminary Test will be called for Physical Measurement Test. The candidates have to meet the minimum physical standards as mentioned in the chart below:-

Physical Efficiency Test (PET)-

The candidates who have passed the Physical Measurement Test (PMT) shall appear for the Physical Efficiency Test (PET) as detailed below:-
(a) The male candidates have to complete 1600 (sixteen hundred) meters distance run within 06 (six) minutes and 30 (thirty) seconds.
(b) The female candidates have to complete 800 (eight hundred) meters run within 04 (four) minutes 30 (thirty) seconds.

Written Examination (Maximum marks: 85)-

All those candidates who have passed all qualifying tests will be allowed to appear in the Written Examination. The Board will prepare the syllabus and conduct the examination. The marks obtained in the Written Examination will be taken into account while preparing the merit list for selection.

Interview (Maximum marks: 15)-

A limited number of candidates will be called for interview in accordance with merit. The minimum qualifying marks for getting the interview call will be decided by the Board. The marks obtained in the interview will also be taken into account while preparing the merit list for selection.

Reservation–

(a) 22% (twenty two Percent) posts will be reserved for Scheduled Castes candidates. 6% (six percent) posts will be reserved for Scheduled Tribes candidates, 10% (ten percent) posts will be reserved for Other Backward Classes (Category-A) candidates and 7% (seven percent) posts will be resrved for Other Backward Classes (Category-B) candidates in terms of extant Government order.

(b) 30% (thirty percent) posts will be reserved for exempted category candidates in terms of extant Government order.

(c) 15% (fifteen percent) posts will be reserved for Home Guards and National Volunteer Force (NVF) personnel who have completed 03 (three) years of service as on 1st January of the year of advertisement for recruitment.

(d) 10% (ten percent) posts will be reserved for civic volunteers who have completed 03 (three) years of service as on 1st January of the year of advertisement for recruitment.

(e) 2% (two percent) posts will be reserved for sports persons.

(f) The reservation of posts in terms of sub-rule (b), (c), (d) and (e) will be of horizontal nature.

Preparation of merit list–

The final merit list of provisionally selected candidates shall be prepared on the basis of the total marks obtained by the candidates in the Written Examination and the Interview.

Verification of testimonials–

All the candidates provisionally shortlisted for the Interview will be asked to appear for verification of all relevant testimonials. The procedure, date and venue for the verification of testimonials will be decided by the Board.

Verification of character and antecedents–

All provisionally selected candidates shall be required to fill up a Verification Roll which shall be thoroughly enquired into by the concerned Authority.

Medical Examination–

(a) All provisionally selected candidates will be sent for Medical Examination at the State Government designated hospitals.

(b) The selected candidates should be in good mental and physical health. They should be free from any deformity likely to interfere with efficient performance of their work.

(c) The candidates will undergo all necessary medical tests as prescribed by the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of West Bengal from time to time.

(d) The certificate of medical fitness will be issued by an authorised medical officer.

Appointing Authority–

Deputy Commissioner of Police, 1st Battalion, Kolkata Armed Police.

Saving–

Notwithstanding anything contained in these rules, any recruitment process continuing on the date of coming into force of these rules, shall be governed by the rules which existed at the time of advertisement of the said recruitment process.

Application Forms must be submitted through on-line only during the period from 29.05.2022 (00:01 hrs.) to 27.06.2022 (23:59 hrs.).

Applicants are advised to read the ‘Information to Applicants’ before applying. An editing window will be available for the applicants want to edit/rectify their personal information already submitted in their Application Form for 07 (seven) days w.e.f. 01.07.2022 (00:01 hrs.) to 07.07.2022 (23:59 hrs.).

To edit the personal information, the applicant will have to provide

(i) His/her Application Sl. No. or Registered Mobile Number and

(ii) Date of Birth (DOB) as entered in the Application.

On providing these information, the applicant will get an OTP to their Mobile Number. On successful verification of OTP the applicant will be allowed to edit his/her information (except permanent State)
