Central University of South Bihar NOTIFICATION FOR ADMISSION TO Ph.D PROGRAMMES ACADEMIC YEAR 2022-23

Online applications are invited for direct admission to the Ph.D (Full-Time/Part-Time) programme (as per Annexure-I) for the Academic year 2022-23 through the link www.cusbadmission.samarth.edu.in

02. How to Apply:

i. Applications may be www.cusbadmission.samarth.edu.in filled and submitted ONLINE through the link

ii. Candidates are required to upload recent passport size photograph, scanned signature and scanned copies of the supporting documents.

iii. Soon after submission of online application should be retained to be brought along at the time of interview.

Application fee once paid shall not be refunded in any case. Candidates shall be required to make the payment of fee through online mode while filling up application.

04. Eligibility Criteria – As per Annexure-II

05. Mode of Direct Admission

A candidate who fulfills one of the following requirements may be considered for direct admission to the Ph.D. programme:

1.1.1.A candidate who is qualified in a national level test such as National Eligibility Test (NET-JRF), NET-LS (without fellowship), Graduate Aptitude Test for Engineering (GATE) in respective discipline.
1.1.2.A candidate who is qualified in a State Level Eligibility Test (SLET) in respective discipline.
1.1.3.A candidate who have cleared qualified in any entrance test (in respective discipline) conducted by government run institution/university having NIRF ranking within top 10.
1.1.4.A candidate who is a recipient of National Doctoral Fellowship or other fellowships from government/semi-government organizations (through All-India selection procedure conducted by the agencies/organizations for award of research fellowships) such as Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission (UGC), All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Department of Science and Technology (DST), Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO), Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), Indian Council for Social Science Research (ICSSR), Inspire Students, Indian Council for Historical Research (ICHR) and similar National Level Organizations.
1.1.5.A candidate who is selected under Quality Improvement Program (QIP) of AICTE or Faculty Development Programme of Central Government/ UGC.
1.1.6.Any teacher/researcher working as a full-time regular teacher/researcher in other Central Universities or Central Institutions, who is sponsored as a part-time (external) candidate by the said organization.
1.1.7.A foreign national who is recommended by Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) or any other department of Government of India and who is sponsored by his/her government.
1.1.8.A self-financing foreign national who is admitted through the Embassy/ High commission of his/her country or admitted under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with due clearance from the Indian Missions abroad. As per revised guidelines/ instructions of the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Gol on grant of research visa, the foreigners who desire to undertake research in India, should therefore, apply to the concerned Indian Missions abroad with the brief tentative synopsis of the research project to be undertaken /interested in India, the details of places to be visited, previous visits, whether the scholar has secured admission into a recognized or reputed institution and evidence of financial resources.
1.1.9.International students who has completed or enrolled in any maters programme in India may take up and clear National Level Combined Entrance Test for Ph.D. admission provided she/he has a valid visa of study and permission from the embassy/competent authority.
a)Note: The equivalence of the degree possessed by the foreign candidates belonging to the Clauses 7.2.8 and 7.2.9 shall be settled by the Equivalence Committee of CUSB before their admission. They shall be admitted to the Ph.D. programme only if the degree possessed by them entitles them for enrolment as Ph.D. scholars in the universities of their own countries. English Proficiency certificate of TOEFL (minimum 50 marks) or IELTS (minimum 5 bands) or 150-154 in GRE or 600 in GMAT are mandatory for foreign candidates at the time of submission of application form for the admission in the University.
b)The supernumerary quota for self-financing foreign nationals shall be restricted to a maximum of 10% of the total available seats in a Department/School. In a Department of one professor, two associate and five / four assistant professors will share 04 supernumerary quotas as 1, 1 and 2, respectively.
c)However, all such candidates will have to qualify in the interview.
1.1.10.A candidate who is already registered as a Ph.D. scholar in some other university and whose supervisor joins this University. In this case, the candidate has to fulfill the terms & conditions laid down in CUSB Ph.D. Ordinances. If they wish to take registration, they may be allowed to take admission at any stage of his/her Ph.D. before completion the Ph.D. program at any time. However, they have to pay the full semester registration fee at the CUSB, Gaya. Their all benefits shall be transferred from their earlier university / institution or vice-versa.
1.1.11.A candidate, working in an externally funded research project in the University as a research personnel, may be allowed to register for Ph.D. in the University provided she/he meets the eligibility criterion and publishes at least one research paper in UGC CARE listed journal after joining the project out of the research work generated in the project and this research paper shall be the part of his/her Ph.D. thesis (Note: Academic Section/DRDC must ensure this at the time of thesis submission) and the tenure left for completion of project is minimum of one year or (s)he is short-listed in Entrance Test (NLCET) conducted by the University. Provided further that in such cases, the PI of the sponsored project shall be the supervisor or co-supervisor of that candidate.
1.1.12.A teacher of the CUSB holding full-time regular position provided she/he meets the eligibility criterion and has completed the probation period in the University and recommended by the concerned DRDC.
1.1.13.A non-teaching employee of the CUSB holding full-time regular position provided she/he meets the eligibility criterion mentioned in the Clause 7.1 & 7.2 and has completed the probation period in the University and recommended by the Registrar of the university and accepted the concerned DRDC / CRDC. The maximum number of enrolled non-teaching employee should not exceed 10% of the total strength.

07. Selection Procedure

⚫ For selection of candidate a weightage of 70% to the score of NET (LS or JRF)/ GATE qualifying exam etc. (on 100 point scale) and 30% to the performance in the interview shall be given. Interview of 100 marks shall be conducted of eligible candidates who have applied for through Samarth portal.

⚫ The candidate must secure a minimum of 60% marks (55% marks for SC/ST/OBC/PWD/EWS) in interview to be eligible for Ph.D. admission in the discipline. However, meeting the said minimum requirement will not guarantee registration for Ph.D. as it is dependent upon performance in the interview and availability of vacant seats.

09. Mode of Interview

i. Interview/viva-voce shall be conducted only of those candidates who have completed the online application process.

ii. All interviews will be held only in person and there is no provision of skype interview or any other online mode.

iii. Venue of Interview in Offline mode

iv. The final information regarding the date of interview will be notified on University’s website. Candidates are advised to keep visiting the University website regularly

11. Declaration of result

The list of provisionally selected candidates in order of merit shall be displayed on the University’s website.

12. General Instructions

i. The candidate should ensure that he/she fulfills the eligibility criteria and other norms mentioned in this notification.

ii. The candidates must have an active E-mail Id & Mobile number. All future communications with the candidates will take place only through the given email.

Candidates working in PSU/ Govt. Sector shall be required to forward their application through proper channel or submit NOC (No Objection Certificate) from their present employer at the time of interview (if, shortlisted or selected for admission).
