Three days National Workshop on Cloud Technology for Library Professionals.


The Information and Library Network (INFLIBNET) Centre is an autonomous Inter-University Centre (IUC) of the University Grants Commission (UGC) located in the Infocity, Gandhinagar. Major activities and services of the Centre are geared towards modernization of academic libraries and information centres, promotion of information transfer and access, support scholarship, learning and academic pursuits.

The Centre acts as a nodal agency for networking of libraries and information centres in universities, institutions of higher learning and R & D institutions in India. The Centre was established as an independent autonomous Inter-University Centre of the UGC in May 1996 and set out to be a major player for promoting scholarly communication among academicians and researchers across the country.

The technology being a driving force in the contemporary education system, the Centre has taken-up a number of initiatives for the benefit of the academic community in India. These initiatives include

i) IndCat, a unified online catalogue of books, theses and journals available in major university libraries in India;

ii) SOUL 2.0, state-of-the- art integrated library management software;

iii) e-Shodh Sindhu for extending access to selected scholarly electronic journals and databases to eligible universities, centrally-funded technical institutions and colleges in different disciplines;

iv) Shodhganga for enabling online submission of doctoral theses and dissertations by research scholars in an open access digital repository;

v) Shodhgangotri for facilitating research scholars to submit approved synopsis of research proposals submitted to their universities;

vi) Open Journals Access System (OJAS) to facilitate faculty and researchers in Indian universities to launch their open access journals onOJAS platform;

vii) InfoPort: INFLIBNET’s Subject Gateway for Indian Electronic Resources;

viii) e-PG Pathshala, a project assigned to the UGC by NME-ICT, wherein e-content are being developed in 77 subjects at postgraduate level;

ix) VIDWAN, a premier database of profiles of scientists and faculty members working in leading academic institutions and other R & D organizations involved in teaching and research in India;

x) e-Acharya – an Integrated e-content portal: a web-based portal consisting of all e-content with funding from NME-ICT, MHRD;

xi) ICSSR Data Service: Social Science Data Repository for setting up of repository and hosting of NSS and ASI datasets into the data repository; and

xii) National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), a project assigned by MHRD for ranking institutions of higher education across the country.

About Workshop : National Workshop on Cloud Technology for Library Professionals

Cloud computing is a general term for the delivery of hosted services over the internet. Today number of institutes and their day-to-day activities are solely depended on IT. IT made the things faster, easier.

It has a worldwide user base that includes cultural heritage organizations, universities, business schools, research institutions, national libraries, and government agencies.

In this unique workshop, experts of Cloud will cover the fundamentals, installation of Shibboleth (remote campus access tool) and repository on Cloud for those who want to use the platform, and address the issues faced by those who are already running Cloud.

At the end of the workshop participants will gain more insights and in-depth knowledge on fundamentals of Cloud, installation and customization.

Major Topics : National Workshop on Cloud Technology for Library Professionals

The following major topics will be covered in the workshop:

  • Introduction and Types of cloud;
  • Usage of Public Cloud;
  • Shibboleth Single Sign-On Software installation on cloud Virtual Machine; and
  • Institutional Repository (IR) on cloud.

Prominent experts from INFLIBNET Centre, working in the Cloud, Datacenters and Institutional Repository area.

Target Participants

Library professionals, information scientists, system administrators, database managers, students and others working in universities/colleges/institutes who are interested in libraries on cloud environment. A maximum of 25- 30 candidates will be enrolled for the training programme on First Come-First-Served basis.


Participant should have basic/interest to learn Cloud, Institutional Repository and Enabling remote campus access system.

Duration: Three Days (07-09 September, 2022)


The Training programmer will be conducted at Information and Library Network Centre, An IUC of University Grants Commission, Infocity, Gandhinagar-382007, Gujarat, India (No online mode)

Workshop Fee

The registration fee is Rs. 3,540.00 (Rupees Three Thousand Five Hundred Forty only) per person without accommodation and Rs. 5,900.00 (Rupees Five Thousand Nine Hundred Only) with accommodation which is inclusive of GST rates.

It covers the cost of the training programme kit containing training materials, breakfast, lunch and dinner during the training period. The payment should be made through Demand Draft in favour of INFLIBNET Centre payable at Gandhinagar along with the filled-in registration form.

Fee is non-refundable and non-adjustable. The Centre also accepts payment by NEFT /RTGS for the workshop. The bank account details will be shared on request.


The Centre will arrange accommodation during the period of training at INFLIBNET Guest House (A/C Room) on twin sharing basis. The participants must send prior intimation and charges for accommodation along with registration fees. The accommodation will be provided first come first basis.


The application for registration to the workshop should be submitted online at on or before 31st August, 2022.
