Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) still have a chance to qualify for the Eliminator in WPL 2023, despite a poor start to the season. However, they need every result to go their way from here on, including Mumbai Indians losing to them and beating other teams, Delhi Capitals losing to Mumbai Indians, and Gujarat Giants beating UP Warriorz.

RCB must also win all their remaining three games, starting with their match against UP Warriorz on March 15.

Of RCB’s five straight losses, their defeat to Delhi Capitals hurt the most but also gave them confidence. They showed a spin-enabled comeback to drag a sub-par 150 chase to the final over, and their death-overs fightback was on display, which had been missing from them in the first leg.

Ellyse Perry and Richa Ghosh’s partnership worth 74 runs are positive signs for RCB, who have struggled for acceleration after bright starts in the powerplay.

However, they also need their captain to return to her dominating self at the top of the order. Bowling-wise, Perry, Megan Schutt, and their uncapped spinners did well to pull Delhi Capitals back towards the end, and it was the most economical their bowling had been this season.

UP Warriorz, on the other hand, have had an ebb and flow campaign so far. They have won every match followed by a loss, which is something they want to rectify soon.

Warriorz will be hoping to prolong RCB’s misery and consolidate their third spot. Their strength lies in spin, and Sophie Ecclestone, Deepti Sharma, and Rajeshwari Gayakwad will be their go-to bowlers.

With the pitches showing some mercy to bowlers, Warriorz would be looking to capitalize on their spin strength. Healy and McGrath have hit top gear, but the overseas stars have mostly carried the batting responsibility, which remains an area of concern for them.
