#LEO (Hindi) Official Trailer | Thalapathy Vijay | Sanjay Dutt | Lokesh Kanagaraj | Anirudh
It appears that fans of Thalapathy Vijay's upcoming film "Leo" are expressing their dissatisfaction with the impact of the streaming deal on the Hindi version's release.
"Leo" is an adaptation of "A History of Violence" directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, and it is set to release in theaters on October 19, 2023.
The digital streaming rights for "Leo" have been sold to Netflix with a deal that allows the film to be available on the streaming platform no later than November 18, 2023, which is within 30 days from the theatrical release.
Fans are unhappy with the 30-day window for the film to be on OTT, as they believe it's too soon for such a release.
The streaming deal has also had a negative impact on the distribution of the Hindi version of "Leo" in north India.
Major national multiplex chains like PVR Cinemas and Cinepolis have decided not to screen the film in their theaters in the north Indian sector.
Due to this decision, the makers of "Leo" are focusing on an extensive single-screen release and non-national chain multiplexes for the Hindi version, with plans to release it on at least 2,000 screens.
If the Hindi version receives positive word-of-mouth and performs well in theaters, the team may attempt to renegotiate the OTT deal for a longer window.
Fans are urging multiplexes to reconsider their decision, stating that a four-week gap between theatrical and OTT release should be sufficient for the film to perform well in theaters.
It's clear that fans are passionate about the film and are expressing their concerns regarding the distribution strategy for the Hindi version of "Leo."
They hope for a successful theatrical release in north India despite the streaming deal.
