The Technical University of Munich offers Several positions in the PhD program “Advanced Optimization in a Networked Economy“
The Research Training Group “Advanced Optimization in a Networked Economy,” funded by the German Science Foundation (DFG) and jointly hosted by the School of Computation, Information and Technology and the School of Management, offers several doctoral positions starting in September 2023.
About us
We are an international and interdisciplinary group of mathematicians, computer scientists, economists, and operations researchers working together on challenging projects to develop and apply innovative mathematical methods for efficiently allocating and coordinating resources in modern logistics networks, transportation, and mobility systems.
Our collective expertise spans algorithmic game theory, approximation algorithms, combinatorial optimization, inventory management, integer programming, machine learning, market and mechanism design, online algorithms, operations management, operations research, process mining, production logistics, robust optimization, scheduling, stochastic modeling, and supply chain management.
We offer Students with a background in operations research, applied mathematics, computer science, or a related field and a strong interest in interdisciplinary work will be offered a comprehensive study, training, and research program.
While working in an interdisciplinary environment, students still pursue the doctoral degree in their respective departments (ie., computer science, mathematics, or management science). Further information is available at
The Ph.D. positions are paid according to TV-L E 13 (75%) and initially limited to three years (extensions may be possible).

Your qualifications
We expect an excellent degree in Operations Research, Computer Science, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field.
Very good written and verbal communication skills in English are required. German language skills are not needed for this position.
