About Sidho-Kanho-Birsha University (SKBU)

Sidho-Kanho-Birsha University (SKBU) is a state university located in Purulia, West Bengal, India. It was established in the year 2010 and is named after the three great freedom fighters Sidho, Kanho and Birsha. The university offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs in various faculties such as Arts, Science, Commerce, Education, Law and Engineering. The mission of the university is to provide quality education and to promote research and innovation in the fields of academics.

Applications in the prescribed Form are invited from bonafide candidates for filling up the following vacancy in substantive Officer Post as noted below:

Officer post: -1. University Librarian

General instructions, eligibility criteria, category of post, format of application form are available in the university website: One original plus five photocopies of the application form duly filled up with all testimonials/ documents, complete in all respect along with required fees must reach by post to the above-mentioned address in a sealed envelope superscripting the name of the post in the top of the envelope within 28.02. 2023, by 5 PM.

Minimum Qualifications :

i) A Master ‘s Degree in Library Science/Information Science/Documentation Science with at least 55% marks or an equivalent grade in a point -scale wherever the grading system is followed.

ii) At least ten years as a Librarian at any level in University Library or ten years of teaching as Assistant/Associate Professor in Library Science or ten years ‘experience as a College Librarian.

iii) Evidence of innovative library services, including the integration of ICT in a library. iv) A Ph.D. Degree in library science/information science/documentation /archives and manuscript-keeping.


i. For assessing good academic record throughout the candidate’s career, the marks in each case mean the qualifying marks without any grace marks and/or rounding off procedures.

ii. The University shall verify the antecedents and documents submitted by a candidate at the time of appointment or during the tenure of the service. In case, it is detected that the documents are fake/false/mutilated or t h e Candidate has a clandestine antecedent and has suppressed the said information, then his/her services shall be terminated.

iii. In case of any unintentional mistake in the process of selection which may be detected at any stage even after the issue of appointment letter, the University reserves right to modify/withdraw/cancel any communication made to the candidate.

iv. In case of any dispute/indistinctness that may occur in the process of selection, the decision of the University shall be final.

v. Mere fulfillment of minimum qualification for a post does not guarantee a candidate to be called for interview. University bears the authority for primary screening based on the documents received from the applicants.

vi. Though Advance copy of application will be entertained, applicants who are in employment should submit their application through proper channel or should submit a “No Objection Certificate” from the present employer.

vii. Incomplete applications or applications without required supporting documents relating educational qualification, required experience and requisite fees will not be considered and will be discarded.

viii. Relaxation for candidates belonging to Reserve Categories will be guided by the State Govt. Rules, wherever applicable.

ix. x. Canvassing in any form will be a disqualification. xi. The University reserves the right to withdraw the advertised post at any time without giving any reason.
