Named after the majestic Vindhyagiri mountain range in Karnataka, the frigate is part of the esteemed Project 17A program

The frigate 'Vindhyagiri' carries with it a profound legacy, paying homage to its predecessor, the former INS Vindhyagiri.

With an illustrious service spanning almost 31 years, from July 1981 to June 2012

the old Vindhyagiri participated in numerous challenging operations and multinational exercises.
