“Online Session for merit-based selection/allotment of candidates for subjects offered through multiple centre of learning”
Subjects/Program: Bengali, English, History, Sanskrit, Political Science, Education, Philosophy, Santali, Sociology, Hindusthani Classical Vocal Music, Rabindra Sangeet, M.Ed., M.P.Ed., LL.M., Mass Communication, MSW, Library and Information Science, Women’s Studies and Commerce
All the eligible candidates as per the Sl. Nos. mentioned below of the aforementioned Subjects/Programs who have applied for admission (with successful submission status) to the various PG Courses offered by multiple centres of learning (i.e., Golapbag campus and affiliated colleges where PG courses are conducted) under the Faculty Council (Arts) of BU for the session 2024-2026, are asked to attend the session COMPULSORILY for merit-based selection as per the following schedule:

The candidates should take note of the following instructions:
The online session through Google meet is being conducted only for merit-based selection/allotment of candidates based on eligibility and merit criteria.
All eligible candidates as per the ranks mentioned in this notification, who have successfully submitted application forms online and who intend to study in the subjects offered through single or multiple centres of learning to be allotted based on merit, should compulsorily attend online session through Google meet.
Candidates should enter their respective Google Meet room at the scheduled time and wait for the administrator to admit them.
Candidates who do not login and attend the session at the stipulated date and time will be marked as ABSENT.
Candidates must join the session by using the subject-wise and schedule-wise specific google meet link provided in this notification.
Candidates must ensure that they are having good Internet connectivity during the session.
Candidates shall keep their academic testimonials (including all mark sheets and certificates) and SC/ST/EWS certificates (for the concerned candidates) in original with them. They will be required to produce the documents during the online session.
All the candidates who have been asked to appear inthe online session must ensure that their cell phones corresponding to the number mentioned during form filling-up are not switched off.
They should be ready to accept the phone calls to be given by the office, if needed.
In case a candidate is unable to attend the Online Counselling, he/she should send his/her authorised representative for the session. If any candidate or his/her authorized representative fails to turn up on the date and time of online counselling, he/she will not be considered for admission in the later stage.
The mere fact that a candidate has been asked to appear in the session doesn’t assure selection unless seats are available. Hence, all candidates are asked to check the subject-wise vacancy position before attending the session.
The Broad Rank List has been prepared based on system generated data without actual document verification. Candidates are therefore requested to verify their eligibility in accordance with the criteria as prescribed in the Information Brochure of the PG Admission 2024, available in the University Website.
In case a candidate does not fulfil the eligibility and merit criteria,he/she is requested not to proceed with the subsequent steps since it is likely that the admission will not be confirmed.
Once the Merit-based selection is completed, the candidates who will be provisionally selected for admission to PG Course of Studies in the above mentioned Subjects/ Programs for the session 2024-2026, Payment Link of their requisite admission fees through online will be provided via Student Dashboard on and from 26.11.2024 to 30.11.2024.
In case of any issue/problem regarding payment, candidates should contact immediately and definitely before the expiry of payment period (email: [email protected]). No communication in this regard will be entertained after the expiry of payment period. University will not take the responsibility of any payment failure caused due to network problems.
Provisionally Selected candidates from Online Merit-based selection(Phase-2) can get access for payment by logging in into the dashboard of the admission portal of The University of Burdwan by putting their Registered Email Id and password through the following link during 26.11.2024 to 30.11.2024:
Access for Student Dashboard
Students should ensure collection of E-receipt of successful payment generated in the online system of candidates with “Successful” payment status. Mere receipt of SMS from own bank is not sufficient to ensure successful payment.
The University will not take the responsibility of any payment failure caused due to network problems. So, candidates are advised to check their “Successful” Payment status.
Candidates will been listed based on the merit-based selection on the basis of the vacancy position.
Classes for the aforementioned subjects have already been commenced from 03.10.2024. Selected Candidates of Phase-2 are directed to join the classes to their respective centre of studies after completion of successful payment.
ADMISSION OF CANDIDATES WILL BE CONFIRMED ONLY AFTER DOCUMENT VERIFICATION, which will be carried out by the concerned Department/Centre of Studies on and from 02.12.2024 to 04.12.2024 for the confirmation of admission. All the selected candidates who have successfully paid the admission fees will have to produce and submit self-attested photocopies of Application Form along with all testimonials including the relevant certificates and final honours mark sheet and hard copy of the Anti- Ragging undertaking on the date of document verification, failing which their admission to Post Graduate courses will be cancelled. All eligibility criteria will be checked during document verification. If, at the time of document verification, the marks obtained by the candidate doesn’t match with the marks shown in the merit list, the admission of the candidate is liable to be cancelled. In case a candidate is unable to attend in the Document Verification, he/she should send his/her authorised representative for the same. If any candidate or his/her authorized representative fails to turn up on the date of Document Verification, the admission to the said course will be cancelled.
ALL ADMISSIONS ARE PROVISIONAL. Mere selection of candidates and payment of admission fees do not ensure confirmation of admission unless the eligibility of the candidates is checked and original credentials are found in order at the time of verification of documents. If a candidate is found, before or after admission, not having the minimum eligibility of admission, then the university will have the right to cancel his/her admission without taking responsibility of refund of his/her admission fees. The University also reservesallrights to droporto includeany name,ifany suppressionoffactsonthepartofthe students,any mistakeon thepartoftheUniversity oranyerror in the system-generated data is detected at any stage before or after the admission.
CandidateswhohavepaidadmissionfeesshouldcontacttheHoDs/TICsoftherespectivedepartments/CentreofStudiesthroughemailimmediatelyafterpaymentwitha
copyofthe“Successful”paymentreceiptasanattachment(EmailIdsgivenseparatelyatour website www.buruniv.ac.in).
If there is no candidatein the UR-DA, SP Category,thenthe seatwill betransferred tothe URCategory.Under similarcircumstances, seats ofDA-SC,DA-ST will betransferred to SC andSTCategoryrespectively.As perthe reservationrules videGovt. Order No.:07-Edn(U)/1U-89/13.- dated.2nd January,2014 “foradmissionto differentcourses,an SC or ST candidate getting admission should have obtained in the previous examination; qualifying marks not lower by more than 25% of the marks obtained by the last candidate of the general category.”
GuidelinesofInter-Transferability/ConversionofReservedSeats:
In case seats reserved for SC Category remains vacant for want of eligible candidates, seats will be filled up by the eligible candidate from the list of ST Category and vice- versa.
TheUniversityreservestherightto rectifythelistofcandidatesselectedforadmissionintheeventofdetectionofany inadvertenterror,beforeorafterpaymentofadmission fees including cancellation of admission.
In compliance with theUGC,D.O.No 1-152029 (ARC) ptIII,dated24thMay,2023 and inpursuance to the Judgementofthe Hon’ble SupremeCourtofIndia,dated08.05.2009 in Civil Appeal No 887/2009, attention of all the applicants and parents are drawn to the “Regulations on Curbing the Menace of ragging in Higher Educational Institutions, 2009” notified by the UGC. Ragging is completely banned inThe University of Burdwan and its other centres of learning, and any one found guilty of ragging and/or resorting to ragging in any form is liable to be appropriately punished as per law.

The candidates who will be provisionally selected for admission to PG Course of Studies in the above mentioned Subjects for the session 2024-2026 are compulsorily required to complete the undertaking (if not completed in time of Application to the PG Admission-2024) by strictly following these instructions and must submit the hard copy of the Anti Ragging undertaking in the time of Document Verification.
As per the directives of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, it is notified that if any incident of ragging comes to the notice of the authority, the concerned student shall be given liberty to explain and if his/her explanation is not found satisfactory, the authority would expel him/her from the institution.
As already notified, non-payment of admission fees by any Provisionally Selected Candidate shall amount to cancellation of his/her candidature and insuch context, they will be debarred from participation in any round of the admission process.
