ADMISSION NOTICE FOR LANGUAGE COURSES IN THE ACADEMIC SESSION JANUARY JUNE, 2025

The University invites applications from the eligible candidates for admission in the Certificate Courses of Level-1 (6-month duration) in the following languages under the School of Languages & Culture (SOLC) of the University on first-come first-served basis from 9th December, 2024 to 29 January, 2025 on all working days of the University (except University holidays):
(1) Arabic (ii) Chinese (iii) English (iv) French (v) Functional Bengali (vi) German (vii) Hindi (viii) Italian (ix) Japanese (x) Russian (xi) Sanskrit (xii) Santali (xiii) Spanish (xiv) Tamil (xv) Tibetan and (xvi) Urdu.
A. Minimum Qualifications for admission to Level-1
(1) The minimum requisite qualification for admission to the Courses of Level-1 (6-month duration) in the languages of Santali, Functional Bengali and English is Secondary (Madhyamik) or equivalent passed and
(2) The minimum requisite qualification for admission to the Courses of Level-1 (6-month duration) in other languages is Higher Secondary/Equivalent passed.
B. Minimum Qualifications for admission to Level-2, Level-3 and Level-4: For admission to Level-2, successful completion of Level-1 is mandatory and likewise, for admission to Level-3 and Level-4, successful completion of Levels-2 and 3 respectively are mandatory.
Availability of Application Form:
Application form along with Anti-Ragging declaration form may either be downloaded from the University website www.rbu.ac.in or collected from the Office of the School of Languages and Culture, RBU, E.B. Campus, 56A, B.T. Road, Kolkata 700050 from 9 December, 2024 to 29 January, 2025 on all working days of the University (except University holidays).
Admission to Level-1:
The duly filled-in Application Form and Anti-Ragging Declaration Form along with a recent passport-size colour photo, self attested copies of Admit card (Madhyamik & Equivalent Exam) and Mark sheets of all examinations passed (Madhyamik/HS/Graduation etc.) needs to be submitted at the time of admission.
The eligible candidates can take spot admission during the period from 9 December, 2024 to 29th January, 2025 on all working days of the University (except University holidays),
Admission to Level-2, Level-3 and Level-4:
Admission to Level-2, Level-3 and Level 4 will also take place during the period from 9 December, 2024 to 29 January, 2025 on all working days of the University (except University holidays). However, in the case of admission to Level- 2, Level-3 and Level-4, stipulated period of the date of admission will be relaxable depending on the dates of examinations and publication of results thereof of the preceding Levels.
Admission Timings:
From 12:30 p.m. to 3.30 p.m. from 9th December, 2024 to 29th January, 2025 on all working days of the University (except University holidays).
Course Fees:
(1) For English and other Foreign Language courses: 3000/- (Rupees three thousand unly) for Indian Citizens for Indian Language courses: 2300/- (Rupees two thousand three hundred only) for Indian Citizens
The above Course Fees of ₹3000/- and 22300/- are payable for each Level (Level-1, Level-2 Level-3 and Level -4).
Award of Certificates:
Certificates will be awarded after successful completion of each Level Le Level-1, Level-2,Level-3 and Level -4. Diploma Certificate will be awarded after successful completion of Level-4. Course Credit: Each level is of 5 credits and is of 6 months duration.
Class Timings:
Late Afternoons/Evenings, two days a week, including Saturday/Sunday for certain language courses. Classes will be held either in online or offline mode or in blending mode as per convenience.
Commencement of Classes:
The date of commencement of classes will be notified in due course.
General Instructions and Information to the Applicants:
i. Admission of a candidate will be cancelled if any information given by him/her is found to be wrong or suppressed.
ii. Duly filled-in application form must be signed by the candidate.
iii. Duly filled-in application form along with self attested copies of all mark sheets, certificates and other relevant documents has to be submitted by the candidates at the time of admission. The candidates will have to produce the original mark sheets and certificates for verification by the office of the School of Languages and Culture at the time of admission.
iv. In the event of number of admitted candidates in any particular Language Course at Level-1 becomes less than 5(five), the said Language Course will not be run. In such case, the admitted candidates will be given option either to shift to another Language Course or to apply for refund of the admitted fees enclosing the original admission receipt and cancelled cheque.
v. The admitted students shall be bound to abide by the rules and regulations issued by the University in this behalf from time to time.
vi. In case of any disputes, , the decision of the University will be final and binding to all concerned.
ANTI-RAGGING DECLARATION FORM
1. Shri/Ms. do hereby solemnly aver and undertake that
a) I will not indulge in any behavior or act that may be construed as ragging under the clause(s) of the UGC Regulations on Curting the Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions,
b) I will not participate in or abet or propagate through any act of commission or omission that may be construed as ragging under the clause(s) of the UGC Regulations on Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions.
c) I hereby affirm that, if found guilty of ragging, I shall be liable for punishment under the clause(s) of the UGC Regulations on Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions without prejudice to any other criminal action that may be taken against ime under the penal law or any law for the time being in force.
d) I also hereby declare that I have not been expelled or debarred from admission in any institution in the country on account of being found guilty of abetting or being part of a conspiracy to promote ragging, and further affirm that, in cuse the declaration is found to be untrue, I am aware that my admission is liable to be cancelled.
