After making the NEFT, the candidate are required to attach the scanned/digital copy of the Fee Payment Receipt with the application form [containing UTR No. or Transaction Reference No. for enabling the University to track the payment (through UTR) made by the candidate].

Downloaded form shall accompany with ‘Fee Payment Receipt’ of requisite price for the following posts. Completed application (with API, wherever applicable) in the prescribed form along with photocopies of two sets plus one Pen drive containing of all credentials/documents must reach the office of the Registrar, The University of Burdwan, Rajbati, Burdwan -713104, West Bengal, India by 05:30 p.m. of 30.06.2022, to be submitted either by hand or through Post Office/Courier Service (through proper channel, in case of already employed candidates).

No application will be accepted after 05:30 pm of 30.06.2022. Applicants must have the minimum qualifications and experiences as per relevant latest recruitment guidelines and Memorandum of Government of West Bengal [No. 1081 – Edn. (U)/IU-91/10, dt.15/12/2021, based on UGC’s notification No. F1-2/2017, dt. 18.07.2018 notified in Gazette of India on 18/07/2018 & F 9-1/2010 (PS/MISC) Pt. Vol. 1 dt.11.10.21] for the direct recruitment of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor and Professor in the State-aided Universities.

Information relating to API (Academic Performance Indicator), wherever applicable, should be calculated as per latest Memorandum of the Govt. of West Bengal (vide No. 1081 – Edn(U)/IU- 91/10 dt. 15.12.2021) for the teachers in state aided universities is to be submitted as separate sheets supported with valid documents.

No TA/DA is admissible for attending the interview. It should be noted that possession of minimum eligibility shall not confer any right to be called for interview. 1. Qualifications for the Teaching Posts in Molecular Biology & Human Genetics

Professor: 01 (UR-1)

1. Eligibility (a or b) a.

  • An eminent scholar having Post graduate Degree (M.Sc.) with 55% marks or its equivalent grade in Human genetics/ Genetics/Zoology /Biochemistry / Molecular Biology / Biotechnology/ Physiology/Biophysics/ allied subjects (Details of other related information are available in Note 1).
  • Ph.D. degree and or post-doctoral research experience in the area of Human Genetics/Cell Biology/immunology/Genomics/allied areas as evident from high quality publications; actively engaged in research with evidence of published work with, a minimum of 10 (ten) research publications in the peer-reviewed or UGC listed journals and total research score of 120 as per the criteria given in Appendix-I, Table-1 as per Notification.
  • A minimum of 10 years of teaching experience in University / College as Assistant Professor / Associate Professor / Professor, and / or research experience at equivalent level at the University / National Level Institutions with evidence of having successfully guided doctoral candidates.

Or

b. An outstanding professionals, having a Ph.D. degree in the relevant / allied / applied disciplines, from any academic institutions (not-included in 1a) / industry, who has made significant contribution to the knowledge in the concerned / allied / relevant discipline, supported by documentary evidence provided he / she has ten years’ of experience.

Desirable Qualification:

(i) Research Experience in Human Genetics/Molecular Biology; (ii) A short research proposal outlining future plans to build up this emerging Department and outreach activity.

Associate Professor: 02 (SC-01, UR-1) 1.Eligibility:

(i) Post graduate Degree (M.Sc.) in Human genetics/ Genetics/Zoology/Biochemistry/Molecular Biology / Biotechnology/Physiology/ Biophysics/Cell Biology/immunology/Genomics/allied subjects. A Master’s degree with a least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale, wherever the grading system is followed) (Details of other related information are available in Note 1).

(i) A good academic record, with a Ph.D. degree in the area of Human Genetics/Molecular Biology /allied areas as evident from high quality publications.

( i) A minimum of eight years of experience of teaching and / or research in an academic / research position equivalent to that of Assistant Professor in a University, College or Accredited Research Institution / Industry with a minimum of seven publications in the peer reviewed or UGC listed journals and a total research score of Seventy- five (75) as per the criteria given in appendix-I, Table-1 as prescribed in the UGC Regulations, 2018.

Desirable Qualification:

  • Research Experience in Molecular Biology/Human Genetics/emerging areas of Human Genetics; (ii) Post-doctoral Research Experience in the above areas.

Assistant Professor: 04 (SC-1, UR-2, ST-1)

  1. Eligibility (a or b):

a.

i) Post Graduate Degree (M.Sc.) in Molecular Biology/Human genetics/ Genetics/ Zoology/ Biochemistry / Biotechnology/Physiology/ Biophysics/ allied subjects.

  • A master’s degree with 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed)in a concern / relevant /allied subject from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign University (Details of other related information are available in Note 1).
  • Area of Specialization /Domain Knowledge: Molecular Biology/Human genetics/ Genetics/ Zoology

/Biochemistry / Biotechnology/ Physiology/ Biophysics/ allied subjects.

Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidate must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC or the CSIR, or a similar test accredited by the UGC, like SLET/SET etc., in Molecular Biology/ Human genetics /allied discipline as per UGC norms.

However, the exemptions in this regard are specified in Note 2.

b.

The Ph.D. degree has been obtained from a foreign University / Institutions with a ranking among top 500 in the World University Ranking (at any time) by any one of the following:

(i) Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) (ii) The Times Higher Education (THE) or (iii) The Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) of the Shanghai Jiao Tong University (Shanghai).

The academic score as specified in Appendix-I (Table-2A) shall be considered for short listing of the candidates for interview only as prescribed in the UGC Regulations, 2018 and the selections shall be made on the basis of existing Government rules.

Desirable Qualification: (i) Research experience with high quality publications in reputed journals.

2. Qualifications for the Teaching Posts in Physiology

Professor: 01 (UR-1)

  1. Eligibility (a or b) a.
  2. An eminent scholar having B.Sc. (Honours) in Physiology and M.Sc. in Physiology with 55% marks or its equivalent grade (Details of other related information are available in Note 1).
  3. Ph.D. degree and or post-doctoral research experience in the area of Ergonomics and Occupational health/Sports Physiology/ Endocrinology and reproductive Physiology/ Biochemistry & Microbiology/ allied Bioscience subjects as evident from high quality publications; actively engaged in research with evidence of published work with, a minimum of 10 (ten) research publications in the peer-reviewed or UGC listed journals and total research score of 120 as per the criteria given in Appendix-I, Table-1 as per Notification.
  4. A minimum of 10 years of teaching experience in University / College as Assistant Professor / Associate Professor / Professor, and / or research experience at equivalent level at the University / National Level Institutions with evidence of having successfully guided doctoral candidates.

b.   • An eminent scholar having B.Sc. (Honours) in Physiology and M.Sc. in Physiology. A Master’s degree with at least 55% marks (Details of other related information are available in Note 1) (or an equivalent grade in a point scale, wherever the grading system is followed).
  • A good academic record, with a Ph.D. degree, teaching and research experience in the area of Ergonomics and Occupational health / Sports Physiology/ Endocrinology and reproductive Physiology/ Biochemistry & Microbiology/ allied Bioscience subjects as evident from high quality publications and actively engaged in research with evidence of published work with a minimum of prescribed research publications and or research score as per applicable evident from high quality publications as per prescribednorms.

  • Ph.D. degree and post-doctoral research experience in the area of Nutrition/ Applied Nutrition/ Biochemistry / Genetics & Metabolism / Functional Genomics & Microbiome/ Physiology / Endocrinology / Epidemiology / Community Medicine/Community Health as evident from high quality publications and actively engaged in research with evidence of published work with, a minimum of 10 (ten) research publications in the peer-reviewed or UGC listed journals and total research score of 120 as per the criteria given in Appendix-I, Table-1 as per Notification.

  • Ph.D. degree and or post-doctoral research experience in Electronics and Communication/any branch of electronics/ Electronics and Communication as evident from high quality publications; actively engaged in research with evidence of published work with a minimum of 10 (ten) research publications in the peer-reviewed or UGC listed journals and total research score of 120 as per the criteria given in Appendix-I, Table-1 as per Notification.

  • An eminent scholar having a Ph.D. degree in any one of the following subjects: Geography/ Geology

/Geoinformatics/ Geomatics/ Geospatial Science as evident from high quality publications; actively engaged in research with evidence of published work with, a minimum of 10 (ten) research publications in the peer-reviewed or UGC listed journals and total research score of 120 as per the criteria given in Appendix-I, Table-1 as per Notification.

(iii) A minimum of 10 years of teaching experience in University / College as Assistant Professor / Associate Professor / Professor, and / or research experience at equivalent level at the University / National Level Institutions with evidence of having successfully guided doctoral candidates.

Associate Professor: 02 (SC-01, UR-1) 1.Eligibility:

  • BA/BSc in Geography/ BSc in Geology.
  • MA/MSc in Geography/ MSc in Geology/ MSc in Geospatial Science/ MSc. in Geoinformatics/ MSc in Geomatics from a UGC recognised University/ Institute.
  • An eminent scholar having a Ph.D. degree in any one of the following subjects: Geography/ Geology

/Geoinformatics/ Geomatics/ Geospatial Science as evident from high quality publications; actively engaged in research as evident from high quality publications.

Assistant Professor: 04 ( SC-1, UR-2, ST-1)

1. Eligibility (a or b):

a.

  • BA/BSc in Geography/ BSc in Geology.
  • MA/MSc in Geography/ MSc in Geology/ MSc in Geospatial Science/ MSc. in Geoinformatics/ MSc in Geomatics from a UGC recognised University/ Institute.
  • A master’s degree with 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) in a concern / relevant /allied subject from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign University (Details of other related information are available in Note 1).

The academic score as specified in Appendix-I (Table-2A) shall be considered for short listing of the candidates for interview only as prescribed in the UGC Regulations, 2018 and the selections shall be made on the basis of existing Government rules.

Desirable Qualification:

(i) PG Diploma/Diploma (at least one year) in Geoinformatics/ Geospatial Science and allied disciplines from a recognized institute; (ii) Working knowledge (at least one year) of remote sensing and GIS software (Evidence in the form of published papers and/or reports may be provided); (iii) Knowledge of Computer Programming Languages (PYTHON, R, etc.).

6. Qualifications for the Teaching Posts in Psychology:

Professor: 01 (UR-01) Essential Qualifications

1. Eligibility (a or b) a.

  • BA/BSc in Psychology (Hons.).
  • MA/MSc in Psychology from a UGC recognised University/ Institute with 55% marks or its equivalentgrade (Details of other related information are available in Note 1).
  • An eminent scholar having a Ph.D. degree in Psychology as evident from high quality publications; actively engaged in research with evidence of published work with, a minimum of 10 (ten) research publications in the peer-reviewed or UGC listed journals and total research score of 120 as per the criteria given in Appendix-I, Table- 1 as per Notification.
  • A minimum of 10 years of teaching experience in University / College as Assistant Professor / Associate Professor / Professor, and / or research experience at equivalent level at the University / National Level Institutions with evidence of having successfully guided doctoral candidates.

Or

b. An outstanding professionals, having a Ph.D. degree in the relevant / allied / applied disciplines, from any academic institutions (not-included in A below) / industry, who has made significant contribution to the knowledge in the concerned / allied / relevant discipline, supported by documentary evidence provided he / she has ten years’ of experience.

Desirable Qualification

  • Post-Doctoral Research experience.
  • A short research proposal outlining future plans to build up this emerging Department and outreach activity.

Associate Professor: 02 (SC-01, UR-1)

1.Eligibility:

  • BA/BSc in Psychology (Hons.).
  • MA/MSc in Psychology from a UGC recognised University/ Institute. A Master’s degree with a least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale, wherever the grading system is followed) (Details of other related information are available in Note 1).
  • An eminent scholar having a Ph.D. degree in Psychology as evident from high quality publications; actively engaged in research asevident from high quality publications.
  • A minimum of eight years of experience of teaching and / or research in an academic / research position equivalent to that of Assistant Professor in a University, College or Accredited Research Institution / Industry with a minimum of seven publications in the peer reviewed or UGC listed journals and a total research score of Seventy- five (75) as per the criteria given in appendix-I, Table-1 as prescribed in the UGC Regulations, 2018.

Desirable Qualifications

(i) Post-Doctoral Research experience.

Assistant Professor: 04 (SC-1, UR-2, ST-1)

1. Eligibility (a or b):

a.

  • BA/BSc in Psychology (Hons.).
  • MA/MSc in Psychology from a UGC recognised University/ Institute.
  • A master’s degree with 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) in a concern / relevant /allied subject from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign University (Details of other related information are available in Note 1).

Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidate must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC or the CSIR, or a similar test accredited by the UGC, like SLET/SET etc., in Psychology/allied discipline as per UGC norms.

However, the exemptions in this regard are specified in Note 2.

Or

b.

The Ph.D. degree has been obtained from a foreign University / Institutions with a ranking among top 500 in the World University Ranking (at any time) by any one of the following:

(i) Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) (ii) The Times Higher Education (THE) or (iii) The Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) of the Shanghai Jiao Tong University (Shanghai).

The academic score as specified in Appendix-I (Table-2A) shall be considered for short listing of the candidates for interview only as prescribed in the UGC Regulations, 2018 and the selections shall be made on the basis of existing Government rules.

Desirable Qualification:

(i) Experiences in Clinical Psychology (preferable with special course, or Degree), or Experimental Psychology, or Rehabilitation, or Development & Child Psychology, or Organizational Psychology.

7. Qualifications for the Teaching Posts in Women’s Studies:

Professor: 01 (UR-1)

1. Eligibility (a or b) a.

  • An eminent scholar having Post graduate Degree (M.A) in any branch of Humanities from a UGC recognised University/ Institute with 55% marks or its equivalent grade (Details of other related information are available in Note 1).
  • An eminent scholar having a Ph.D. degree in Women’s Studies as evident from high quality publications; actively engaged in research with evidence of published work with, a minimum of 10 (ten) research publications in the peer-reviewed or UGC listed journals and total research score of 120 as per the criteria given in Appendix- I, Table-1 as per Notification.
  • A minimum of 10 years of teaching experience in University / College as Assistant Professor / Associate Professor / Professor, and / or research experience at equivalent level at the University / National Level Institutions with evidence of having successfully guided doctoral candidates.

Or

b. An outstanding professionals, having a Ph.D. degree in the relevant / allied / applied disciplines, from any academic institutions (not-included in A below) / industry, who has made significant contribution to the knowledge in the concerned / allied / relevant discipline, supported by documentary evidence provided he / she has ten years’ of experience.

Desirable Qualification

  • M.A in any branch of Humanities from a UGC recognised University/Institute. A master’s degree with 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) in a concern / relevant /allied subject from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign University (Details of other related information are available in Note 1).
  • Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidate must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC or the CSIR, or a similar test accredited by the UGC, like SLET/SET etc., Women Studies

/allied discipline as per UGC norms.

However, the exemptions in this regard are specified in Note 2.

Or

b.

The Ph.D. degree has been obtained from a foreign University / Institutions with a ranking among top 500 in the World University Ranking (at any time) by any one of the following:

8. Qualifications for the Teaching Posts in Physical Education

Professor: 01 (UR-1)

  • An eminent scholar having Post graduate Degree in Physical Education (M.P.Ed./M.P.E.) with 55% marksor its equivalent grade (Details of other related information are available in Note 1).
  • Ph.D. degree in the area of Physical Education
  • At least ten years (10) of teaching/research experience in a department/college of Physical Education out of which at least five years at the Post-graduate institution/university department. Publications in the peer-reviewed or UGC listed journals and total research score of 120 as per the criteria given in Appendix-I, Table-1 as per Notification.

Or

b. An outstanding professionals, having a Ph.D. degree in the relevant / allied / applied disciplines, from any academic institutions (not-included in A below) / industry, who has made significant contribution to the knowledge in the concerned / allied / relevant discipline, supported by documentary evidence provided he / she has ten years’ of experience.

Note: Any other stipulation prescribed by the UGC/affiliating body/State Govt. from time to time.

Desirable

(i) Research Experience in Physical Education

Associate Professor: 02 (SC-01, UR-1)

1. Eligibility:

  • Post graduate Degree in Physical Education (M.P.Ed./M.P.E.) with 55% marks or its equivalent grade (Details of other related information are available in Note 1).
  • Ph.D. degree in the area of Physical Education.
  • At least eight years (8) of teaching/research experience in a department/college of Physical Education out of which at least three years at the Post-graduate level.

A minimum of seven publications in the peer reviewed or UGC listed journals and a total research score of Seventy- five (75) as per the criteria given in appendix-I, Table-1 as prescribed in the UGC Regulations, 2018.

Note: Any other stipulation prescribed by the UGC/affiliating body/State Govt. from time to time.

Desirable Qualification:

(i) Research Experience in Physical Education or allied subjects

Assistant Professor: 04 (SC-1, UR-2, ST-1)

1. Eligibility (a or b):

a.

(i) Post graduate Degree in Physical Education (M.P.Ed./M.P.E.) with 55% marks or its equivalent grade (Details of other related information are available in Note 1).

Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidate must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC or the CSIR, or a similar test accredited by the UGC, like SLET/SET etc., in Physical Education discipline as per UGC norms.

b.

NOTE 1. Relaxation of Marks for Direct Recruitment of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor and Professor:

i. A relaxation of 5% may be provided at the Graduate and Masters level for the Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes/Differently-abled (physically and visually differently-abled) / other Backward Classes (non-creamy layer) categories for the purpose of eligibility and for assessing good academic records during direct recruitment to teaching positions. However, differently-abled (physically and visually) candidates are not eligible for any marks relaxation in Physical Education discipline.

i. The minimum qualifying marks of 55% is relaxable by 5% marks (from 55% to 50%) at the Master level for Ph.D. Degree holders who have obtained their Master’s degree prior to September 19, l99l.

i. The eligibility marks of 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) and the relaxation of 5% to the categories mentioned above are permissible, based on only the qualifying marks without including any grace mark procedures.

iv. All the essential qualifications must have been obtained from a recognized University/ Institute. By a recognized University / Institute is meant a University / institute affiliated to UGC/other statutory apex bodies, or recognized by the State or Central Government as a centre of higher learning. In case of a foreign University, the degree concerned should be recognized as equivalent to its Indian counterpart by the Association of Indian Universities.

NOTE 2. NET/SLET/SET Exemption for the Post of Assistant Professor:

  1. The candidates who have been awarded Ph.D. Degree in the same or in a relevant subject in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for award of Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009 or Regulation 2016 are exempted from qualifying in the Eligibility Test (NET/SLET/SET).
  2. Candidates registered for Ph.D. programme prior to 11 July, 2009 shall be exempted from qualifying in the Eligibility Test (NET/SLET/SET) as described hereinafter:

The award of Degree to candidates registered for the Ph.D. programme prior to July 11, 2009, shall be governed by the provisions of the then existing Ordinances/ Bye laws/ Regulations of the institutions awarding the Degree in the same or relevant subject shall be exempted from the requirement of NET/SLET/SET, subject to fulfilment of the following conditions:

  1. Ph.D. degree of the candidate awarded in regular mode only.
  2. Evaluation of the Ph.D. thesis by at least two external examiners.
  3. Open Ph.D. viva voce of the candidate had been conducted.
  4. Candidate has published two research papers from his/her Ph.D. work out of which at least one must be in a refereed journal.
  5. Candidate has made at leasttwo presentations in conferences/seminars, based on his/her Ph.D work.

The fulfillment of these conditions is to be certified by the Registrar or the Dean (Academic Affairs) of the University Concern.

Age: The upper age limit is 40 years on the 1st January of the year of the advertisement and relaxable up to 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC Category (non-creamy layer) candidates for the post of Assistant Professor. Differently- abled candidates (except in the post of Physical Education are entitled to an age relaxation of 10 years).

Reservation: The State Government norms regarding reservation as amended from time to time shall be followed. This order is issued in suppression of all previous orders issued in this regard. This order shall come in force with immediate effect in order to initiate the recruitment procedure of the teachers in State-aided universities in West Bengal.

General instructions to the candidates:

  1. Candidates applying for more than one post will have to apply separately for eachpost.
  2.        Persons employed in Government / Semi-government organizations / Autonomous bodies should submit their application through proper channel. They may, however, send an advance copy of the application. Thosewho are unable to process their application through proper channel may submit a ‘NO OBJECTION CERTIFICATE’ from the present employer at the time of the interview. However, they should also submit an undertaking to that effect along the application form. No direct application form such candidates will be entertained.
  3. Candidates belonging to the OBC-A and OBC-B categories, whose caste certificate was issued more than one year ago, must produce a ratification certificate from the issuing competent authority that they do not belong to the creamy layer as on date of advertisement along with a copy of the previous certificate. For reservation for SC, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B the certificates issued by the competent authority within the state of West Bengal shall only be considered valid. Such certificates issued by other states shall not be considered for the purpose of reservation. However, such candidates may apply as unreserved candidates.
  4. The university reserves the right of rejecting any or all the applications without assigning any reason thereof.
  5.        Mere eligibility will not vest any right on any candidate for being called for interview / in any other form of selection process. Only the short listed candidates will be called for interview. The decision of the university in all matters will be final.
  6. A candidate belonging to any reserve category who also desires to be considered for any unreserved post in addition to the post under Reserve Category will have to submit separate forms with requisite fees for UR posts and Reserve posts.
  7. All the original documents will be required at the time of interview for necessary verification (if called).
  8.         No correspondence from the candidates will be entertained in connection with the process of selection. Canvassing in any form will entail disqualification of Candidature.
  9.        (i) Appointment will be made on probation for one year. On satisfactorily completion of the probation period the incumbent concerned will be consider for being confirmation in service. (ii) Service conditions as will be notified by order of the Higher Education Dept., Govt. of West Bengal from time to time will be applicable.
  10.        Front page/Page(s) with proper mentioning of ISBN/ISSN/DoI number of publications should be attached with the application form for the applicants for the post of Professor and Associate Professor and the original certificates and complete publications should be placed before the selection committee.
  11.        Incomplete applications, applications without self-attested copies of certificates, applications without the requisite fees, or applications received after the due date are liable to be rejected.
  12.        Candidates must write Advt. No. and “Name of the Post Applied For” on the top of the envelope for the post of Professor/Associate Professor/Assistant Professor.
  13. Any dispute (s), subject to jurisdiction will be under the Hon’ble High Court at Calcuttaonly.
