General Rules and Instructions

1. Pandit S. N. Shukla University, Shahdol invites online applications from the prospective applicants for DET-2022. The admission to Ph.D. shall be governed by Ordinance 11 and UGC Regulations 2009 and its subsequent amendments.

2. DET-2022 shall be held in the following subjects ONLY. Applicants should select the subject in which he/she wishes to take admission.

5. advised to visit university website regularly for updates. Ph.D. Entrance test (DET-2022) comprises of two parts

3. Applicants are advised to apply only if he/she fulfils the eligibility requirements. The onus of checking appropriate eligibility lies with the candidate.

4. Applicants must read and understand details given in the information brochure before filling the online application form.

5. No written communication regarding DET-2022 shall be provided.

6. Applicants are

(i) Entrance Examination.

(ii) Interview by Research Advisory Committee (RAC)

All successful candidates in Entrance Examination shall have to appear for Interview.

Candidates shall be admitted to Ph.D. programme only after approval of RAC.

7. Eligibility: An applicant for DET-2022, must hold a Master’s degree or equivalent in the concerned or allied subject with at least 55% Marks [(50% for SC/ST/OBC(Non-Creamy layers)/ Differently-abled category and other categories as per the decision of the UGC from time to time or for those who had obtained their Master’s degree prior to 19th September, 1991] from a university, a deemed university or other university incorporated by any law for the time being in force and recognized by Pandit S. N. Shukla University, Shahdol. The applicants appearing in the final semester / year examination may also apply but they have to submit their final result before submission of application for registration in Ph.D.

8. Reservation: Reservation for SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy layers)/EWS applicants is as per existing rules. This benefit of reservation will be offered to MP domicile applicants only.

9. Exemption from appearing at Entrance Examination of DET-2022: The candidates who have valid JRF awarded through UGC-NET or CSIR-NET; teacher fellowship for research awarded by UGC/AICTE; any other Government / Foreign

The candidates are expected to bring the No Objection Letter from the proposed Supervisor and Co-supervisor (if applicable) duly forwarded from the Head of the research centre. The candidates should also bring with them the following documents:

(a) Original certificates and mark sheets along with a self-attested copy of each of the certificate and mark sheet of 10″, 12″, Graduation, and Post-graduation.

(b) Original documents along with a self-attested copy of SC/ST/OBC-non-creamy layer/Divyang, MP domicile certificate and income certificate (if applicable) to claim the benefit of reservation and relaxation of marks in the entrance examination.

(c) The candidates are required to discuss their research interest / area through a presentation before a duly constituted RAC. The interview/viva-voce shall also consider the following aspects, viz. whether the candidate possesses the competence for the proposed research. the research work can be suitably undertaken at the research centre. the proposed area of research can contribute to new/additional knowledge.

(d) The evaluation in interview will be based on 100 marks to be allocated in the following criteria, each of 25 marks:

(i) Research plan

(ii) Research potential/ aptitude

(iii) Communication skills

(iv) Subject knowledge in the respective area of research. (e) The final merit list shall be prepared giving 70% and 30% weightage to marks obtained in entrance examination and interview, respectively and be notified onthe University website.

20. Allocation of Supervisor: The allocation of the supervisor for a selected applicant shall finally be decided by the RAC in a formal manner depending on the available seats with the supervisor, the available specialization among the supervisors and the research interest of the applicant as indicated during the interview. In case Supervisor is not working at the research centre, a Co-supervisor may be allotted from the research centre to guide and monitor the research scholar at the centre.

The decision of the Pandit S. N. Shukla University, Shahdol regarding any dispute related to DET-2022 will be final and binding

22. The university reserves the right to modify any information at any stage. 23. Any legal dispute regarding DET-2022 is subject to Shahdol jurisdiction.
