Eligibility(AorB):

A.

A Master’s degree with 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point-scalewherever the grading system is followed) in a concerned/relevant /allied subject fromanIndianUniversity,oranequivalentdegreefromanaccreditedforeignUniversity.
Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidate must have cleared theNational Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC or the CSIR (exemption fromNET shall be granted in accordance with clause (ii) & (iii) of General Note in the lastsectionofthisdocument).

ThePh.D.degreehasbeenobtainedfromaforeignUniversity/Institutionwitharankingamong top 500 in the world University ranking (at any time) by any one of thefollowing:(i)QuacquarelliSymonds(QS)(ii)TheTimesHigherEducation(THE)or

  • Explanatory Note: In pursuance of the clause 1.1.(i) of the UGC Regulations2018,existingqualificationsforAssistantProfessor,AssociateProfessor,ProfessorandPrincipalhavebeenretainedwithrespecttodepartmentsoftheUniversity/colleges where courses related to Teacher Education are offered, forwhichNCTEguidelineswillapply.(ReferenceECResolutionNo.16dated28.05.2015).

GENERALNOTE:

The direct recruitment to the posts of Assistant Professors in the Colleges shallbeonthebasisofmeritthroughallIndiaadvertisementandselectionbythedulyconstituted Selection Committees.

TheNationalEligibilityTest(NET)shallbetheminimumeligibilityforappointmentofAssistantProfessor.
ProvidedthatcandidateswhohavebeenawardedaPh.D.DegreeinaccordancewiththeUniversityGrantsCommission(MinimumStandardsandProcedureforAward of M.Phil./Ph.D. Degree) Regulation, 2009, or the University GrantsCommission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil/Ph.D.Degree) Regulation, 2016, and their subsequent amendments from time to time,as the case may be, shall be exempted from the requirement of the minimumeligibilityconditionofNETforrecruitmentandappointmentofAssistantProfessorinthe College.
Providedfurther thatthe award of degree to candidates registered for theM.Phil/Ph.D. programme prior to July 11,2009, shall be governed by theprovisions of the then existing Ordinances / Bye-laws / Regulations of theInstitutions awarding the degree. All such Ph.D. candidates shall be exemptedfrom the requirement of NET for recruitment and appointment of AssistantProfessorsintheCollegessubjecttothefulfillmentof thefollowingconditions:

The fulfillment of these conditions is to be certified by the by the Registrar ortheDean(AcademicAffairs)oftheUniversityconcerned.

TheclearingofNETshallnotberequiredforcandidatesinsuchdisciplinesforwhichNEThasnotbeenconducted.

Aminimumof55%marks(oranequivalentgradeinapoint-scale,whereverthegradingsystemisfollowed)atthemaster’slevelshallbetheessentialqualificationfordirectrecruitmentofteachersandotherequivalentcadresatanylevel.

A relaxation of 5% shall be allowed at the Bachelor’s as well as at the Master‘slevel for the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe/OtherBackward Classes (OBC) (non-creamy layer)/Differently Abled [Persons withBenchmark Disability PwBD)] in the category of (a) Visual Impairment (VI)includingblindnessandlowvision,and(b)LocomotorDisability(LD)including

leprosy cured,dwarfism,acidattackvictimsandmusculardystrophy.Theeligibility of 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever thegradingsystemisfollowed),whereverspecified,andtherelaxationof5%tothecategoriesmentionedabovearepermissible,basedonlyonthequalifyingmarkswithoutincludinganygracemarkprocedure.

A relaxation of 5% may be provided (from 55% to 50% of the marks) to thePh.D. Degree holders, who have obtained their Master’s Degree prior to 19September,1991.

A relevant grade which is regarded as equivalent of 55%, wherever the gradingsystemisfollowedbyarecognizeduniversity,atthemaster’slevelshallalsobeconsideredeligible.

The time taken by candidates to acquire M.Phil. and/or Ph.D. Degree shall notbe considered as teaching/research experience to be claimed for appointment tothe teaching positions. Further the period of active service spent on pursuingresearch degree simultaneously with teaching assignment without taking anykind of leave, shall be counted as teaching experience for the purpose of directrecruitment/ promotion.

ThenumberofcandidatestobecalledforinterviewfortheteachingpostsintheColleges, shall be determined after screening of applications in accordance withtheguidelineslaiddownintheScreeningguidelinesannexedwiththisadvertisement.

(a) No person shall be appointed tothe post of Assistant Professor in theColleges, if such person does not fulfill the requirements as to the qualificationsfor the appropriate post laid out herein and in the Ordinance XXIV of theOrdinances oftheUniversity.

(b) Those entering the service as Assistant Professor having a post-doctoralteaching/researchexperience,afterobtainingaPh.D.degreeandprovencredentials,maybeeligiblefordiscretionaryawardofadvanceincrementstobegiven to the person, as decided and recorded by the Selection Committee in theminutesofitsmeeting.

Discretionary award of advance increments is not applicable to those enteringthe profession as Assistant Professor who are entitled for grant of advanceincrementsforhaving acquiredaPh.D.,M.Phil.orM.Tech.andLLMdegree.

GeneralInstructionsforApplicants (AdvertisementforCollegeFacultyPositions)

Applicants should possess the prescribed qualifications and experience as on the closingdate of application, as prescribed by the University for the Colleges from time to time fortherespectivepost.ThepostadvertisedcarryUGCpayscalesplusadmissibleallowances.Thepostsarebeingadvertisedkeepinginviewthebroadareasofspecializationinsubjects.However, theDepartment concerned mayhavespecificrequirement ofspecialization.

Applicants applying for the post(s) reserved for OBC must upload certificate of OBC(non-creamylayer)intheprescribedformissuedbyCompetentAuthority.Thecertificateshould be of the current financial year, in accordance with instructions issued by theUnion Government in this respect from time to time. With a need to enable the duly constituted Selection Committee to have a comprehensiveassessment of the required number of candidates, who would appear before them, in atimebound manner, applications received for the faculty position shall be screened on thebasis of the academic and other related credentials of the candidates through the criteriadetailed in this document.

Shortlistingofcandidates:CriteriaandProcess

The Screening Committee will draw a list of all the candidates indicating themarks scored by them in descending order i.e. starting from the candidategettingthe highest marks towards the candidates getting the lower marks. Theapplicant securing less than 65 marks for University Departments will not beincludedin thelistof shortlisted candidates.

Arelaxationof05marksbegiventocandidatesbelongingtoSC/ST/PwD.

In case of tie in the marks of two or more candidates, the candidate having thehigher/highestmarksattheMaster’slevel shallbe ranked abovetheother(s).

For appointment in the University Departments: A minimum of 30 candidates for thefirstvacancy and 10 candidates for every additional vacancy shall be called for interview in orderof their ranks in the list prepared by the Screening Committee on the basis of marks scored bythecandidatesforeach category.

Themarksawardedtothecandidatesduringtheprocessofscreeningofapplicationsshallnothaveanyweightage/creditormeritduringassessment/interview of the candidates by the Selection Committee as thesemarksshallbeusedonly forscreening/shortlisting purposes.

The time taken by candidates to acquire M.Phil. / M.Tech. / LLM / M.Ed. orequivalentand/orPh.D.Degreeshallnotbeconsidered asteaching/researchexperience tobe claimed for appointment to the teaching positions.Furthertheperiodofactiveservicespentonpursuingresearchdegreesimultaneouslywithteachingassignmentwithouttakinganykindofleave,shallbecountedasteachingexperienceforthepurposeofdirectrecruitment/promotion.

Incaseofanydisputewithregardtoscreeningoftheapplications,thedecisionoftheCompetent Authorityshall befinal.

The status of short-listing will be made available on the dashboards of therespectiveapplicantsforinformation.

Important Note

Theentireonusofthecontent/authenticityoftheinformationbeinguploadedinthe form of application and its attachments shall exclusively rest with theapplicant in terms of eligibility for recruitment and for subsequent selectionthroughdueprocess.

TheUniversityshall,innoway,beresponsibleforanyerror/omission/commission/suppressionofrelevantinformationbytheapplicantknowingly/unknowingly/overtly/covertlywhilefillinguptheapplicationform anduploadingthe documentsrequired therein.
