157th Five Days Training Programme on SOUL 3.0: Installation and Operations

The Information and Library Network (INFLIBNET) Centre was established in May 1996 as an independent, autonomous Inter- University Centre (IUC) of the University Grants Commission (UGC).
Major activities and services of the Centre include automation of academic libraries and information centres, creation of union databases of resources available in academic libraries, promote resource sharing among academic libraries, promote information access and transfer, support scholarship, learning and academic pursuits.
The Centre acts as a nodal agency for networking of libraries and information centres in universities, institutions of higher learning and R &D institutions in India with an aim to promote scholarly communication.
The technology being a driving force in the contemporary education system, the INFLIBNET Centre has taken-up a number of initiatives for academic community in universities under its purview.
About SOUL 3.0
Software for University Libraries (SOUL) is a state-of-the-art integrated library management software designed and developed by the INFLIBNET Centre based on requirements of college and university libraries.
It is a user-friendly software developed to work under client-server environment.The software is compliant to international standards for bibliographic formats, networking and circulation protocols.
After a comprehensive study, discussions and deliberations with the senior professionals of the country, the software was designed to automate all house keeping operations in library.
The software is suitable not only for the academic libraries, but also for all types and sizes of libraries, even school libraries. SOUL 3.0 is compliant to international standards such as MARC 21 bibliographic format, Unicode based Universal Character Sets for multilingual bibliographic records and NCIP 2.0 and SIP 2 based protocols for electronic surveillance and control.
The Centre is organising intensive “One Week Training Programme on Operations of SOUL 3.0 for those who have purchased SOUL
Software.The training programme provides more focus on the operational techniques of SOUL 3.0 Software.

The resource persons are eminent and experienced Computer and LIS Scientists from the INFLIBNETCentre.
Those who are using SOUL 3.0 software or wish to purchase software can also participate in the training programme. A maximum of 20-25 candidates are to be selected for the training programme on First-Come-First-Serve basis. Once 25 participants registration is received along with training fees, registration will be closed.
Participants should be conversant with basic knowledge of library and information science and basic knowledge of computer operation will be preferred. Participants must have PC/Laptop with Internet connection. However, participants can join through mobile also .
Duration: Five Days ( 22-26 August 2022)
The registration fee is Rs. 7,080.00 (Rupees Seven Thousand Eighty only) per person with accommodation inclusive of GST. It covers the cost of a training programme kit containing training materials and lunch during the training period.
The payment should be made through Demand Draft in favour of INFLIBNET Centre payable at Gandhinagar along with filled-in registration form. Fee is non- refundable and non-adjustable. The Centre also accepts payment by NEFT /RTGS for the workshop. The bank account details will be shared on request.
The Centre will arrange accommodation during the period of training at INFLIBNET Guest House (A/C Room) on twin sharing basis. The participants must send prior intimation and charges for accommodation along with registration fees. The accommodation will be provided first come first basis.
The application for registration to the training programme should be submitted online at https://hrd.inflibnet.ac.in/login.php on or before 18th August, 2022.The absence during the workshop will be considered as discontinuation of participation.
