Applications are invited from Indian nationals for admission to the Ph.D. programme in the Departments of Comparative Literature, English, Film Studies, History, Library & Information Science, Philosophy and Physical Education. Eligibility criteria: As per JU. Ph. D. Regulation, 2024.

Process of Application: Jadavpur University PhD Admission 2024-25
Candidates should apply in the prescribed format available on the website. https://jadavpuruniversity.in/
The application fees to be Rs. 500/- (Per Subject) online through SBI Collect System using Credit Card/Debit Card/Net Banking.
After completion of payment the downloaded form along with an online payment(*) receipt and all testimonials as mentioned below is to be submitted to the office of Ph.D. Cell, Arts, Subarna Jayanti Bhavan, ground floor, Jadavpur University Main campus, Kolkata 700032. (*)Without payment receipt no application be accepted.
The last date for online payment is 12.12.2024.
The last date for submission of application form is 13.12.2024 upto 04:00 p.m.
(Time: 11:00 am– 02:00 pm & 03:00 pm– 04:00 pm except Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays)
University is not liable for any postal delay. No application form will be accepted after due date.
Incomplete and/or incorrect application in any manner will be rejected.
The following documents should be attached with the application form:
a) One recent passport size photograph.
b) Attested copies of all mark-sheets and certificates, Madhyamik admit card / certificate for verification of age, SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B /PD/EWS certificate, where applicable.
NET/SET/GATE certificate, if any.
c) Online payment receipt downloaded from SBI server after online payment.
d) Copy of Aadhar Card.
The candidates who have qualified NET/SET/GATE shall be titled to get exemption from written admission test and shall be called directly for an interview if s/he satisfies the following conditions:

(c) Allied Subjects specified by the Department of Physical Education: Physiology , Sports Physiology, Psychology, Sports Psychology, Sports Sociology, Sociology, Sports Medicine ,Sports Science ,Sports Management ,Sports Journalism, Biomechanics, Kin anthropometry, Sports Engineering , Sports Technology, Engineering, Yogic Science, Physiotherapy, Philosophy, Statistics.

FOR SC/ST CATEGORY
As per circular Nos. BC-16014/1/82-SC dt.06/08/1984 & BCD-1,D.O.12017/11/89-SCD(R.CELL) dt.09/01/1990 and letter No.1510-SCWdt.31/05/2007 of the Government of West Bengal, the Scheduled Castes/ the Scheduled Tribes of the states other than West Bengal are not entitled to get the benefit of reserved quota in educational institutions in West Bengal unless they can produce Domicile Certificate as a proof for residing in West Bengal for at least 10 years issued by the competent authority.
FOR OBC-A/OBC-B CATEGORY
The Candidates who will be provisionally selected under the OBC-A / OBC-B category must produce an OBC certificate (the issues date of the certificate should not be earli-er than November, 2023) issued by the competent authority that clearly indicates
(i) the category (A or B) he/she belongs to:
(ii) that he/she does not belong to creamy layer of the
society, at the time of document verification.
As per the rules of Government of West Bengal, the OBC-A and OBC-B candidates of the states other than West Bengal are not entitled to get the benefit of reserved quota in educational institutions in West Bengal unless they can produce Domicile Certificate as a proof for residing in West Bengal for atleast 10 years issued by the competent authority.
If selected, candidates under OBC A/B categories must submit a Non-Creamy Layer (NCL) certificate not be issued earlier than November 2023 and also an undertaking on a Rs.10/-non-judicial Stamp paper, stating that their admission will be revoked if their OBC certificate becomes invalid in future. FOR PD CATEGORY: Jadavpur University PhD Admission 2024-25
Persons with 40% or more disability will only be considered for admission under PD quota under RPD Act, 2016.
FOR EWS CATEGORY
Reservation under Economically Weaker Sections (EWSs) will be as per notification no. 339-Edu (CS)/OM-74L/2023 dated 26th May, 2023 from Government of West Bengal.
The EWS certificate of 2024-2025 financial years is only valid for admission in this academic session.
OTHER INFORMATION:- Jadavpur University PhD Admission 2024-25
Course Work including Research Methodology and Research Publication Ethics (RPE) course is mandatory for all the Ph.D. scholars who will be selected for Ph.D. programme, session 2024-2025 under Faculty of Arts.
An applicant found to be admitted elsewhere or within this University for another Ph.D. programme and any other programme during the time of admission, will not be considered for admission.
The date of WRET examination and PRC meeting for interview will be notified in due course through the university website.
