Post doc position at University of Taxas. THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS AT DALLAS
PhD Student Positions in Climate Science at the University of Texas at Dallas
We invite 1-2 highly motivated PhD students to join Dr. Xian Wu’s Climate Dynamics and Prediction Lab at the University of Texas at Dallas (UT Dallas) for Fall 2025, with full support through Research or Teaching Assistantships. The priority application deadline for Fall 2025 admission is December 15, 2024, for full consideration for UT Dallas fellowships.
Research Focus: Post doc position at University of Taxas
Our lab studies the dynamics, prediction, and changes of the ocean-atmosphere coupled processes. The primary research areas include:
1) Understanding ocean-atmosphere interactions, including variability, changes, predictability, and impacts.
2) Developing and analyzing seamless Earth system predictions on seasonal to decadal timescales.
3) Improving climate models using hierarchical modeling tools, in-situ observations, and paleoclimate data. Based in UT Dallas’s Sustainable Earth Systems Sciences (SESS) Department, we assess the impacts of the physical climate system on the Earth system and human activities.
Dr. Xian Wu
Dr. Xian Wu (https://www.xianwuclimate.com) will join UT Dallas as an Assistant Professor on January 1, 2025. Before joining UT Dallas, Dr. Wu worked as a postdoctoral research scientist at Princeton University/NOAA Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Laboratory and the National Center for Atmospheric Research. She earned her Ph.D. from UT Austin and her B.S. from Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology.
Qualifications: Post doc position at University of Taxas
We are committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive research environment and encourage applicants with the following qualifications to apply:
- A strong interest in climate variability and change, climate prediction and modeling, and their interactions with other aspects of the Earth system and human activities.
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in atmospheric or oceanic sciences, environmental science, geophysics, Earth sciences, physics, mathematics, or computer science.
- Proficiency in programming (e.g., Python, MATLAB, NCL, or R) and data analysis is preferred.
