5.9 million tonnes inferred resources (G3) of lithium

Geological Survey of India has for the first time established 5.9 million tonnes inferred resources (G3) of lithium  in Salal-Haimana area of Reasi District of Jammu & Kashmir (UT).

DC Reasi says, "Geological Survey of India was working for past 5-6 years on bauxite reserves in Salalkote area. As per their report, there is availability of 5.9 million tonnes of lithium reserves in this bauxite composite."

China is the fifth largest lithium producer country globally, Chinese companies control half of global lithium production and over 70% of Li  battery production.

Geological Survey of India announced that lithium reserves have been found for the first time in India in Reasi district, Jammu and Kashmir.  Largest Lithium reserves globally in tonnes:  1) Chile - 8M 2) India - 5.9M 3) Australia - 2.7M 4) Argentina - 2M 5) China - 1M

These two companies held 30% of the global market share. Ireland, Canada and Zimbabwe host Chinese state-owned lithium mining companies.  World’s 148 out of 200 Li battery mega factories are located in China, Europe (21) North America (11)
