Essential qualifications : National Institute of Technology Warangal
Eligibility to apply for PDF
i. Be a PhD degree holder in the relevant/allied branch of Engineering/Science.
ii. All the degrees acquired by the candidate must be in first class, with at least one degree from CFTI/Centrally Funded Institutes.
iii. Apply within five years after completing his/her PhD.
iv. The candidates who have completed their PhD under the supervision/cosupervision of the faculty members from NIT Warangal can apply for the fellowship after 3 years of completion of their PhD degree.
v. The maximum age that will be allowed is 35. Relaxation in age will be as per Government of India norms for recruitment of faculty.
Criteria of selection : National Institute of Technology Warangal
i. A proposal must be submitted by the aspiring post-doctoral fellow with the consent of a faculty member of NIT Warangal as a mentor. The proposal submitted by the fellow must not be mere extension of the PhD work. The expertise brought in by the applicant will be an important criterion in the selection process.
ii. Candidate must have a minimum of three SCI/ESCI/SCIE indexed publications.
iii. Reservations as per Government of India norms will be followed.
Period of engagement
The duration of the fellowship will be for a period of 3 years. However, initially the offer will be made for two years and extendable for one more year based on performance evaluation. Review will be conducted every year. Review will be based on quantifiable outcomes based on the deliverables proposed in the initial proposal and publications. A central project monitoring committee (PMC) may evaluate the progress and recommend the extension.
Scholarship : National Institute of Technology Warangal
i. A fellowship of Rs. 60,000 per month plus HRA will be offered throughout the duration of the engagement.
ii. The fellowship offered is purely temporary in nature and the Institute will have the right to review the fellowship based on the performance/conduct of the fellow. Similarly, the post doctoral fellow must give one month’s notice if he/she wants to leave the fellowship.
iii. The postdoctoral fellows engaged by the Institute will not be eligible to receive any other fellowship from government/non-governmental sources during the period of engagement.
i. A contingency grant of Rs. 1, 00,000 per annum towards purchasing consumables, attending conferences (within India), meeting publication charges etc., will be made available to the fellow on the recommendation of the mentor. If the candidate leaves the Institute within one year of joining the fellowship, he/she must return the contingency grant availed by him/her.
ii. Medical facilities as applicable to an employee of the Institute will be extended to the post doctoral scholar.
iii. The candidates will also be provided with suitable Hostel/Campus accommodation as per NIT Warangal norms if requested and if available.
iv. The scholar will be allowed a maximum of 15 days casual leave on prorate basis.
v. Women post doctoral fellows are eligible for maternity leave subject to the following conditions:
They must have put at least six months service prior to proceeding on maternity leave.
The Institute PDF duration or service after re-joining from maternity leave should not be less than six months.
Maternity leave will be sanctioned on submitting the original Medical Certificate.
Fellowship for the maternity leave period will be given only on rejoining from Maternity leave.
Works to be assigned
i. A teaching load equivalent to 8 hours per week will be assigned to the fellow along with the other related academic activities.
ii. The post doctoral fellow is expected to assist the mentor in writing external project proposals. Apart from quality research work, post doctoral fellows will also be encouraged to write funding proposals along with the mentor.
iii. Post-doctoral fellows are eligible to act as Co-guide for B.Tech/M.Tech/M.Sc./M.Tech /MBA students.
Targets to be achieved during the period of engagement
i. Minimum of one SCI/ESCI publication per year with the post doctoral fellow as the first author must be accepted or published.
ii. The candidate will present a progress report to PMC every year describing the research work carried out and research results supported by reprints or proofs or manuscripts of the papers published or accepted for publication for this purpose.
iii. Further extension of PDF after two years will be based on quantifiable outcomes based on the deliverables proposed in the initial proposal and publications.
iv. The fellowship may be terminated by the Institute if the progress/conduct of the candidate is unsatisfactory by giving one month notice to the PDF.
v. Any rights related to the IP generated out of post-doctoral research are as per the Institute’s IPR policy published from time to time.

Copy of SSC/Class X certificate in support of Date of Birth.
Copy of Intermediate/(10+2)/Class XII certificate.
Copies of Provisional Certificate/Degree Certificates and Marks Memos of the qualifying Examinations (UG, PG and PhD).
Attested copy of the caste certificate (in case of SC/ST candidates).
For GEN-EWS candidates, EWS certificate issued on or after April 01, 2022 as per the format given in the Annexure-I only is acceptable.
For OBC-NCL candidates, OBC-NCL certificate issued on or after April 01, 2022 as per the format given in the Annexure-II only is acceptable along with undertaking.
No Objection Certificate from the employer, if employed (Annexure III).
Relieving certificate from the employer (at the time of admission).
Application Fee payment receipt with transaction number.
File-1: (Research Project Proposal and Teaching Plan)
(a) A research proposal/plan formulated in association with the prospective mentor at NITW.
(b) The courses you would like to teach at NIT Warangal if selected as a post-doctoral fellow.
File-2: List of publications with impact factor and whether the paper is SCI/ESCI indexed.
Any other documents (list of publications, if any).
