India has officially announced its 15-player squad for the 2023 Cricket World Cup, which will be held at home.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed the squad on September 5th. Here is the list of players:

1. Rohit Sharma (Captain) 2. Shubman Gill 3. Virat Kohli 4. Shreyas Iyer 5. KL Rahul 6. Ishan Kishan

7. Suryakumar Yadav 8. Hardik Pandya (Vice-Captain) 9. Ravindra Jadeja 10. Axar Patel 11. Shardul Thakur 12. Jasprit Bumrah 13. Kuldeep Yadav 14. Mohammed Shami 15. Mohammed Siraj

Rohit Sharma will lead the team, with Hardik Pandya serving as his deputy. KL Rahul,

who had been recovering from a thigh injury he sustained during the IPL earlier in the year, has been deemed fit to participate and has made it into the squad.

He is expected to play in India's World Cup opener against Australia in Chennai on October 8th.

Unfortunately, Sanju Samson did not make the final cut, and two other players, Tilak Varma and Prasidh Krishna, have also been omitted from the squad.

In terms of batting, the team boasts a strong lineup, including Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav, and Ishan Kishan, who can also provide a keeping option.

The squad also features a significant emphasis on all-rounders with the inclusion of Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, and Shardul Thakur, providing valuable batting options.

The bowling attack will be led by Jasprit Bumrah, who has shown no signs of injury upon his return.

Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj are likely to be the first-choice pace bowlers, while Kuldeep Yadav will be the team's leading spin option.

All teams participating in the World Cup have until September 28th to make any changes to their squads, after which any alterations will require approval from the ICC.
