Recruitment Notification (Faculties)

Netaji Subhas Open University (NSOU) having its Head Quarters at DD-26, Salt Lake City, Sector-I, Kolkata-700064 and three Regional Centres at Kalyani, Jalpaiguri and Durgapur invites applications for the following teaching posts from Indian Nationals. Applications must reach the University within 14.11.2022 (Monday) during office hours (within 5.00 PM) on all working days.

Applications must be submitted in duplicate in prescribed proforma as given in University Website and submitted at the University Headquarters (in respective drop box) at DD – 26, 5th Floor, Salt Lake City, Sector – I, Kolkata – 700 064 or may be sent by post.

The envelope containing the application must indicate the name of the post applied for including its reservation status in bold.

Payment of Application Fees:

Application fee Rs.1,000/- (Rs.500/- for SC/ST/OBC/PH category) must be submitted through online dedicated payment gateway service. The link will be available on and from 19.10.2022 to 14.11.2022 (tentatively).

To pay the requisite fee please visit www.wbnsou.ac.in and click on “PAY ONLINE” under “Recruitment” menu. After payment take print out of “Payment Confirmation Receipt” and enclosed the same with application form.

Applications without application fee and other documents as prescribed are liable to be cancelledwithout intimation.

All relevant information required in accordance with the new UGC REGULATIONS ON MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR APPOINTMENT OF TEACHERS AND OTHER ACADEMIC STAFF IN UNIVERSITIES AND COLLEGES AND MEASURES FOR THE MAINTENANCE OF STANDARDS IN

HIGHER EDUCATION, 2018 vide No.F.1-2017(EC/PS) dated 18 July, 2018is to be furnished.

  • For Minimum Eligibility Criteria and other details relating to the posts mentioned against Sl. Nos. A – 1 to 18, B- 1 to 15 and C-1 to 4 the attached G.O. notification vide No.1081-Edn(U)/1U-91/10 dt.15.12.2021,issued by Dept. of Higher Education (University Branch), GoWB should be consulted and to be followed strictly at the time of filling up the application form.
  • For Teacher Training in Special Education (i.e. Special B.Ed. & Special M.Ed.) and for Teacher Training Programs (i.e. B.Ed. & M.Ed.) (mentioned against Sl. Nos. A-19, B-16 and C- 5 & 6) the minimum qualification should be as follows :
  • Minimum eligibility criteria for Assistant Professor of Special Education (i.e. Special B.Ed. & Special M.Ed.)

Essential:

i. Master’s Degree in any discipline with not less than 55% of marks. ii. M.Ed. Degree in specific disability area with not less than 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) as recognised by Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) or an equivalent degree from a foreign university recognized by the RCI.

Desirable:

  1. Ph.D./M.Phil. in Special Education/ Inclusive Education.
  2. Whole-time Experience for a period of at least 3 years as teacher or researcher in Educational Institutions in the areas of specific disability or at least 5 years of whole time teaching experience at Diploma level in Educational Institutions in the areas of specific disability.
  • Minimum eligibility criteria for Assistant Professor for Teacher Training Programs (i.e. B.Ed. & M.Ed.):

Essential:

  1. Perspectives in Education or Foundation Courses
  1. Master’s Degree in Science/Commerce/Arts with 55 % marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed)
  • M.Ed. with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed); and
  • NET/SLET/SET passed qualification and exemption thereof (as given in the Note ii) & any other stipulation as may be prescribed by UGC/any such affiliating body/State Government. [NET/SLET/SET passed qualification can be obtained either in Education or in the subject of

Master’s Degree]

OR

  1. M.A in Education with 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system followed)
  • B.Ed. with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed); and
  • NET/SLET/SET passed qualification in Education and exemption thereof (as given in the Note ii) & any other stipulation as may be prescribed by UGC/any such affiliating body/State Government.

II.       Curriculum and Pedagogic Course / Methodology Course

  1. Master’s Degree in same or relevant subject with 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed)
  • M.Ed. with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed); and
  • NET/SLET/SET passed qualification and exemption thereof (as given in the Note ii) & any other stipulation as may be prescribed by UGC/any such affiliating body/State Government.

[NET/SLET/SET passed qualification can be obtained either in Education or in the subject of Master’s Degree]

Desirable:

  1. Candidate having Special Education/Inclusive Education at PG Level or published research work (in disability area) in reputed research journal or publication of books.
  2. Ph.D. in Education.

IMPORTANT TO NOTE : REGARDING OTHER CRITERIA [such as age, etc. (for Teacher Training in Special Education (i.e. Special B.Ed. & Special M.Ed.) and for Teacher Training Programs (i.e. B.Ed. & M.Ed.)] the attached G.O. notification vide No.1081-Edn(U)/1U-91/10 dt.15.12.2021, issued by Dept. of Higher Education (University Branch), GoWB should be followed.

III.  Minimum eligibility criteria for Associate Professor /Professor of Special Education (i.e. Special B.Ed. & Special M.Ed.) (for the posts at Sl. No. B-16 and C-5 of the table reflected the vacancies)

Essential:

  1. Master’s Degree in any discipline with not less than 55% of marks.
  2. M.Ed. Degree in specific disability area with not less than 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) as recognised by Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) or an equivalent degree from a foreign university recognized by the RCI.

Desirable:

  1. Ph.D./M.Phil. in Special Education/ Inclusive Education.

GENERAL INFORMATION

  1. Application forms submitted by the applicants should be properly filled in all respects by the applicants concerned and all the entries therein must be substantiated by supporting documents without which such applications would be treated as cancelled. All relevant supporting documents with self-attestation are to be attached with the application form.
  2. It is to be noted that applications without application fee would be cancelled.
  3. Those who have applied earlier for any of the above post(s) [vide Memo No(s). Reg/0122, Dated 21.01.2019; Reg/0917, Dated 06.03.2019; Reg/1587(A), Dated 11.07.2019; Reg/Rect/117, Dated 07.02.2020 and Reg/Rect/003, Dated 11.01.2021] are exempted to deposit any further application fee. However, they have to submit photocopies of their previous application and previous Demand Draft/On-line Payment Receipt. Such applicants have to submit fresh applications with updated C.V.s in attached application proforma as given, along with updated API scores, if any.
  4. Employed applicants should apply through proper channel.
  5. The prescribed essential qualifications/experience indicated above is bare minimum and mere possession of the same will not entitle the candidates to be called for interview. It is also to be noted that NSOU reserves the right to raise the cut-off level of eligibility criteria than those indicated under the “Essential Qualifications” for the respective posts.
  6. Appointments will be made on probation for one year, which may be extended depending on the assessment of performance of the incumbent during the probation period and in such cases the decision of the University will be final.
  • All the posts advertised are sanctioned by the Govt. of West Bengal and the age of superannuation for all the incumbents appointed to these posts would be 65 years or as may be notified by the Govt. of West Bengal from time to time.
  • All the incumbents appointed to these posts are transferable from one campus/ Regional Centre etc. of NSOU to the other.
  • The age of an applicant should be less than the maximum as indicated in the text or/ 65 years (whichever is less) on the closing date of application, i.e. 14.11.2022 wherever applicable. The age relaxation at entry point is admissible for reserved & PH category as per Govt. rules.
  • A relaxation of 5% in marks (wherever necessary) may be provided for candidates (applicable for candidates domiciled in West Bengal) belonging to SC/ ST/ OBC/ Differently abled (physically as well as visually) categories.

  • University Authority will not be responsible for any postal delay in case of receipt of application by the University or receipt of Interview call letter by the applicant.
  • No TA/DA shall be paid to candidates for attending interview.
  • Only the selected candidate(s) in respect of the aforesaid posts (if any) will be intimated accordingly.
  • The University reserves the right not to fill up the post advertised or modify the vacancy position without assigning any reasons whatsoever.
  • In case of any dispute the decision of the university will be final.
  • Applicants for the post of Associate Professor and Professor while calculating their API are required to follow strictly the norms as laid down in G.O. notification vide No.1081- Edn(U)/1U-91/10 dt.15.12.2021, issued by Dept. of Higher Education (University Branch), GoWB.
  • The marks in each case mean the qualifying marks without any grace marks and/or rounding off procedure.
  • A relaxation of 5% marks may be provided for the minimum eligibility marks of 55% at the Master level to the Ph.D. degree holders who have obtained their Master degree prior to September 19, 1991.
  • Period of time taken by the candidates to acquire M.Phil. and/or Ph.D. degree shall not be considered as teaching/research experience to be claimed for appointment to the post of Associate Professor/Professor.
  • A cut-off score as may be obtained from the Academic Performance Indicator (API) based Performance Appraisal System (PBAS) may be stipulated while deciding on the selection criterion by the University.
  • For any litigation the judicature will be under the Hon’ble High Court at Kolkata.
