Applications in prescribed form are invited through online only at www.ubkv.ac.in. / https://admissionubkv.in/PG-admission/ for admission to Ph.D. Programme under Research Scholar / In-service Research Scholar category in the following disciplines under the Faculties of Agriculture and Horticulture for the session 2022-2023.

The candidate must satisfy one of the qualifications as given in Annexure-I as indicated against the relevant disciplines to which admission is sought in Ph. D. Programme.

  • The number of seats may change subject to availability of  eligible teacher/Guide in each Department.
  • Submission of Accreditation Certificate in attached format (Annexure) is mandatory.
  • 02 Seats shall be reserved for Kashmiri migrants over and above the normal student intake.
  • SC/ST/OBC candidates of outside the state of West Bengal shall be treated as General category candidates.
  • Foreign students will be admitted following University Guideline only.

Information to Candidates:

# Application for admission to Ph. D. Degree Programme is to be made ONLINE only.

# Students who obtain their Master Degree from any Private University where the particular Faculty/College is not accredited by ICAR are not eligible for admission to Ph.D. Programme.

The details of Admission Programme are furnished below :

  1. Starting date of submission of application form through online – 26.09.2022
  2. Last date of submission of application form – 16.10.2022
  3. Date of Entrance Test: 03.11.2022 (tentative)
  4. Date of publication of merit list – to be notified later
  5. Date of counseling and admission – to be notified later
  6. Classes will commence on and from – to be notified later

Essential Qualification:

  1. Consistently good academic records with Master’s Degree in Agriculture /Horticulture / Forestry Science having at least 65% marks or an OGPA of 6.5 out of 10.00 or 3.75 out of 5.00 or 3.0 out of 4.00 or 2.25 out of 3.00 for general and OBC category (for SC/ST/PH candidate 60 % marks or OGPA 6.0 out of 10.00 or 3.44 out of 5.00 or 2.75 out of 4.00 or 2.06 out of 3.00) in Master’s degree programme from any recognized Indian/Foreign University followed by Bachelors’ Degree in Agricultural / Horticultural / Forestry Science under 10+2+4 or 10+1+4 or 11+4.
  2. Experience of Dissertation in University / Institute for at least one year.
  3. Minimum age for admission is 23 years as on 31/12/2022.
  • Students passed with three years Bachelor degree course are not eligible. Application fees:

# No application form without deposition of fee will be considered.

# Only PWD candidates whose disability percentage are 40% or above, are exempted from application fees. However, there is no PWD seat separately in any department and will be treated as per their respective caste category.

PREPARATION OF MERIT LIST:

The final admission will be conducted strictly on the basis of merit and according to the position in the merit list.

The Score shall be calculated as per following table-

An additional 5 marks for NET qualified candidates in relevant subject as weightage while preparing the merit panel subject to verification by the concerned Department and fulfilling the minimum qualifying marks obtained in entrance test.

Provision of Scholarship:

# State Merit Scholarship will be offered to the admitted state domiciled candidates as per merit panel in descending order and availability of scholarship under the respective Department

Documents required during application process and document verification:

# At the time of submission of application or on the day of VERIFICATION, the candidate will have to attach the attested photocopy of the following documents.

  • Proof of date of birth (Birth certificate from competent authority, admit card of Madhyamik or equivalent examination).
    • Bachelor’s degree certificate and mark sheet.
    • Masters’ degree mark sheets of first, second and third semesters for admission to Ph.D. On the day of admission the candidate needs to submit the final marksheet and PDC of Master Degree programme.
  • Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribe certificate from District Magistrate or the authorities empowered to issue such certificate.
    • Four recent signed passport size photographs to be affixed in the space provided at the application form.
    • Character certificate from the Head of the Institute, last attended.
    • Migration certificate to be submitted within 2nd semester.
    • Anti-ragging declaration in the given format (to be given within 2 weeks of admission).
    • Students need to upload a certificate in prescribed format issued by the registrar of the University stating that particular degree programme is accredited by ICAR.
    • Self-attested copy of domicile certificate as per the format available in the admission portal or website of the University (Format: jpg/pdf, Size 200 kb -300 kb)
    • In-Service Candidates need to bring a No Objection Certificate from their Institute / Organization at the time of admission.
    • Any other document uploaded during application need to be produced in original

# Production of original certificates, uploaded documents and mark sheets at the time of VERIFICATION is an essential requirement which is not relaxable in any case under any circumstances.

# If any document/information submitted by the candidate is found to be false at any stage, the University shall cancel the admission or terminate such candidates/students from the University.

# Admission of PWD category candidates need the fitness certificate issued by the medical officer of the University.

#Any dispute relating to the admission shall be settled within the jurisdiction of Coochbehar, West Bengal.

The University reserves the right not to admit any candidate if so decided by admission committee.

Hostel accommodation may not be available for all admitted candidates due to shortage of space

N.B.: No admission form will have to be sent to University

  • After admission, Maximum 2 (Two) state domicile students per Department will be awarded State Merit Scholarship subject to availability of Guide.

·       SC/ST/OBC Candidates of outside the state of West Bengal will be treated as General category candidate.

  • Applicants of Research Scholar and In-service category have to pay in separate application for consideration in all applied category.

·       Foreign students will be admitted following University Guideline only.

  • 02 Seats shall be reserved for Kashmiri migrants over and above the normal student intake. There shall be a relaxation in cut off percentage up to 10% subject to the minimum eligibility requirement.

Annexure – II

  1. The Entrance Test for admission to Ph. D. degree course in a discipline of Agriculture/ Horticulture / Forestry for Research Scholar, In-service Research Scholar and Project Fellow of session 2022-23 will be held on 03/11/2022 (tentatively) from 11:00 am onward as per ICAR syllabus of concerned M.Sc. Courses.
  2. Duration of the Test – 1 hour; Total marks – 60
  3. Questions pattern: MCQ type Questions with four alternatives, each of 1 marks (60×1=60).
  4. Qualifying marks of the Entrance Test – 35 % for General, OBC-A & OBC-B categories and 30% for SC, ST categories of the Test.
  5. There will be negative marks for MCQ is 0.25 for each wrong answer.
  6. The syllabus for entrance test in Ph.D. (Agriculture), Ph.D. (Horticulture) and Ph.D. (Forestry) is available in the University Website www.ubkv.ac.in)
