LIC Bima Sakhi Yojana
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday launched the LIC Bima Sakhi Yojana from Panipat, Haryana. The scheme aims to empower women by offering job opportunities and providing them with the necessary skills to thrive in the insurance sector. Empowering Women through LIC Bima Sakhi Yojana
The LIC Bima Sakhi Yojana is a new scheme introduced by the state-owned Life Insurance Corporation (LIC). It targets women aged between 18 and 70 who have completed at least their Class X education. The scheme aims to provide these women with the necessary training to become agents for LIC. The trained women will then help spread awareness about financial literacy and insurance policies among other women in their communities.
PM Modi emphasized that for women to be empowered, they must be given ample opportunities to succeed. He said that when women are given such opportunities, they not only rise themselves but also help open new doors for the nation. What Does the LIC Bima Sakhi Yojana Offer?
Under the LIC Bima Sakhi Yojana, women agents will receive specialized training in the insurance sector. In the first three years, women will receive a stipend to support them while they complete their training. For the first year, they will receive Rs 7,000 per month, followed by Rs 6,000 in the second year, and Rs 5,000 in the third year. After the training period, these women will be able to serve as LIC agents.
In addition to the stipend, the women agents will also earn a commission based on the business they generate. The scheme aims to appoint 2 lakh women as Bima Sakhis over the next three years. After completing their training, these women will have the opportunity to take up permanent positions within LIC. Some of them may even qualify for higher roles, such as Development Officers, based on their performance.

Currently, about 1.15 crore women have been identified as Lakhpati Didis. PM Modi announced that his government is setting a target to make 3 crore women Lakhpati Didis in the coming years. Foundation Stone of Maharana Pratap Horticultural University
During the same event, PM Modi also laid the foundation stone for the Maharana Pratap Horticultural University in Karnal, Haryana. The new campus will cover 495 acres and will cost over Rs 700 crore to develop. This university is expected to play a significant role in advancing horticultural education and research in India.
The university will feature a College of Horticulture offering both undergraduate and postgraduate programs. In addition, the university will have five specialized schools covering ten different horticultural disciplines. This initiative aims to enhance India’s horticultural research and education, which will contribute to the development of the agricultural sector.
Promoting Skill Development and Education
By launching these initiatives, PM Modi reiterated the government’s focus on improving education and skill development across India. General Instruction To Candidates
LIC’s Bima Sakhi (MCA Scheme) is a Stipendiary Scheme, exclusively for Women , with a stipendiary period of 3 years.
The appointment of a person under the MCA scheme will not be treated as a salaried appointment as an employee of the Corporation.
Minimum completed age should be 18 years as on date of application. Maximum age at entry will be 70 years ( last birthday)
Minimum qualification – pass in 10th standard.
Performance Norms to be fulfilled during each Stipendiary Year by MCA :

Relatives of existing Agent or Employee shall not be eligible to be recruited as MCAs. Relatives shall include the following family members – Spouse, Children including adopted and step children (whether dependent or not), Parents, Brothers, Sisters and immediate In-laws.
A Retired employee of the Corporation or an Ex-agent seeking reappointment shall not be granted agency under MCA scheme.
Existing agent can not apply for recruitment as MCA.
The latest passport size photograph should be uploaded alongwith the Application form.

The application is liable to be rejected if the information furnished is incomplete.
