About The University
The Tamil Nadu Physical Education and Sports University was established by an Act of the Government of Tamil Nadu in 2004, is unique and the first of its kind in India as an University, exclusively for Physical Education and Sports. After obtaining the accent from his Excellency the president of India on 5th August 2005, the said act came into force with effect from 15th September 2005.
It is a rare coincidence that the University has started functioning from December 2005, declared by the United Nations as International year for Sport and Physical Education.
It is located in 125 acres of land in a rich greenish environment in the sub urban of Greater Chennai. Due to its better performance in the arena of the higher education in the country, it has been recognized by the UGC; subsequently it obtained 12/12b status.
At present the University has three Faculties, five Departments and twenty one affiliated Colleges/institutions which are imparting higher education and research in the fields of physical Education and Yoga. As a pioneer University in these specialized areas, it is a role model for other Physical Education Universities established in different parts of the country.
The academic and its research programs are well recognized throughout the world and the student’s community of the University placed in well placed in many reputed institutions. As being a leader in the field of Physical Education, it is collaborating with various national and International institutions so as to find a new design and execution in the physical education environment along with implementation of the latest technology and modern practices in the field.
The University is striving to improve the higher education and research in these areas so as to meet the challenges in the context of Paradigm shift. Further the University now offers select Physical Education and Allied Courses, through collaborative programmers and Distance Education stream also.
Profile of the TNEPSU University Library
The University administration having known the importance of the University Library, the institution established it’s university library in the year 2007, during the inception of the library, it was functioning in a wing of the main building and up to 2017 the Library was functioning in the temporary spaces provided provided both in the administrative and academic blocks of the University. During the year 2018 the University Library housed in a two storied new Library Building with a total carpet area of 6772 Sq. Ft (629.11sq.mts.) which located at the western side of the University campus.
This University Library is one of the best libraries for physical education and research in the country. It has wonderful collections of both print and digital resources in the field of physical Education and Yoga. As a supplemental to the academic and research pursuits of the university, it subscribe to core online journals on these subjects. By obtaining Rs. 2.50 crore project TANII Scheme of the Tamil Nadu Government State Planning Scheme for the year 2016 2017, many innovative applications and infrastructure developments are completed in the Library. The Infrastructure developments such as establishment of E-Library center with advanced Network design along Wi-Fi connectivity. The Library established E-Library with the financial aids provided by TANIII scheme along with hosting of separate web portal for the library. The surveillance camera and RFID technology are the latest developments of the Library.
As one of the end user, the library is the gateway to provide E-resources to the academia of the University along with providing Original Plagiarism software to standardize the research output of the University and it is one of the member of the Inflibnet- Sodhganga ETDs reservoir. So as to maximize the usage of its resources, it’s often runs Innovative user awareness programs and book exhibitions. These activities of the library results into the increase the library visitors and extensive use of its resources. Information literacy programs are also often run by the Librarian by tutorials and short term training programs. The Library is also often running programs on research and publication ethics.
For maximizing the open access resources on physical education, the library web portal provides links. It also provides Institutional repository on ETDS, E-books and model question papers for both regular and distance mode academic programs run by the university. The Web OPAC is also an effective tool for search and access of article index, books, projects and theses of the library. As a part of its extensive services, online consultation services as well as online Inter Library loan services are operated by the library effectively. In order to maximize the use of its e-resources, the library provides the INFED- Remote access to the academia of the University. The Library provides conducive Physical environment and extensive resources to enable learning and advancement of knowledge and whereby discovering new insights in all the academic programs offered in this University. The user friendly atmosphere of the library is also well accepted and appreciated not only by the academia of the University as well as other similar institutions researchers who are visiting the library for their research needs.
The Library has Following Sections
Acquisition, Circulation, Technical Processing, Reading Hall, e-Library center, Current Periodical display and reading room , Stack and Theses sections. It has subscribed E-Resources Viz., Databases, E-Journals & E-Books pertaining to this University Research Departments. The University Central Library occupies an indispensable Place in the Tamil Nadu Physical Education and Sports University, which enhances Teaching and Learning, Enhancing knowledge, Research & Development activities. It is a most lively placed department in the University which is centrally located in the campus for the easy access of the students situated around the library.
Madras Library Association (MALA) was founded on 31st January 1928 by Dr. S.R. Ranganathan who is the father of Library and Information Science and the first University Librarian of the country as well the Madras University Library and Mr. K.V.Krishnanswamy Aiyar.
As a Nobel profession of Librarianship and Icon of the Public Library movements in the country, he founded this association with the n objectives of promotion of the library movement and creation of general awareness, especially among the rural public to focus the benefits of using books and libraries. To achieve these, lectures, film shows, exhibitions, and other activities were organized in various parts of the Tamil. The MALA’s aims and activities were well received and appreciated both by the public and the government, and by the end of the first year its membership had reached 5000, comprising mainly of the elites of Madras.
During the early years the MALA launched many innovative programmes such as a mobile library service for the rural areas of Mannargudi and Cuddalore; hospital library service; publication of a collection of essays in English and South Indian languages on the “Library Movement” by several distinguished authors; compilation of bibliographical lists; promotion of school libraries and organizing essay competitions among school children.
At present this Association is the fore runner and torch bearer of the Profession, it fights for the betterment of the Library professionals. For these reasons, it is organizing various programs on imparting latest technology applications towards the professionals. And as eye opener it also running various innovative programs to help the students and researcher to get fullest vision in the area they have selected. The functionalities and services of the Association are well accepted by the Professionals and appreciated by various higher education agencies and government organization. This is conference is going to be one of the feather on the cap of the Association.
Objectives of the Conference
The main objective of the event is that the Librarianship as a domain, it has evolved and changed its functionalities and modalities, in the context of ever changing ICT and Digital Technology along with the ever growing and ever changing needs of the Library user ; this would be evaluated and discussed in the conference with the research contributions made by the participants as one hand and in other hand the challenges faced by the professionals in the context of Paradigm shift .

Call for Papers
? We are inviting the contributors to submit their original research manuscripts which will be included in conference proceedings (with ISBN) on the theme and sub themes of the conference which is scheduled to be released in National Conference on “Current Trends and Challenges in 21st Librarianship (CTCLIS21).
? The off-line conference is scheduled to be held on 30th September & 1st October 2022 (Friday and Saturday).
? The full articles are to be submitted to the Conference editors using the Google registration form. Full paper alone will be accepted for the conference.
? The University Library, Tamil Nadu Physical Education and Sports University, Melakottaiyur, Chennai is inviting Librarians, Teaching Faculties, researchers, graduate students, experts and other academic communities may submit proposals full papers – for the National Conference on Current Trends and Challenges in 21st Academic Librarianship on or before 15th September 2022. And no papers will be accepted beyond this date.

Guidelines for Paper Submission
? Papers for inclusion in proceedings must be between 3,500 and 4,000 words, submitted with 300-350 word abstracts and Keywords. Graphic materials: photo images, diagrams, figures, maps and others shall be included as attachment in a jpeg format and indicate by use of numbers preferred placement areas in the manuscript. All full papers, inquiries should be sent by email to: [email protected] Please indicate “National Conference on Current Trends and Challenges in 21st Librarianship” in the subject line.
? Full Paper Submission Deadline: 15th September 2022.
? Selected papers for publication will be notified on or before 16th September 2022 in the website.: www.library.tnpesu.org
? All submissions to the National Conference on Current Trends and Challenges in 21st Librarianship must be typed in double-spaced in MS Word using Times New Roman, 12 pt.
? Please use the APA 6th edition in text citations and references Style for paper.
? Please identify a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 7 Keywords reflecting the content of your research paper. The research paper alone will be accepted.
? The authors of the accepted papers should submit the copy right agreement and authorship responsibility form.
All full papers will be carefully reviewed by a Peer Review Team and implemented in plagiarism check. If the paper exceeds 20 percent similarities it would summarily be rejected. Each author shall be notified by email about the outcome of the review process.

?Registration fee once paid will not be refunded at any cost.
?Registration fee includes tea/snacks, lunch, e-proceedings CD, and conference kit and participation certificate.
?Only one person will be allowed for one registration.
?Certificates will be only issued for registered participants.
Dormitory type accommodation will be provided with dormitory types or rooms of the guest house of the University which located in the backyard of the Library. Required participants shall book their accommodation by payment which shall be made in person to the accommodation in-charge. The Required participants should book in advance through the e-mail :[email protected] for accommodation by mentioning their requirements in the subject of the e-mail as accommodation. Per day Rs.250/- will be charged for each participants which includes breakfast.
There is no need to explain the historical perspectives and legacy of Chennai city, since these are all well known and available in voluminous in the internet environments and social networking cites. However, If there is any need for site visit, an arrangement will be made with the contributions of the needed after the conference.
