Banaras Hindu University PhD Admission 2023-24 Notification.

The Banaras Hindu University offers admission to Doctor of Philosophy/Vidyāvāridhi Degree (herein after referred to as the Ph.D. Degree programme) in various disciplines as per details given in Section–B, Table–1.

Admission to the Ph.D. Programs will be made through the following modes

A. Research Entrance Test-Exempted (RET -Exempted):

Only those candidates are eligible for admission to Ph.D. programmes through RET-Exempted mode:

(i) who have qualified for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) of UGC/CSIR, Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR),Department of Biotechnology (DBT) or any other national agency.

(ii) who is otherwise eligible for direct mode of admission

Note:

(a) For details on direct mode of admission refer to Section G of this information Bulletin.

(b) Candidates will have to appear in interview with 100% weightage and their selection will be based on their performance in the interview.

(c) Candidates who have been awarded Lectureship/Assistant Professorship (without JRF) in the UGC/CSIR examination, awarded any other fellowship on the basis of UGC/CSIR NET examination and DST INSPIRE fellows are not eligible under this mode of admission.

(d) Candidates shall produce valid JRF certificate at the time of physical verification of the documents failing which their candidature shall be cancelled.

B. Research Entrance Test (RET):

Applications for admission to Ph.D. Programmes through NET Examination of UGC/CSIR and ASRB using NET Exam June 2024/ARSB Exam 2024score are invited from eligible candidates as under:

(i) Category 1: JRF qualified candidates,

(ii) Category 2: Candidates qualified for Assistant Professorship without JRF and

(iii) Category 3: Candidates neither qualified for JRF nor for Assistant Professorship but eligible for admission to Ph.D. only.

(iv) For admission to the Ph.D. programme in Institute of Agricultural Sciences, the NET score of the Agricultural Services Recruitment Board (ASRB) Examination 2024 shall be used.

Note:

(a) Admission under RET mode will include score of NET Examination of UGC/CSIR June 2024, in place of the entrance examination as per UGC Public Notice dated March 27, 2024, and score obtained in the interview. The weightage for NET score and for interview will be 70% and 30% respectively for preparing the merit list for admission. The same weightage of marks will apply for ASRB score for admission in
the Institute of Agricultural Sciences.

(b) Only the scores of NET Examination of June, 2024 of UGC/CSIR/ASRB shall be taken into account for admission to Ph.D Programmes for the academic year 2024-25.

Structure of Ph.D. Admission Test 2024:

The Ph. D. admission 2024under RET-Exempted mode shall be done on Merit based on total marks/scores of 100 that will come from one component as noted below.

Interview: Banaras Hindu University PhD Admission 2023-24

The candidates will be called to appear in an interview in the Department/Centre of concerned discipline as per the procedure noted below in Table-5.

Mode of Payment of Application Processing:

After the candidate has filled up the application form online, he/she will have to make online payment of Application Processing Fee through credit card/ debit card using the payment gateway
available on the Entrance test portal.

Instructions for Submission of Application Form:

a) Online Application Form for the Applicants of RET/RET – Exempted -2024:

The Application Form for RET/RET-Exempted 2024 shall be available on the BHU’s entrance test portal www.bhuonline.in. The online application submission process will have following six steps:

❖ Step 1: Registration on the Portal www.bhuonline.in – This step involves authentication of Candidate’s email id and mobile number. As all important communications related to admission will be sent to the registered email id and mobile number, candidates are advised
to give their correct email id/ mobile number (in use).

❖ Step 2: Filling up Identification details – Only after successful registration on the Portal www.bhuonline.in, the candidates would be required to fill up an Identification Form giving particulars of the documents for authentication of their identity. For the purposes, following photo identification documents are allowed:

(i) Aadhaar Card; (ii) Passport; (iii) Voter ID issued by the Election Commission of India; (iv) Bank Passbook affixed with the photograph
(v) Driving License; (vi) Pan Card; (vii) any other valid Government ID Number and (viii) Admit Card issued by the concerned Boards. Candidate should carefully write the correct spelling of their names as carried in their Aadhaar/identification document (as applicable).

The candidates shall be compulsorily required to carry their identification document (as provided in the application process) to the interview/counselling centre.

❖ Step 3: Online Application Form Entry and Selection of Discipline- After successfully entering identification details, the candidates are required to fill-up the required details in the online application form and select the discipline after ensuring their eligibility for the concerned discipline in which they are desirous of taking admission.

❖ Step 4: Uploading of photographs and signature- Candidates have to scan their photo and signature as per instruction given in the portal and upload it.

❖ Step 5: Payment of Application Processing Fee- After the candidate has filled up the application form online and clicks on the “CONFIRM” button, he/she will have to make the payment of application processing fee in online mode using credit card/ debit card/net
banking/etc. through the payment gateway available on the Entrance test portal.
